  • Have you ever found yourself chatting with someone, and you feel like they're taking what you're saying completely wrong? Maybe you find that you're defending yourself or getting heated because this person just isn't getting it?

We’re chatting about a topic that profoundly impacts, dare I say, makes or breaks, the relationship with ourselves and others: communication. We all do it, communication that is, and yet nowhere did we learn how to do it effectively. It feels awful to be misunderstood, so I want to share some basic communication tips to help you feel more understood in all of your relationships.

Segment 1: the goal of effective communication

    Segment 2: types of communication

Segment 3: the complexity of conversations

Segment 4: being right vs being understood

Segment 5: tips for smooth conversations

  • Connecting to ourselves is crucial in connecting with others. If we don't know who we are, we don't know what we want. This leads to a whole bunch of confusion and feelings of dissatisfaction - you know that feeling of, " there's got to be more than this..."?

If you've ever experienced that, your next move was probably something along the lines of, a quest to know thyself. Naturally, that ends up looking like changing our situation, our career, our relationship, our city, getting a new hobby or hairstyle, maybe a new wardrobe, or going travelling, and that seems to work for a while. But then that feeling creeps back in and we're back to feeling like we thought we found the answer, but it must have not been since now we're right back where we started.

Here's the thing - external factors, such as our appearance, the city we live in, the places we've travelled, our careers, or roles we play, are not the answer to knowing ourselves.

    * Knowing ourselves is an inward journey that requires being present, being aware of our inner world, and accepting our truth. We have an entire universe inside us, and knowing ourselves means removing the layers that block our true vision. Our identity is not outside of us; we are already whole and have all the information to be ourselves.

Check out today's episode on "how to be you" to learn more about how to do just that.

Thank you for joining me on this episode of The Self-Image Experience Podcast. • Today we are discussing 4 questions that are GOLD in giving awareness and clarity in our relationships and any situation in our lives. When we live with intention and constantly do the work to bring awareness to each moment, each situation, and each relationship, we have the power to create the exact life that we want to live. We become open to what’s possible for us when we work on the relationship with ourselves, and subsequently the relationship we have with everyone and everything around us.

    Segment 1: importance of questions

    Segment 2: questions create awareness

    Segment 3: ask good questions

    --> 1. What do I think about this situation/person/relationship?

--> 2. Being honest with myself, how am I showing up in this situation/relationship?

    --> 3. Do I like the results I'm creating?

--> 4. What do I really want and how can I create that result instead?

These questions are seriously gold no matter what challenge or situation. Use these questions to explore any area of your life to make sure you are on track to creating the results you really want. Awareness is power. Responsibility is power. Choice is power.

Thank you for joining me on this episode of "The Self-Image Experience Podcast." I hope this discussion on questions to ask yourself has provided you with valuable insights to explore on your self-image journey and in all of your relationships. • Fear is one of the main things that holds us back from doing all the things we want to do in our lives. How does fear hold you back currently? Are you afraid of pitching your business idea? Are you afraid to end your marriage even though you know you don't want to be in it anymore? What about going back to school and getting that degree you've always dreamed about? We feel the fear from even thinking about doing these things and we take it as our cue to stop.

I want to help you understand fear, why we feel fear and how it serves us, and also how to manage fear and build the skill of allowing fear and taking action anyways. You aren't going to get rid of fear, but you can learn how to feel it and keep going.

  • Hey babe and welcome back to another episode of the self image experience podcast.

In my opinion, one of the most useful things to consider is what drives our behaviour. Our behaviour, or our actions, are what create our results in our relationships, our finances, our career, or life in general. That means that our actions or inaction is important, which I think we all understand.

Many of us know that there's a specific set of actions that will create what we want, but we can't get ourselves to do them. Sometimes it's the other way around and there's an action that we wish we could stop doing but just can't seem to do it.

What most people do when trying to create change is look for a plan or set of actions to achieve what we want. This sometimes works, but oftentimes only creates a temporary result and we end up back where we started.

Before we look at strategies, what I have found to be more successful is to look at what is driving our behaviour to begin with. Once we figure that out, then the action piece can fall into place.

Check out today's episode to learn how to really create what you want. I'm discussing the key to changing our behaviour before we even begin to look at strategies.

Thanks for joining us today and I'll see you back here next week!

  • So you've come to a point where you are wanting some answers or looking for guidance on what to do in a situation. Naturally, most of us look outside of ourselves for this answer or guidance. First and foremost, we ask Google (of course), and then maybe we consult with someone we know, a friend, a book, and so on. There are certain situations where a specific set of instructions is necessary or an actual skill that we don't yet have or understand.

However, in most other cases there is power in going to our own brains for the answer. Many times we resort to saying, "...but I don't know" and I would argue that you do.

In today's episode I'm talking about how to access a deeper part of ourselves that has access to greater wisdom and why this is a powerful place to get the answers that we want.

  • Most of us never learned the art of managing our emotional lives, which leaves us feeling powerless and out of control in certain situations. We lose our power when we give away our responsibility for how we feel, how we behave, and for where we're at in life. Blaming others or our circumstances feels good and feels right in the moment, but it leaves us without any control in the matter, and that doesn't feel good at all.

Gaining back control of our lives is a journey of taking radical responsibility and choosing how to move forward. In other words, we get to decide how to feel, how to act, and how to show up in our lives no matter what!

  • When is the last time you did something because it was hard? When was the last time you didn't do something because it was hard?

Listen up my friends, when we avoid things because they're hard, we're giving ourselves more evidence for why we aren't capable of doing hard things. We're also allowing the not doing of something because it's hard to be a good enough reason not to do something.

The problem with living into this story is either 1 of 2 things: either it's stopping us from doing something that will potentially create the results we want, or it's keeping us stuck in the victimhood of our past.

    Today I'm talking about:

    - how this shows up in our lives

    - why it's important to recognize where this is potentially showing up

    - how it's holding us back and preventing the results we want

    - why making a mindset shift will get you unstuck

    - how to shift your story about doing hard things

Sometimes life is hard, and we can do hard things.

  • Welcome back to another episode of the self image experience podcast. I'm excited to have you here whether it's your first time or you're a regular here.

I've talked about negative thinking in a previous episode ("Slay Negative Thinking") but I have more things to say. New things to say. A whole 'notha layer of things to say about negative thinking. I think this is important for us since it seems to be one of the most common things I hear people saying that they want to get rid of.

Some of us are negative peeps all the time and we don't even realise we're being negative. We just think we're seeing the world for what it is. And others know that they're negative, they are fully aware, but they think it's just who they are or who they've always been. This isn't necessarily a problem. However, if you are one of the people who are sick and tired of feeling bad and negative all the time, and you've realised just how much it's impacting your life, then you're in the right place.

Today I'm diving deeper into negative thinking, why it's a problem, and how we can reprogram our brains to be more positive and solution focused.

  • Hello and welcome to the podcast! We are diving into the exciting topic of rejection today and how to deal with this feeling.

Most of us deal with rejection in some form, whether it's from our partner, our family, maybe from a friend, group of friends, at work, a job interview/opportunity, an application, trying out for a team, asking someone out, or making an offer in your business. It's pretty much impossible to avoid unless you're actively seeking comfort and not putting yourself out there.

I think we attach a negative story to most cases of rejection, and we also have an automatic negative charge associated with the word.

In today's episode, I'm sharing a recent situation where rejection was experienced and how we worked through it.

Thanks for joining the podcast and I hope you have a fabulous week!

  • Hey babe, welcome back to the podcast!

Let's just get to it. I want to help you understand why you're feeling uninspired and unmotivated so that we can spark some passion and creativity in your life.

I keep hearing that people's reason for not taking action on their dreams is because they are not feeling motivated or inspired so they don't know what to do. This is a huge problem because it's holding us back from achieving the results we want in our lives. It's holding us back from creating and sharing our gifts and contributions to the world. It's ultimately holding us back from doing what we know we were meant to be doing.

In today's episode, I'm discussing why you're feeling uninspired and unmotivated and how to change that. It's time to feel excited, creative, and passionate so we can take action on making our big goals a reality.

  • Welcome back to this extra special episode of The Self-Image Experience Podcast! This is episode 52 which means one full year of episodes in the books. It's celebration time over here I contemplated what to discuss in this special episode and what came to mind is talking about YOU and your power. One year of personal growth, one year of continuing the work towards your best self image, and I felt called to bring it back to your power.

When we start out on a new venture, whether it’s learning a new skill, weight loss, muscle gain, building a business, getting our health in check, prioritizing and building an amazing relationship or setting out to find our soulmate, anything that causes you to step into the unknown - the first step is usually the learning phase. We set out to find books, blogs, courses, coaches, therapists, teachers, guides, mentors, or whoever, so that we can learn the process of what we’re trying to achieve.

What I found is that during this process, we want to give away all of our power. We tend to give away our responsibility for our results, and we give up that power to whoever or whatever is teaching us the way. This is a big problem because it takes away our ability to learn the lessons and skills from the experience, and it also gives away our power in creating the results we want. It gives the power to something outside of us which means our ability to achieve the result depends on someone or something else. And it seems logical, while we're doing this. We don’t know the path or the process which is why we’ve set out to learn the process to begin with. It means that it’s the teacher or the materials job to give us what we need to know to be successful. Which is true, but what is also true, is that while it’s the teacher or material’s job to give us the information, it is always our own job to take that information, trust the process, and do everything in our power to create the results. Listen to the full episode for how to fully utilize your power so that you can be responsible for the results that you create in your life. Thanks for joining today!

  • Welcome back babe to another episode of the self image experience podcast. I'm so excited you have found yourself here and can't wait for you to dive into today's episode.

Sometimes we have something major happening in our lives that have us feeling a heavy sort of way, and sometimes we wake up just feeling that way for no reason that we can think of. Heaviness can be feelings like grief, sadness, shame, guilt, anger, or maybe even a combination of those.

Today I'm breaking down how we tend to use these feelings against ourselves, what these feelings mean, what they actually mean, and how we can utilize heavy feelings to create the results we want instead of the ones we don't.

Thanks for joining today and please enjoy!

  • Welcome back babe, I'm excited you're here today! We're talking about burnout, where it comes from, and how to prevent it while still showing up in a big way.

I was recently witnessing a conversation around burnout and I had so many thoughts on the subject. One woman was sharing her story and her advice was: "...it’s much easier to get everything sorted out when you eliminate one of the things causing the burnout." Experiencing the beginning signs or full blown burnout is no joke, but it is totally preventable if we understand more about it and how to manage. What I want to highlight is where the burnout comes from. We tend to give our jobs, our families, our relationships, and basically the craziness of our lives all the credit for causing us to feel burnt out, but the truth of the matter is that it’s not any of those things. Check out today's episode to hear more about burnout and how you can prevent it happening to you so that you can show up as the woman you were meant to be.

  • Hey babe and welcome back to the Self-Image Experience Podcast! Did you ever realize that your entire life is based on relationships? When I made this realization I was shook. Every single area of your life is based on the relation of that thing or person to you: relationships. I think there's some obvious ones that you'd have no problem naming right now, but there's a few that might surprise you. Besides sharing how relationships form your entire life, I'm also diving into which one is the most important and why you need to spend some time reflecting on it.
    Enjoy!

  • Hello my beautiful friend and welcome back to another episode. Usually I'm here talking all things mindset, but not today. Well, a little bit of that today. But it's because it's all relative. We have this incredible communication system between our minds and our bodies,  and when we don't utilize this system fully, we are missing out on something SO important.

When someone asks you what you want, what you like, your opinion on something, who you want to become, etc., where do you go to find the answer? Most of us will go to  our minds to find the answer. How often do you check in with how you feel about it though? .....maybe not so often. And this is where we get into problems.

Strengthening our mind body  connection is where we start to build the authentic relationship with ourselves that we are all craving. Having the mind and body working together allows us to know our true selves, our true desires, and to access our wisdom. Sounds pretty great, right?

Check out today's episode for the rest of the details on why you need to start building your mind body connection.

    Enjoy!

Setting and creating goals is something I think everyone should be doing on a regular basis as it gives us purpose and motivation to evolve as human beings. Most of the  time when we write down everything we want, our list ends up being something like this:

dream house perfect body debt-free and financial freedom new clothing + makeup work promotion

Sound  familiar? Me too! And, there's absolutely nothing wrong with setting  material/physical goals. There is something that I want to share with  you today that will get you thinking about your goals in a whole new  light and will elevate your goal setting to the next level.

  • Welcome back to another episode of the self-image experience podcast! I want to discuss one of the common misconceptions about self-image, which is that it's just about physical appearance. This is definitely one aspect of your self-image, but it goes much deeper than that.

Your self-image is simply defined as the way you see yourself. Not just literally how you see yourself in the mirror (although this is included), but how you see yourself as a person. It's WHO you are and there's so much more that's inside of that. Your self-image is literally everything and you'll hear why when you listen to today's episode.
