Fire up Outlook, pull out your planners and get ready to do some backwards math because this week, we’re exploring the ways we (try to) keep our lives organized. Plus: Toaster ovens, thirsty trick-or-treaters, British procedurals, your hotel TV picks, and some love for Mandy Patinkin.

Picture this - you’ve just arrived at the Hampton Inn. You’re tired from traveling and just want to crash. But then! You see your name on the comically large television. It’s beckoning you to watch some basic cable garbage. Your night is made! You’re in the hotel tv liminal space! That’s right, we’re talking the TV we only watch in hotels. From local news to questionable movies to a night judging the couples on House Hunters - hotels are for uncomplicated television!
In small talk, Hillary discusses Legos as it relates to Wreckx-n-Effect's Rump Shaker, Bobby (apparently) is always right (??), and Meredith has fallen and she can’t get up! We need a Life Alert, STAT!

Your TSHE Hosts are out and about this week, so we bring you a Coven (tm) show from the past!!
It’s finally here. The TSHE Coven has convened in their candy house, surrounded the cauldron, and summoned their foremothers. Yes, we’re talking witches! We talk to an actual (former) witch, discuss why we would probably be burned at the stake (or some other sadistic sentence), describe the type of witch we would be, and finally, decide on our Mount Rushmore witches. Welcome to spooky (and birthday) season, y'all! -
The women of TSHE are talking true crime media: what it is, how it’s made, and why people like it. We decide that, as with most things, there are a few diamonds, but it’s mostly dross. COPS? No thank you. Serial? We have some problems. In the Dark? Should win every award ever made. Along the way: the relative hotness of Ted Bundy, confirmation jewelry, the uselessness of car alarms, and did DB Sweeney hijack a plane? Plus, the legal requirements of all Aunt Kathys.

This week, Bobby, Ann, Meredith and Hillary are exploring the times things in our world have felt a little (or more than a little) like a cult. Plus, recent podcast excursions, the frailty of the human body, SME listeners, the debut of Rory Reviews™, and you’ll *never* guess who adopted a stray cat named Spaghetti from a neighborhood gas station.

Your TSHE Hosts are out and about this week, so we bring you an (almost) timely show from Spooky Halloweentime (tm) two years ago. But please listen to recently recorded intro/cameo/review from one of our younger listeners/future co-hosts.
It’s Spooky Halloweentime (™), and your TSHE hosts are here to talk all about monsters - the monsters we loved and the monsters that scarred us for life. We also discuss why vampires are so dang sexy (are they?) and the history of the General Mills’ monsters. In small talk, Hillary prepares for the big day/weekend while detailing her previous big weekend. She and Ann agree that 44 is a nice number (11!) before Ann gives a lovely rendition of Happy Birthday (by Stevie, of course). Finally we realize that we’re all complete nerds! Shocking twist!

We had so much fun discussing fictional detectives last week, your TSHE hosts thought, what the hell! We want to be detectives, too! Follow along as We talk sleuthing styles, settings, potential sidekicks, and maybe most importantly, our spying accessories.
In small talk, Hillary describes her Victorian woman ways (where is the fainting couch?) while watching a very dumb (and extremely entertaining) show and Bobby’s algorithm takes a journey to Stars Hollow. Also, what are the definitions of girding your loins and gumshoes? Tune in and find out!

Here at TSHE we have an ongoing fascination with the detective procedural genre, and this time we’re examining that staple character, the disarming sleuth. This could be a kindly old lady, somebody with a mental illness, a precocious child, or a fussy British man, but the one thing they have in common is that nobody expects them to solve the crime. Along the way we detour into murder trendlines, the importance of a top-tier mustache, Jessica Fletcher’s sex life, and a lot of talk about Frasier and Gilmore Girls (neither of which have murders, that we know of).

September is here. PSL is back at Starbucks and Halloween candy has been out for months. Autumn is coming, and we couldn’t be happier. On this special Labor Day edition of the show, Bobby, Ann and Meredith put away their white wardrobes and draft their favorite fall things. Plus, talk of Unwrapped, neighborhood cats, Triple Loaf, Capri Sun’s possible cardinal sin, a listener-submitted correction to our West Wing casting, Cheesecake Factory’s cheesecake factory, and so much more.

We the People of This Show Has Everything, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare…you know the rest, maybe! With the 2024 campaign in full swing, TSHE is talking politics this week! What’s our political history? Are we engaged citizens? Apathetic? Somewhere in the middle? And how many political offices did Bobby hold in high school?
In small talk, Hillary is forced to be an involved parent. We also discuss the various states and territories we still need to visit. A trek to the Mariana Islands, anyone?

A cold disrupted this week’s recording schedule, as you’ll hear in today’s intro. This release from the TSHE Vault originally aired April 5, 2021.
Aches. Fever. Congestion. All of the pain that lasts about a day as Bill Gates’ new 5G microchips* take hold in your bloodstream and rewrite your DNA. Now that more people are getting their vaccine shots, Bobby, Meredith, Christy and Hillary are dedicating a show to the inevitable sick day you’ll take (even if you don’t really need it) after you get the jab. And we know you will, because you believe in science. And peer pressure. So join us as we share how we spend our down days now, and what made them special when we were kids. The listener with the closest bid without going over could win a beautiful new Broyhill dining room set. All that plus your pettiest grievances, including one listener who’s got a justified turkey beef. No whammies!

We’ve been off for a few weeks, but that doesn’t mean we’ve been sitting around drilling our children on U.S. Presidents (just some of us). Join Bobby, Ann, and Hillary as we share what we’ve been up to since we last got together, including a family reunion with an interesting potluck choice, Bobby’s adventures on the road with Rosalita, and what happens when service people are too prompt. Plus, what we mean by “rectum-adjacent,” and Rest in Pizza to all our dearly departed.

Fine dining is the topic du jour and your full flight of TSHE hosts have opinions. So put a napkin in Meredith’s lap, bring Ann more ketchup without making her ask, remember Hillary’s martini should be dirty, get the Table Zamboni ready for Bobby, and have some cash ready if you expect Christy to get you a table with out waiting at Tony Roma’s, A Place For Ribs.

This week, we take navel-gazing to a whole new level by way of a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® personality inventory test. Is it bunk science that shouldn’t be taken out of context? Possibly. Is it stellar fodder for the show this week? Definitely. Listen as we share our results, and then take the survey and see which TSHE host is just like you! As a fair warning, odds are pretty good you’re a Miranda.Don’t worry, our Masterminds make sure we know what we’re all getting ourselves into.
Click here for the survey. (It’s free. No signups!)
Plus: A light electrical repair tutorial, a not-so-light plumbing demand, a pillow recommendation request, an actor with a bunch of eyebrows, your and our favorite on-screen presidents, and an extended tangent about an alligator cloche.

We may be cooped up at home for a while, but we’re not about to let that stop us from celebrating the spectacular pageantry, athletic accomplishment, and overblown nationalism that is the Summer Olympics. Mike, Hillary, and Ann are here to discuss our favorite (and least favorite) “events,” decide which athletes impress us the most, share some of our favorite memories, and celebrate the NBC elf that is Bob Costas. Along the way, we simplify some track and field events, add a few twists to liven up a boring sport, and marvel over the rise and fall of the celebrity decathlete. Plus, Hillary makes a shocking statement of false confidence.

It’s been quite a week, and Bobby, Hillary and Ann are here to break down and solve the challenges in American politics, climate chaos and global unrest. Just kidding. It’s an episode about our favorite movie theatre candy. Plus, Bobby’s feeling confident out in the country, Hillary’s going willy and nilly on Libby, and Ann’s falling apart in new and exciting ways. So join us at the White Sands Hotel.

It’s days after what might be our country’s last July 4 as the monarchy has apparently descended on us, so what better time to circle back to one of our favorite show topics? Snacks! In particular, what are some of our favorite childhood snacks? Nostalgia + food - that’s the TSHE comfort spot. One lesson we’ve learned, though - never leave Step by Step out of the TGIF discussion!
In small talk, Meredith returns from her bouts with several plagues, Hillary talks movies (what’s new?), and Ann teaches Rory the value of a tangent. It takes a village to raise a (sweet & strange) child!

Your TSHE hosts have busy lives! So this week we’re re-airing a true classic! Enjoy all of the deep Numb3rs, Castle, Bones discussions. We really covered Cop/Not Cop well! Also, let us know what you think of the new guest hosts at the beginning. Personally, we think they could work on their professionalism, but they’re entertaining!
At long last, Ann, Bobby and Hillary tackle the questions that have been on everyone’s minds (and in the TSHE tickler file) for months now: What is (and isn’t) a cop/not cop show, and more importantly, what—based on strict scientific criteria and rigorous research—are the best and worst cop/not cop shows?
You’ll know we weren’t trifling when you see this episode is 2.5 hours long.
Also discussed: The Word of the Day, a listener’s (extremely welcome) cat pictures, the form-over-function failings of fondant, Hillary’s hot takes on last week’s Soderberghian Oscars, Bobby’s myriad life updates after a couple of weeks away, and the deeply upsetting things Ann has seen in the bowels of Southdale Center.

Figuring if the US government can establish a new holiday, we can, too, Bobby, Hillary and Ann set out to claim another day for a worthy occasion. It started as a lark, and yet, became so much more. Welcome to the calendar, Blue Ribbon Monday! Plus, your fast food faves, nacho-fueled courtship, and an impromptu eulogy for a dive bar that met a tragic end. #restinpink
