It's Spooky Season! To celebrate, Sam convince Maria to watch the classic slasher flick Scream! This movie is full of twists and turns, great 90s fashion, and a couple of bad ass women. Does it get better than that?!

This week we went on an Odyssey to find you listeners the worst best movie in this universe. This 1989 gem starring the beautiful Bo Derek, has truly got it all: Ghost Husband, A shady pearl business, public nudity, inexplicable elephant rides and beach baseball games. You really have to see it to believe it folks. This fever dream of a movie is only a 2.1 on IMDB and only made an estimated 25k in the box office.
Try to keep up while we try to explain this movie to you and I hope we sound coherent.

Fans of well crafted time travel sci-fi movies, prepare to be disappointed! Fans of raunchy, late night humour, you might be mildly satisfied!
Hot Tub Time Machine, starring John Cusack, Craig Robinson, Clark Duke and Rob Corddry, is the 2010 answer to the question: Can we make a movie based on this random string of words?
Giving respect when it's due, this movie does offer some great cameos from pre-Marvel Sebastian Stan, and 80s supervillan Billy Zapka ( Cobra Kai! Strike First. Strike Hard. No Mercy) Another exceptional aspect of this movie is its tight runtime coming in at 1 hour 40 minutes. We love to see it folks.

This week we are talking about the Cinderella adaptation no one asked for. Which is appropriate because no one asked us to talk about it either!
We've got a real mish-mash cast with Camilla Cabello at the head as Gen Z Cinderella in a completely undetermined time period, singing arbitrarily chosen songs with the help of folks like Idina Menzel, Peirce Brosnan, and my nemesis, James Corden. I'm still recovering from seeing him in Cats, and then we had to see his dumb face in a flash mob, in one of the weirdest publicity stunts we've seen.
This movie definitely gets some things right, but of course made some bold choices that may not have all paid off. Maria can't figure out what year it takes place and Sam remembers an embarrassing core memory from Jr High.
In the end thought, the Cinderella with Brandy and Whitney Houston still reigns superior.

Switching things up a little this week and talking about the best and worst movies that were adapted from books!
These two camps of people are really passionate about the things that they love, tell a book lover that you thought the movie was better? War crimes. Tell a movie buff that the book was better? Burned at the stake for being pretentious.
And here sit Maria and Sam, who kind of straddle both sides, but are also in neither, but i guess more so into movies??? IDK where we fit into this age old battle, but we're here to talk about movies based on books!

It’s a very special Maria Flick Pick! This week we watched the 2006 Amanda Byne’s masterpiece She’s the Man. Also starring widdle baby Channing Tatum, and the absolutely hilarious David Cross. This movie is filled with classic hijinks, bamboozles and shenanigans. Oh and also just so much tom foolery. And did I mention hoodwinks? There’s boatloads of that. Amanda Bynes is comedic genius, going undercover as her brother… to play soccer. I appreciate the scam, but I mean all to play a sport?! The girl loves to kick I guess. This movie will absolutely make you for real LOL, give you so many new quotes and make you seriously consider what your favourite cheese is.

Just like when filming a movie, recording a podcast is bound to have some outtakes. So enjoy this little blooper of us realizing my 18 year old cat lit himself on fire, and the aftermath.
For the record this has happened probably 4 times in his 18 years, he's like a moth to a flame.

Our very first guest! And wow, this one was a match made in heaven. This week we're chatting with the hilarious Alyssa Wooldridge. Her love for movies is unmatched, and her movie picks, impeccable. We shared lots of laughs and talked our way through the 2009 flick, He's Just Not That Into You. With its All Star cast and intertwining storylines, this rom-com is comforting, enjoyable and is always a great option, like a cute and cozy hoodie.

What a great day it is to end the conservator-ship of Britney Spears. We love the smell of justice in the morning.
These days you can't seem to get away from the news of Britney's legal battles and to show our appreciation, we are taking about Crossroads. A simple, sweet, palatable coming of age movie filled with love and friendship. Great cast, music and fashion, it really ticks a lot of those boxes.
Its baaaasically the exact opposite of last week's flick pick. :)

Before Netflix decided every franchise needed a gritty reboot, they made 80s hit tv series Miami Vice.... a gritty reboot.
Starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Fox, get ready for hearing a lot of FBI jargon about going undercover and about deals. The deals going down here, we gotta finish the deal, we're the right guys for the deal. And hey, if you like a no-nonsense cop drama, this is your flick. But personally we need a little more 'Buddy' to our 'Cop', a little more wisecracks and a little less transporting crack. I mean we also love it when a cop has an unlikely sidekick. A psychic sidekick? Good. A dog sidekick? GREAT.
Alas, Miami Vice offers up a more tight laced type of fun (?) and in an unlikely turn of events, Maria outlasts Sam who could not focus enough to watch the rest of this movie!! Her excuse, not enough whimsey, too much Audioslave.

Disney has done it again, dedicating an entire movie to a psychopathic dog kidnapper (I would say dog killer but spoiler alert the dogs get away and live happily ever after, phew.) They said how can we have a quirky, spirited, rebellious lead and completely rewrite the unspeakable acts we know her best for. Did I change my mind about Cruella DeVille? No. Does everyone really need their story to be told??? Probably not. Do I want a garbage truck dress now? Yes.
Watch this movie for the visuals and the performances, but don't think too hard about it.
No dogs were harmed in the making of Cruella, or the recording of this podcast.

In this very special episode, we are talking about Sam's number one favourite movie to celebrate the first anniversary of her 29th birthday :)
After watching the musical biopic of the legendary Elton John, we fawn over the music, the costumes, and the actors. Seriously, there's a lot of raving about the star Taron Egerton. (Taron pls check your DMs we want to interview you please)
There's not much bad to say about this movie its a fun, fantastical ride with a killer soundtrack. If CDs were a thing I would have worn out my copy months ago.
All this positivity won't last for long, we'll be back to our regularly scheduled roasting next week.

This week we're doing something a little different and a little fun. Sam has created a fun game show style game to play, testing Maria's ability to navigate through movies with ridiculous plots, and movie plots made up by Sam's strange brain. We play a game that is essentially two truths and a lie, and Maria has to guess the correct (albeit absurd) movie plot that is 100% a real movie among two fake movie plots. You won't believe some of these movies we've uncovered and maybe it was best they stay unknown....

Jellical friends, hold on to your Jellical hats. We are taking on a movie that quickly became regarded as one of the worst films in history. Of course we are talking about Tom Hooper's 2019 adaptation of Cats. This was once one of the most beloved Broadway productions and is now one of the most talked about movie flops, despite its all-star cast!
In this episode we try to stay on track but the nightmare inducing movie has much to be discussed, leaving one of us to question our sanity, and one of us to question our taste... -
Driving the speed limit, signaling when turning or changing lanes, coming to a complete stop at a stop sign... What do these all have in common?
They are all things that are blatantly ignored in the Fast and Furious universe.
Come for a ride with us while we talk about the first installment of this massive franchise, beloved by many, but in particular... a very certain subset of the population. You know a Fast and Furious diehard when you see one. And you know what? We can see the appeal! However, for two very square gals living some very stable lives, we can only imagine being this fast and this furious, so we'll leave it to Dom and the "Family".

May the fourth (episode) be with you.
This week's movie is so far up Sam's alley, it's her home address.
This week's movie is so distant from Maria's alley, its in a galaxy far, far away.
The first installment of the movie series that changed generations of movie lovers, brought in literally billions of dollars, all from a very humble beginning way back in 1977. Listen while I hold Maria's hand while we go lightspeed through one of my all time favourite flicks. You can expect some fangirling, admiration, mild confusion, and many other emotions.

The glitz and glamour of award season is not quite the same this year, but that didn't stop the Golden Raspberries, better known as the Razzies, from naming the worst directors, actors, actresses and movies from the cursed year, 2020. From movies about Stockholm Syndrome, to hillbillies, self-made pillow CEOS, and even a former mayor of NYC, this year's Razzies has something for everyone!
We will give you the lowdown of all of the awards, and tell you our thoughts on the winners. Was it deserving? Or is one man's trash another man's treasure? Who can tell?! What we do know is that in reviewing the Razzies we have truly found some kindred spirits, as their motto is "Own your Bad" which is exactly our goal in delivering this podcast!
Check out the Razzies homepage, where you can stay informed in the news realm of terrible movies, or even join the Razzies committee so you can vote next year, we know we will!

Jennifer Garner stars in this dark gritty drama about an authoritarian and disciplinarian parent leading her family with an iron fist... as her children rebel, lose control and spiral, turning down a dangerous path..... Just kidding! It's a fun family comedy where it all ends up okay in the end!
Yes Day is when parents, for 24 hours, have to say 'Yes' to every whim their kids can come up with. There are some ground rules, sure, but watch as the wackiness hits an all time high! This movie has everything! Ice cream, car washes... volcanos? Netflix goes no holds barred in this family flick. Child-free neat freaks: this movie is not for you! The concept of saying YES to everything for a day results in about as much mayhem and joy as you can imagine for this family of five, but not without learning a few lessons along the way.

Hate to break the bad news to you... but Mean Girls (one of pop culture's most beloved films) has a sequel that is so bad, we had to spread the word.
In this inaugural episode, Sam and Maria suffered through Mean Girls 2 (well... one of us did) just so we could warn you what a hot mess it truly was. Even talking through the plot feels like talking nonsense. We're convinced the writers played a game of mad-libs and came up with some wacky hijinks and just decided to film them. You have to listen to believe. Discarded dogs, industrial strength glue, taking photos of minors...these are all a critical aspect of this movie.
If you choose to watch this movie, you should also tweet an apology to Tina Fey for doing so. I know I did, but she didn't respond...she's probably just really busy.
