As shared in part one of her story, Jessie Buttafuoco is a mental health professional, advocate, speaker, and co-victim of gun violence from Long Island, New York. Her journey in the media began at an incredibly young age, as the result of a vicious attack and attempt against her mother's life in 1992. Shortly thereafter, pieces of Jessie's family story would be covered by what felt like every media outlet. However, Jessie's own experiences navigating the media, growing up in the public eye, and healing from prolonged trauma have gone largely unshared. Her goals in imparting more of what came next in her personal journey are to bring awareness to the impact and potential detriment of non-consensual media coverage, to offer support to other survivors, and to change the legislative landscape for future generations. The Broken Cycle Media team is incredibly grateful that Jessie was willing to share so much of her over 30-year journey within the true crime landscape with our audience today.

Years later, after Dara had become a mother and began to cultivate her own healing journey, her sister experienced a similar trauma. From that moment on, Dara was compelled to share their stories in hopes of changing the criminal justice landscape for other survivors. Although Something Was Wrong was the first public space she shared, her efforts have not slowed down at all. The Broken Cycle Media team is incredibly grateful for Dara’s time, energy, legislative efforts, and for sharing with our audience all that’s come next in her battle to change the statute of limitations for Indiana survivors of sexual assault.

In fact, it wasn't until he watched the 2024 Netflix documentary, The Program: Cons, Cults, and Kidnapping, that he was confronted with the extent of all of the horrors he had seen and faced. Tabatha Ross-Brown is a Michigan familywoman, certified mental health support specialist, victim advocate, and founder of the non-profit organization Parent Real Talk. After providing her services to parents-in-need, Tabatha came to realize that America severely lacked awareness and available resources for families experiencing violence or abuse by a child-age perpetrator. She set out on a mission geared towards awareness, treatment, and prevention of child-to-family - and more specifically child-to-caregiver - violence. Her efforts have included the establishment of the very first American-based child-to-parent violence Awareness Day in several counties in Michigan, and her goal is to establish a nationwide awareness day. The Broken Cycle Media team is extremely grateful for this advocate interview with Tabatha, as well as all of her time, expertise, and related work.

Roberta Blevins is a mom, business owner, consumer protection & victim advocate, and podcaster from Southern California. She began her professional life as a creative multi-hyphenate who juggled several different jobs and careers to provide for herself and her family. However, when she found out about LuLaRoe (a U.S.-based women's fashion company), she believed it would be the answer to her desire for simplification and success. Within a few years though, Roberta would realize - along with many other LuLaRoe business owners - that the company offered a much different reality. As a result, Roberta has gone on to share her experiences in the media - including the documentary LuLaRich, in her hit podcast Life After MLM, as well as in the courtroom for legal purposes. The Broken Cycle Media team is extremely grateful for Roberta’s advocacy and awareness work, as well as everything she shares with our audience today.
