Welcome to another episode of Cosmic Heartist! Today's guest is someone who shares astrology in a way that is so empowering and loving. She was my first Astrology teacher and seeing it through her eyes intrigued me and really brought me into the practice of using the stars as our guides.
This year, we're seeing some big planetary shifts - we're seeing planets that move every 6-7 years all switch signs in the same year, which makes for some revolutionary times. To talk about this, I thought, there's no one better Jana Roemer.
You don't have to know or understand any astrology to listen to this, she breaks it all down so beautifully.
Jana believes there are so many ways to be a Human and within each life, we live multiple incarnations determined by our choices. To explain who she is by listing experiences, hardships or moments of joy only offers a distorted glimpse. We live. We make choices. We deal with consequences. We break, we grow, we forgive, we celebrate, we laugh. This is life. We all do it and it looks different for each of us. In the end, we all long for the same things: To be heard. To be seen. To belong. To love and be loved.
If she could add a dimension to your existence, it would be that you long to listen in a way that you can hear every single cell of your body through multiple portals of perception in every moment. She believes your body is an ear to the Universe and a map to a hidden reality, a gateway to intuition and that it is our job to release the imprints of our past from our tissues. She believes we are a species in a state of evolution, transforming into a psychic society. Integrity is no longer optional; align with your truth and honesty. She believes that our species’ survival depends on those willing to wade out into the unknown to imagine a future that has yet to exist and then ground that futuristic reality into now. She is a Mystic who appreciates science, yet her curiosity doesn’t end there. She’d rather challenge science than silence her intuition. She came here with an attention to detail and desire for perfection, which untamed could easily drive her nuts and when harnessed is a curious guide to radical new ideas and ways of BE-ing. She is a rebellious provocateur. She speaks things often left unsaid and has learned to be comfortable in discomfort. Jana loves deeply and chooses joy over suffering and recognizes that there are times when a bout of suffering is the only way to that joy. The way she teaches reflects all of this.
Although she’s found home in many places around the world, Jana’s current home is a quaint little mountain town, on a lake called Nelson, BC in Canada. She has run over a dozen 200 hour yoga teacher trainings, 300 hour YTTs, trained over 350 Yoga Nidra guides and hosted retreats all over the globe. On this episode, we have another beautiful heartist from across the world, Marijo Vollmar. Marijo is a 54 year old Filipino-born, American-raised woman who lives in rural coastal Oregon with her high school sweetheart and their 4 children. She is a physical therapist by trade, working in all hospital settings since 1998, before she opened her own business as a Movement Specialist in her 50s.
She is the founder of the Empowered Living Wellness Center, which houses a community of women entrepreneurs, all specializing in the healing arts. Marijo began writing poetry a year ago, which led to her debut book published in May 2024. She believes that beauty, vitality, and creative expression are attainable at all stages of life.
Her energy is inspirational and this conversation is filled with so much magic. We spoke about shifting towards a heart-centered life, how everything is energy, working with our inner-child and inner teen, nurturing our creativity, and Marijo gives a tip for mama's. Hint: it's keep creating.
We also speak about the evolution of parenting styles, the power of creativity and self-expression, and the value of breaking free from societal expectations. Of course the ribbon on top was Marijo reading to us a poem about flying too close to the sun, which she wrote in the middle of the night, the night before our podcast. You'll hear a bit of it in the podcast intro.
