It is physician suicide awareness month. According to the ACGME, nearly 300-400 doctors kill themselves yearly- that averages one a day.
Drs. Fairchild and Buttress are here to discuss this topic, bring it to light, and bring up some of the reasons multiple large meta-analysis studies have shown causes such a high rate in this profession. They also share some of their own personal beliefs and experiences as well as potential solutions to help that figure decrease moving forward.
