  • SPOILER ALERT: All good things must come to an end (cliché I know). Golic & Smetty are coming to you from Radio Row in Las Vegas for Super Week to bring you this week’s final episode. Okay, not just this week’s final episode, but the show’s final episode. It wouldn’t be a grand finale if we didn’t include our dear friend of the pod, Stugotz. Jess and Mike share their favorite moments from the show and discuss the good and bad of Super Bowl media week. Stugotz shares what makes the celebration of football special before Golic asks him how he attempts to make interviews different when the same person has been on 50 other sets that day. Pro tip: Don’t talk about football. The conversation prompts stories of awkward interviews, Stu makes his pick for the Super Bowl winner and the trio discusses iconic big game QBs. Mike and Jess talk about the ever-changing coaching cycle, including one major question: is Bill Belichick done? They hypothesize where he could end up if it’s not on the sidelines before moving on to the college coach migration and the major changes to the Pro Bowl. They end today with the Lewis Hamilton team change and updates on F1. Mike and Jess say their good-byes before riding off into the sunset. Thank you to everyone who supported our show. And don't worry...you can still catch us on GoJo and Golic and The Dan Le Batard Show! So really, it's not goodbye, it's see ya later.

She shares details about the food spread at her party, featuring an impressive seafood boil and a surprise guest appearance from a co-worker on The Dan Le Batard Show. They dive into the dynamics of hosting big football parties, discussing the pros and cons. Mike and Jess bring up questionable plays, dominant defenses, and the eternal debate on how much blame should be placed on quarterbacks. Smetty raises questions about Lamar Jackson's performance, referee calls, and introduces an intriguing conspiracy theory, prompting Mike to reveal his decision to decline discussing it on a political show. The duo also dissects the Lions vs. 49ers game, exploring where things went wrong for Detroit. Mike passionately shares his thoughts on sports analytics, and they discuss the 49ers' underdog status. They’re then joined by Notre Dame women's basketball player Maddy Westbeld, offering insights on her team’s recent upset against UConn. • Disclaimer: Today’s episode is heavy on the College Football National Championship and NFL Playoffs. Viewers and listeners advise.

Golic kicks off today by mentioning being in Smetty’s neck of the woods to call the Bills vs Dolphins game over the weekend. Jess was sweet enough to make the trip and bring cookies, along with a gift, so Mike was kind enough to treat her and her boyfriend to a nice breakfast. While he’s shocked to find out he was a test dummy for her new recipe, Jess confronts him about a rumor involving a conversation with Stugotz about her baking skills.

They reconcile and move on to discuss Michael Penix Jr’s performance, Michigan’s strong defense and the Huskies not being able to keep themselves in the game. Golic asks Jess if the Wolverine’s scandals affect the quality of the win, prompting a discussion on cheating in football. They take a side quest to discuss how the Pac-12 and Big Ten teams will react to each other’s dynamics, before Mike brings up a shocking promise that Jim Harbaugh made to his team. The duo wonders about Harbaugh and McCarthy leaving for the NFL before giving their take on the final regular season of NFL play. Mike brings up the crazy Bills vs Dolphins game and gives his flowers to the Bills Mafia. They look ahead to the playoffs and discuss intriguing matchups, AFC and NFC picks and the drama surrounding the victory formation. Mike and Jess end today with a quick, but terrifying story.

In the Sugar Bowl, Michael Penix Jr.'s impressive display is highlighted, with Golic predicting a top-5 NFL Draft position for the Huskies star QB. The pair discusses the National Championship match-up between Michigan and Washington, and Golic shares his early prediction for the winner.
Mike thinks the Pop-Tarts Bowl is now a benchmark for other bowl games, despite Jess finding the live sacrifice of a mascot weird. They analyze the Georgia vs. Florida State game, discussing how opt-outs and transfers impacted the Seminoles' chances of winning. Shifting gears to the NFL, they end today by previewing the upcoming finale of games, questioning whether Buffalo will emerge victorious over the weekend, and breakdown the AFC and NFC matchups with speculation about the wild possibilities of Week 18.

  • Happy Birthday Golic! Smetty is out, so we have Jason Fitz from Yahoo! Sports and Fox Sports Radio joining the show from Vegas. He helps celebrate by bringing a gift for Mike on-air. The two swap stories from their time together at ESPN in honor of their friendship, leading to a funny story about Fitz, Gojo and an Orange Theory class. They move on to talk about the ever-changing NFL divisions, including dominate defenses and the continuous search for starting quarterbacks. They analyze the race for NFL MVP, where Mike mentions he wants to see someone other than a QB win, bringing up a case for Tyreek Hill or Christian McCaffrey. They do a verbal side quest into this year’s group of Heisman contestants, before diving into an in-depth conversation about the rights and wrongs of sideline officiating after witnessing the Mahomes mayhem. The guys discuss how the transfer portal gives fanbases a chance at hope, if there’s potential for it to turn into free agency and the relationship between transfers and the Heisman Trophy. Mike asks Jason about his opinion on bowl games, how he feels about the controversial playoff selections and how he’s going to celebrate for Golic’s birthday in Vegas. See you next week!

  • Welcome to our Thanksgiving episode! Before we dive into the wild world of sports, Mike and Jess discuss Turkey Day. Jess opposes the classic meal choices and is sick of turkey; Mike challenges her being over it all in her late 20s. Ham, roasted chicken, whatever your preference – they agree there is NO rule when it comes to the main dish. Changing topics to college football, Mike points out the match-up of the weekend will be Ohio State against Michigan. One team that wasn’t on Jess’ radar this season was Louisville, but now she has them in her conversations after they secured a spot in the ACC Championship game. They debate who is making the college football playoffs, as well as the Big 12 Championship game. Jess questions if it’s going to be Texas and Oklahoma. Mike makes his case for the Heisman Trophy winner either being Oregon’s Bo Nix or Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. They can’t leave CFB talk without ignoring the haters who keep poking at Notre Dame’s independence and their contract with NBC (which has been going on for 33 years!) Moving on to breaking NFL news, Matt Canada was fired from the Steelers today. Jess isn’t shocked they let Canada go but is more surprised that they made the decision mid-season. They breakdown the Steelers game against the Browns, the decision as a whole and what the team needs to do to make the playoffs. Staying on NFL, the Chiefs dropped the ball (literally) against the Eagles on MNF in a Super Bowl rematch. Jess has concerns with KC’s problems moving forward. Golic and Smetty round out today recapping the fiasco that was the Las Vegas Grand Prix and if the race was a success. Have a great holiday and we’ll see you next week! • Mike and Jess analyze the aftermath of Texas A&M's victory over Mississippi State, highlighting the double firings of coaches Jimbo Fisher and Zach Arnett. The discussion delves into the questionable decision-making behind Fisher's $76 million buyout and its potential implications for contract offering large sums of guaranteed money in college football. The two speculate on possible successors for the Aggies' head coaching position, considering candidates like Dan Lanning and former Aggies Defensive Coordinator Mike Elko. Shifting to college football rankings, they explore the prospects of teams like Ohio State, Michigan, and Alabama and who will end up on top this season. Updating you on the Michigan scandal, Jim Harbaugh will attend a hearing this Friday and maybe he’s hoping for it to go well after referring to his squad as "America's Team." The hosts express amusement at the apparent unity of the Wolverines despite the controversies. Mike and Jess talk about college football punishments and the belief that the players should not be penalized for the actions of grown adults. Moving on, they share their thoughts on Heisman Trophy predictions, with a mention of CJ Stroud's comment about potential rigging if Marvin Harrison Jr. doesn’t leave with the trophy. The episode concludes with discussions on the Buffalo Bills' immense struggles in Monday Night Football, uncertainty in the AFC competition against the Kansas City Chiefs, and the major disappointments surrounding the F1 Vegas race, to which Jess says, “Congrats to people in Europe getting the preferential treatment.”

  • Golic is coming to you live from sleep-deprived Arizona. The darkness has taken over and just like the rest of (most) of us, daylight savings has us all exhausted. The Smetana household has made an exciting significant purchase, much to the surprise of an anti-appliance member. Jess had a somewhat torn weekend between the Clemson v Notre Dame game but stayed loyal to her Fighting Irish. Sam Hartman couldn’t pull through against the Tigers, despite both teams having struggling offenses. Did Dabo put the gas on after the pressure from Tyler from Spartanburg? The pair goes on to discuss the Michigan situation that’s starting to get juicier than a weeknight Bravo show. Jess gives her thoughts on rule breaking and the Big Ten’s willingness to make everyone angry. Golic & Smetty discuss who they think the Big Four are that will make the college football playoffs. Washington and Oregon? Michigan and Ohio State? Texas and Alabama? A lot of question marks. The two debate where to watch an international NFL game and Jess disappoints Mike. They talk AFC and NFC contenders and the fate of the “Brotherly Shove.” South Carolina women’s basketball team took on Notre Dame in Paris, but it was not the outcome they’d hoped for in the City of Light. Mike wraps up today with a surprising connection between F1 and golf, thanks to an infomercial device.

  • Golic and Smetty discuss their struggles to connect at Notre Dame games, causing Mike to miss Jess' famous baked goods. They shift to Halloween candy rules, emphasizing the importance of giving out full-size candy bars. They debate the appropriateness of unusual treats like hard-boiled eggs and toothbrushes. The conversation turns to dressing up on Halloween, with Mike sharing his go-to costume.
The duo discusses Notre Dame's HUGE victory against Pitt and the controversy surrounding Coach Pat Narduzzi's comments after the game. In the age of social media, no one is safe. They talk Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney's heated exchange with a sports radio caller and debate his impact on the program. Should he be apologetic for his verbal behavior? Turning to Michigan and its coach, Jim Harbaugh, whose contract is tabled due to allegations against the university on a cheating scandal, they question how this might affect the team's playoff prospects.
Guest Kristi Dosh joins the show to for an in-depth conversation surrounding NIL deals in college sports, emphasizing gender differences, hurdles for international athletes, and the future of NIL. She dives into the NIL Presumption, the ridiculous rules that are the opposite of what we do in our criminal justice system and shares a staggering statistic. The episode ends with a brief discussion of NFL trades, the struggles of the Raiders, and an early NFL Sunday game at 9:30 am that has Golic excited.

  • After a two-week hiatus, Golic is back! Jess joins from the New York studio and is happy to be back with her “tiny coffee”, prompting an in-depth conversation about the difference between European and American coffee. Mike gets a coffee 101 crash course where he learns that Starbucks does not serve a “proper” macchiato. Jess has a theory that baristas are the most harassed service workers and tells Mike about a nauseating order she saw on TikTok. Golic shares a coffee story that almost took out Wingo before they move on to discuss the shocking Vikings win over the 49ers on MNF, which stunned everyone but Mrs. Golic. Even with McCaffrey scoring TDs for 16 straight games, they still couldn’t pull through against Kirk Cousins’ 49 passes. Who’s going to control that division now? The duo brings up the downfall of Caleb Williams and USC (Lincoln Riley’s fault?). It’s not looking like they’re going to play for a Pac-12 Championship and Golic and Smetty are on Caleb Williams side if he decides to sit out the rest of the season. Michigan is looking like they might end up being the Patriots of college football if their current and new cheating accusations end up being true. Jess makes a case for why no one respects the NCAA and if Harbaugh might go to the NFL. The pair celebrates the recent Las Vegas Aces championship win and wonder if it’s good for the WNBA if these two super teams continue to dominate the league. They round out today’s episode with the F1 drama involving Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc being disqualified from the US Grand Prix in Austin and what left fans confused.

  • While Golic is still out, Smetty is joined by ESPN Countdown to GameDay host, Sideline Reporter and occasional Around the Horn participant, Harry Lyles Jr.! The two friends reminisce on seeing the SpongeBob SquarePants Broadway musical and are still stunned at the news from earlier in the year about Ethan Slater (SpongeBob) and Ariana Grande. How did a theater kid pull the Princess of Pop? There’s so much drama and it’s not just on stage. Jess gives Harry a platform to talk about the Atlanta Braves and discuss where the team is headed and if they are, in fact, cursed. Are the ’95 World Series to blame? Harry gives his World Series winner prediction before moving on to another exhausting topic – his work schedule. Smetty is shocked at Harry’s extensive hydration plan during his travels for ESPN. Harry gives his Top 5 GameDay atmospheres based off the games he’s been to so far this season. To Smetty’s surprise, Notre Dame is on the list, including Montana State and App State, but who is #1? Jess asks about fair food at the Red River Rivalry, but more shocking to Lyles was Harry Douglas’ unusual breakfast choice. Harry recaps his experience at the Oregon v Washington game. The pair discusses Dan Lanning’s decision making, the rest of the Ducks and Huskies season schedules and which one is more likely to make it to the playoffs. Jess asks Harry which football game has had the most insane ending so far, his thoughts on the Deion Sanders hype, where Georgia stands for him, and of course, we couldn’t end the pod without talking about Notre Dame’s HUGE win over USC. See you next week!

  • We’ve got a guest packed show as Golic is out traveling this week after calling Monday Night Football. First up is The Dan LeBatard Show’s very own Lucy Rohden! Smetty asks Rohden about attending the Red River Rivalry game. The Longhorns lost to the Sooners and Lucy lost to the fried fair foods. Fried Butter. Fried Fireball. Corndogs for breakfast. Oklahoma’s defense pleasantly surprised Rohden, but Texas’ repeated errors did not. According to her, Texas fans should be mad that they didn’t burn more time on the clock and the early turnovers that ultimately led to their 34-30 loss. Who is going to screw up the most in the Big-12? Is there truly competition in the conference? Jess is confused about Iowa State’s uniforms (Lucy explains and it’s not what you think). Lucy recently moved to Miami and is now a stone-cold hater. The two discuss the Miami v Georgia Tech game with the surprising end that has everyone talking. They talk USC and Iowa Women’s Basketball before Jess is joined by NBC Sports Notre Dame Football Sideline Reporter, Zora Stephenson. Stephenson will be reporting from the sidelines this weekend for the USC game, and she discusses why Fighting Irish fans should be a bit more optimistic. Zora gives the history of her “Chuck Cam”, how she preps for sideline reporting and, as the former sideline reporter for the Milwaukee Bucks, she gives her feelings on the Damian Lillard trade. They round out their discussion talking about the WNBA Finals and breakout star (and former ND grad) Jackie Young. Gojo joins Smetty to talk Notre Dame football. Does their offensive line suck? What went wrong in the Duke game? Who is the best five that need to be on the field? Can they beat USC this weekend? They’re holding on to hope. Join us next week!

  • Before we get into sports, Mike is NOT happy that Jess continues to bake with fruit, but they can both agree that taste palettes change with age. Jess comes for Chipotle arguing that they are no longer the gourmet king of quick food. Sam Hartman is the new Joe Burrow, according to TikTok. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce continue to take over the NFL. Jess finds it hilarious that people are mad that the NFL is capitalizing on the relationship, while Mike is here for it because it’s bringing new fans to the sport that weren’t spectators before the “Traylor”, “Tayvis”, “Swelce” era…whatever you want to call it. The two debate who are the best and worst teams in the NFL. It’s not looking good for Justin Fields and the Bears. Who’s to blame for the Chargers struggles? The Eagles and 49ers are both on top and New York sports are terrible (except the NY Liberty). Golic & Smetty recap the Notre Dame game against Duke. Golic gives Duke and Head Coach Mike Elko their flowers for the fantastic job he’s been doing with his team. Mike and Jess break down the 4th quarter targeting call against Jordan Botelho and discuss Notre Dame’s upcoming schedule where they play 4 undefeated, ranked teams all at night. Yikes. The duo rounds out today’s episode discussing the WNBA finals between the NY Liberty and the LV Aces, and the excitement to watch the Breanna Stewart and A’ja Wilson match-up.

  • The two Notre Dame grads are coming off a disappointing loss over the weekend to Ohio State. Despite the mistakes made all around (mostly the coaching staff), Golic still believes in Sam Hartman and his team. Smetty is quick to come to her Fighting Irish’s defense discussing the ways in which they outplayed the Buckeyes; the game coming down to an electrifying end in the final seconds. What’s next for Notre Dame this season? They sympathize with Colorado and Deion Sanders losing to Oregon in a blowout game and Golic doesn’t want people to discount what Coach Prime has accomplished for the Buffaloes. Switching gears…Mike brings up the last three undefeated teams left in the NFL. Jess is going with the 49ers bandwagon out of that group, even after Miami put up 70 on Denver. Is there any fixing the Broncos defense at this point? Does Smetty have confidence in her Steelers to make a playoff run? Head Coach Niele Ivey of the Notre Dame Women’s Basketball team joins the show to discuss the offseason, gaining players in the transfer portal, and going up against Dawn Staley in Paris in November. The three discuss how the game has changed and why people are more invested in women’s basketball. Smetty asks Ivey who she cheers for out of her former players in the WNBA. Mike and Jess wrap up discussing the relationship that has taken the internet by storm and why Jess doesn’t quite believe the hype. See you next week!
