Good afternoon. I would be delighted if you would join me as I walk in the hooley to Sherborne’s Abbey. The wind is far too loud so a bit of fast-forwarding might be necessary. I take you inside the Abbey to visit the bones of former Wessex kings. And then we read Bede’s famous telling of the story of ‘Angli’ slaves in Rome.
Apologies again for the sound at one point and thank you if you stayed to the end 🤓Send us a text

Good afternoon and forgive the cheeky frog in my throat as I read more from TS Eliot and Bede.
We awoke to snow in Dorset today, much to the delight of dog and horror of cat.
Wishing you all a restful Thursday on this beautiful planet.Send us a text

Good morning. I would be so delighted if you would join me for a quarter of an hour in my garden in the south west corner of the British Isles, where neither motorway nor city be there (true fact about Dorset!).
Today I encourage us all to have the courage of our own minds; we look at English hedges and we bring to a close Bede’s first book. There are five in total, so we are a fifth of a way through his epic history. Bravo if you’ve stayed with me thus far.
I’d be so grateful if some kind person could feedback as to whether my garden is too noisy a spot. I only hear the birds but there is a nearby road, alas. 🙋♀️🌳Send us a text

Dear friends, life can be so tough. Routine can help in dark times and so the routine of daily readings, whether Bede or Tintin, especially out-loud, is something to hold on to. Little life-jackets, are these simple tools, to get us through dark patches. Counting blessings, too, is another life-jacket to turn to. Nothing can fix but lots and lots of things can comfort and soothe.
Thank you for joining me and best wishes to you. 🤗Send us a text

You’ve got to admire St Augustine for his frank questions! Are you ready to get baffled by Wulfys? Tonight’s episode is just for the stout-hearted.
Tomorrow I’m going to take you into a deep, dark wood.. as the moon waxes and winter draws near. Alone with the leaves, the graves and the bats 🦇 .
Please do leave comments on what you would like more or less of.

(I apologise for a few moments of stumbling words today. I’m a little under the weather. ) Today I would be delighted if you would join me as I take you inside Sherborne Abbey as it prepares for the Service of Remembrance. Followed by Victorian enlightenment in Bedlam Hospital and closing with more wisdom
from Pope Gregory, with an instruction to separate the wheat from the chaff. 🙋♀️Send us a text

Oh wild west wind! Do join me this evening for a few words from Shelley, some nuggets of information about Northumbrian scriptoriums, an update on Sherborne Abbey’s origins, and St Augustine’s next questions to Pope Gregory. Can one lie with one’s stepmother?
A peaceful Saturday to all and thank you for honouring me with your ears 🤗🙋♀️🍂Send us a text

Art galleries, the origin of Sherborne, teetolling and Bede are gentle pondered this evening. I would be so delighted if you would join me. But please note the unattractive word ‘anus’ makes an unwelcome appearance. Episode 30 today. I’m very grateful for your company on this walk into the unknown..

It was for days like these that I decided to put distance between emotional strain and my head resting on the pillow by reading aloud from books. Books, poems, art, music, these things can help us in times of strain beyond measure. They bring knowledge, bring joy and bring an intercession in the strain in which one can breathe and feel whole again before stepping off again on the tricky path.
