Cathy and Troy discuss Kamala Harris' brutal takedown of Bret Baier during an obviously set up ambush interview on Fox News. Despite being designed to make her look bad, Kamala came away looking stronger than ever.
Donald Trump has completely gone bye bye. His campaign team cites exhaustion after he cancels event after event. But one Town Hall stands out, as Trump refuses to take questions from the crowd and instead slowly sways on stage to music for 40 minutes, while a dumbfounded crowd wonders wtf is going on?
Now imagine the media coverage if Biden had swayed silently on stage to music for 40 minutes without speaking. We literally had to invent a term: "sanewashing" to describe how the media treats Donald Trump, and its pathetic, because if Trump wins journalists will die.
And we put on our tinfoil hats to delve into conspiracies around the potential invoking of the 25th Amendment, which provides a method to rapidly remove a president over incompetence, if Trump becomes President, as the 2024 election draws near.

Cathy and Troy break down the fire hose of lies on the internet surrounding the federal government's response to hurricane Helene. MAGA has successfully weaponized messaging around disaster relief to play on anger and frustration for votes, and yes scapegoat migrants yet again.
No FEMA is not taking people's property. No survivors are not only receiving $750 dollars while we give billions to Ukraine or to house migrants. No people are not being denied resources. No FEMA is not out of money. No Biden did not take money out of FEMA's disaster relief budget to help migrants.
Trump is the only President to divert funds away from disaster relief to the border. He's also the only President to deny federal aid to a state, when he said no to California in 2018 during wildfire season.
Two former Trump aides told Politico that decision was in fact political. He only changed his mind when he was told there were more Trump voters in Orange County, CA than the entire state of Iowa.
And, Cathy read and annotated all 165 pages of the released January 6th Trump indictment that Judge Tanya Chutkan made public at Jack Smith's request. And it's horrifying.
Cathy and Troy give their historian perspective on just how much of a threat Donald Trump is to the Republic, how it compares to the scandals of Nixon, Reagan, and George W. Bush, and why, one month out from the election, Americans need to know the forces that want to rip away their democracy are actively at work setting up for round two.

Cathy is joined by friend of the show Ryan, the Just Buy Less Coffee version of Steve Kornacki, our electoral big board correspondent, to discuss the math on getting Kamala Harris to 270 electoral votes in what will be one of the closest elections in U.S. history...if the polls are right...which they probably aren't.
But how will we know if the polls are wrong in Trump's favor or Kamala's? Ryan and Cathy lay out some predictive signs for early in the evening on election night that will give clues as to whether it's time to break out the champagne, or put away the champagne and break out the whiskey.

Cathy and Troy break down the second assassination attempt of Donald Trump. Do the words of the man and party create an atmosphere of ongoing political violence and terrorism?
Especially when the Haitian community in Springfield is currently being terrorized by MAGA lies with no accountability, and Arab Americans testifying before Congress experience hate in a committee hearing on hate crime?
Speaking of terrorism, Israel just matched terror with terror by engaging in one of the most horrifying and audacious attacks in history.
And the Federal Reserve slashes interest rates for the first time in 4 years, signifying finally a soft landing for inflation without a corresponding recession. Economics teacher Cathy breaks down what this means for the pocketbooks of Americans.

Cathy and Troy are back and Troy is broadcasting from Spain, as Kamala Harris makes Swift work of Donald Trump in the 2nd presidential debate. We break down the highlights and lowlights and breathe a sigh of relief to once again have a candidate that can form a coherent sentence. She looked damn Presidential too.
Then Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala, rounding out one of the worst possible nights for Donald Trump.
And we reflect on the solemn anniversary of 9/11, and the infuriating tie to January 6th, as Trump supporters achieved what Al Qaeda never could: an attack on the U.S. capitol.

Cathy flies solo for this brief interlude episode, while Troy moves to Europe, and discusses the Democratic National Convention, the acceptance speech of Kamala Harris to be the Democratic nominee, the legendary oratory of the Obamas, and four of the greatest days of television for political junkies in history. It was political Coachella and Cathy is here for it.

Cathy and Troy break down Trump's complete collapse since the ascension of Kamala Harris to Democratic nominee. Trump's handlers have officially lost control as they beg him to stay on message. Trump gives bizarre press conferences, racist conspiracy-laden rallies, and most recently a disastrous appearance on Twitter Spaces with Elon Musk, where Trump slurred his words for over an hour.
Did he lose his dentures? Or is the once future American dictator in the middle of a complete free-fall of physical and mental health?
Meanwhile Kamala Harris and Tim Walz draw massive crowds and bring enthusiasm not seen since another historic presidential candidacy in 2008.
And we are joined by Paul Cox, a union leader from central Florida, to talk Florida politics, the realities of being a unionized worker in a "right-to-work" state, the progressive pro-union politics of Harris and Walz, and how unions are on the front lines mobilizing to stop the ultimate billionaire stooge, anti-worker scab Donald Trump from returning to the White House.

Cathy and Troy discuss the dark horse pick of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to be Kamala Harris' running mate. As usual, Cathy called it. Walz is a midwestern governor so charming he even got AOC and Joe Manchin to agree he was a great pick.
Progressive on policy, Walz was the first governor to codify abortion rights after the fall of Roe. He instituted a free school lunch program in Minnesota, along with paid family leave, capped insulin costs, and expanded backround checks and red flag laws for guns sales. As a congressman, he even donated everything he received from the NRA to charity after the Parkland school shooting.
The ticket is set. Trump needs to be shitting his pants...oh wait.
Plus we discuss the other contenders including popular Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro who was the favorite, and why at the end of the day Walz was the best option.
Meanwhile Trump tells a room full of black people that Kamala Harris isn't black.
So, that's how the race is going.

Cathy and Troy break down the historic news that President Joe Biden will not be seeking re-election, passing the torch to the next generation by endorsing Kamala Harris for President.
Biden will now go down in history as one of the greatest presidents for his selfless move to save democracy when a path to beating Donald Trump became more and more unclear.
Biden gives a mini farewell address that has George Washington farewell vibes. He can now retire into elder statesman status, and become the most senior figure in the Democratic Party. He also can just be President for the next few months without having to run for President, ending one of the most effective presidential terms in history.
Now the focus shifts to Harris, who would be the first female and female person of color president in American history. As Trump and the GOP shit all over themselves trying to hit Harris with race and gender attacks, Harris shines in massive early fundraising and messaging as she wins support of all her rivals and of the Democratic base.
And Cathy deep dives the potential Harris vice presidential pick as we explore the extradinary talent waiting on the bench for the Democrats. Who will be the vice president to the first woman president in history? Let us know your thoughts.

Cathy and Troy discuss the attempted assassination of Donald Trump and the politics of violence and conspiracy.
Trump pledges unity, then defines unity as American loyalty to Trumpism, and his own absolute immunity.
Then he chooses J.D. Vance to be his vice president, a MAGA extremist who opposes no-fault divorce, supports a national abortion ban, and who is even more pro-Russia than Trump.
Judge Aileen Cannon throws out Trump's Mar-a-Lago stolen documents case in an obvious play to be the next Trump Supreme Court nomination.
And Cathy deep dives the history of Presidential assassinations and attempts, from Andrew Jackson to Donald Trump.

Cathy and Troy continue our discussion of Biden potentially stepping down from the nomination and handing it off to Kamala Harris. Many more donors and key players have chimed in, including Nancy Pelosi and George Clooney, the latter signifying that Biden may have lost Hollywood, a key source of deep-pocketed donors that Democrats need to compete.
While the choice remains with Biden, and we support the Democratic nominee against Trump whomever it may be, the time is running out to make a decision.
Meanwhile, Kevin Roberts of the Heritage Foundation wants us all to know that fascism is coming to the United States in a "bloodless revolution" and there isn't a God damn thing we can do about it.
AOC files impeachment articles against Clarence Thomas and Sam Alito.
The right-wing gets donkey punched in the UK and French elections. Could this be a bellwhether for the U.S. in the fall?
And Cathy deep dives how elections work in these nations with a focus on the different parties and processes, and the lessons and warnings we can take away from what just happened across the pond.

Cathy and Troy break down the disastrous debate performance from Joe Biden last week, and discuss the growing calls for him to step into elder statesman mode and back another candidate. Biden has accomplished so much in four years. How will the next few weeks affect his legacy?
Is it now time for Kamala Harris to step up and be the first woman of color President in history? What will take to make that happen, and can she beat back the onslaught of fascism?
And the Supreme Court rolls out the red carpet to make Donald Trump a king by declaring that Presidents cannot be prosecuted for official acts. This means if Trump wins he will be above the law, with a fundamentalist religious cult Supreme Court that has positioned itself to remove the independence of the judiciary.
And Cathy deep dives how we got here: tracing the history of Presidential immunity back to Nixon, when it was just a theory, to Clinton, where the justices declared that Presidents can be sued, to Trump as dictator in waiting.

Cathy and Troy break down the consequences of Trump's proposed economic plan: cut taxes for the rich, deport immigrant workers, and skyrocket the costs of consumer goods by spiking import tariffs, which economists say would lead to a recession in the U.S. by next year, while increasing inflation - leading to the S word: Stagflation, a combination of slow growth and high prices that we saw in the 1970's.
The Trump campaign is preparing for a disastrous debate performance against President Biden this week by pre-suggesting that Biden will be on drugs, and only able to form a coherent thought when jacked up on performance enhancers and anti-depressants. Every accusation is a confession with cocaine addled diaper Don.
Conspiracy network InfoWars is finally shut down by Alex Jones' bankruptcy trustee, ending a nightmare of American culture that destroyed hundreds of lives.
And Cathy leads a deep dive discussion of the biggest Presidential debates of the modern era in preparation for the nightmare Trump Biden debate coming this week. Kennedy was TV ready while Nixon had the flu; Reagan dumbed down the Presidency to make it cool; and Clinton came out on top in a Presidential 3-way...

Cathy and Troy break down the recent Supreme Court decisions: to lift the ban on bump stocks, a device that turns a semi-automatic rifle into a machine gun, and to allow the continued use of the abortion pill.
The Trump presidential immunity case ruling is imminent, with two members of SCOTUS, Alito and Thomas, firmly entrenched within the Trump insurrectionist movement.
Trump attempts another sham grassroots event, attending a service at black church in Detroit, and literally everyone in the crowd is white. The only black people in the room were the same Maga operatives who travel everywhere with Trump pretending to be adoring fans to build the narrative of black support.
Trump then attended a Turning Point USA event where a "white boy summer" flag was unveiled, a slogan used by neo-nazi Nick Fuentes' group, the Groypers. Trump held a fake event at a black church in the morning, then partied with white supremacists in the evening, and still wants to pretend he isn't a racist.
And Cathy gives a deep dive into Trump's plan to replace income tax with import tariffs, a dumpster fire idea that will put all the burden of funding the federal government on the poor by skyrocketing the price of goods.

Cathy and Troy discuss Trump's "let them eat cake" moment as he tells his supporters standing in triple digit heat to see him speak that he doesn't care about their safety, only their votes.
Speaking of let them eat cake, the European Union elections in France go full fascist, as the far-right, nazi-sympathizing party of Marine Le Pen destroys the centrist party of President Emmanuel Macron, setting up a showdown for control of the French parliament in elections this summer.
Is fascism coming to France?
And we deep dive potential reforms to U.S. Senate to save the body and American democracy as a whole by looking at how upper houses work in other countries and what we can learn from them, as the world barrels toward 3 crucial elections this year in the U.S., U.K., and France that will decide the future of global democracy.

Cathy and Troy break down the developing ceasefire proposal put forth by President Biden to end the conflict in Gaza. The deal includes a withdrawal of Israeli forces and the rebuild of Gaza, along with a return of displaced Palestinians to their homes.
Is this the beginning of an end to the genocide and the start of a new era of Palestinian statehood? Bibi Netanyahu's right-wing coalition is adamantly opposed to it, but the Israeli people want it...and so does Hamas. Will Bibi's political opponents in the parliament back him on the deal if he loses the support of his right-wing base?
Donald Trump is convicted by a jury of falsifying business records to cover up a scheme to launder hush-money payments to porn stars. And he is still the Republican nominee for President. Will the nation elect its first felon to the White House? What does that mean for the U.S and for the world?
And Cathy brings us a deep-dive on generational responses to the Trump conviction.

Cathy and Troy break down the verbal melee in Congress in the middle of the House Oversight Committee meeting, when Marjorie Taylor Greene decided to talk trash...then Jasmine Crockett made her eat it. But really isn't this what the House of Representatives was designed for?
Biden agrees to debates with Trump...because Trump is an idiot and didn't realize you don't have to challenge your presidential rival to a debate, those are scheduled for the fall right before the election. But Biden calls Trump's bluff and now we get another round of the absolute horror show that is the Trump/Biden debate. Awesome.
Biden works on a deal with the Saudis to bring them into the fold on Israel in exchange for a ceasefire agreement. Will Israel agree to it?
The International Criminal Court issues arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu and the leader of Hamas while the President of Iran dies in a helicopter crash.
And Kansas City Chiefs Kicker Harrison Butker decides to step in shit, lecturing college graduate women about how much better their life would be if they just gave up their careers and committed to making babies. Will Taylor Swift respond to her boyfriend's jackass teammate?

Cathy and Troy analyze Biden's decision to withhold offensive weapons from Israel after Benjamin Netanyahu crosses Biden's red line and attacks Rafah, and an investigation reveals U.S. weapons have been used to commit war crimes. Now all eyes on Tel Aviv and Washington as the world turns against Bibi, and Biden now has to decide if he will fully abandon the brutal Israeli response against the Gaza Palestinians.
While campus protests accelerate in the name of establishing an Arab Palestinian single state, i.e. ending the state of Israel. But what will that mean if the only government lined up to take control of such a state is Hamas? A far right, Islamic fundamentalist, anti-gay, anti-woman, anti-Jewish regime, with 8 million Jews living in Israel. What is the plan? And where is the secular democratic leadership that can demand rights for the Palestinians without forcing a mass removal of the Jews, and the expansion of extremist sectarian fascism?
And creepy Alabama Senator Katie Britt introduces a bill to create a federal registry of pregnant people. Trump tries to claim his rally hit 100,000 attendees on a boardwalk in New Jersey with a capacity of 25,000, and the local media repeats the lie. And Cathy pontificates on the potential of a larger Russian invasion of Europe in the first ever edition of the segment: Cathy smokes the tea leaves.

Cathy and Troy break down the looming attack from the Israeli Defense Forces on the city of Rafah, the last vestige of security for the people of Gaza, what the choices are for Biden now, and how this moment more than any other will define his legacy.
Hamas agrees to a tentative ceasefire proposal written by Egypt to release hostages in exchange for a brief cessation of hostilities, but how will Bibi and the hardliners in the Israeli government respond?
Protests grow on college campuses. Some are met with horrific racism, as in the case of Ole Miss. While some occupy buildings and become radicalized , and still others broker negotiations to achieve their goals from the universities.
Cathy and Troy break down the history of college campus protests and draw parallels with the campus demonstrations of the late 1960's.
And dog killer Kristi Noem wins Troy's lie of the week. And it's a complete disaster.
