The BYU Cougars are continuing to search high and low for talent to add to Kevin Young's BYU basketball roster and that hunt led them to an offer to Orem High School's emerging force Chamberlain Burgess as Jake Hatch explains that the method to KYU's madness with the BYU men's basketball program is to find the top talent no matter where it's located.
Jake then talked one-on-one with BYU wide receiver Kody Epps as Epps explains what he and the rest of the BYU football program learned last year in the Big 12 Conference that will have them better prepared to endure the rigors of Power 4 football this fall and what he expects to see from the quarterback position as Kalani Sitake leads Brigham Young University (BYU).

The BYU Cougars 2024 campaign is going to be one of close calls and wild swings according to a simulation of the BYU football season on EA Sports College Football 25 as Jake Hatch reported what the video game shows for Kalani Sitake and Brigham Young University (BYU) as they enter their season season as members of the Big 12 Conference this fall.

The BYU Cougars and 133 other FBS teams will celebrate with millions of college football fans as EA College Football 25 finally is released to the public at-large Monday and Jake Hatch says the ratings for Kalani Sitake and the BYU football program are pretty similar to real life, leaving a lot of room for BYU to surprise, both in virtual reality and in the Big 12 Conference in real life.
Jake then talked about the commitment of Sugar-Salem High School standout Boyd Sorensen to Brigham Young University (BYU) and why he thinks Sorensen's addition is a "Jay Hill special," as Sorensen is the type of player Hill brought to Weber State during his days in Ogden and they became household names and this could be that same deal, this time in Provo.

The BYU Cougars completed Kevin Young's initial BYU men's basketball roster with the addition of NBA Africa Academy product Khadim Mboup, who is re-classifying from the 2025 recruitng class to the 2024 class in order to enroll right away and begin playing for KYU, which Jake Hatch believes is a nice future play for BYU basketball as they add a young, dynamic talent.
Jake then talked about the rumors surrounding conference realignment with some people believing that Big 12 Conference commissioner Brett Yormark may be narrowing in on blowing up the ACC and picking off the Clemson Tigers and Florida State Seminoles as he seeks to further establish and bolster the Big 12, possibly at the demise of another power five league.

The BYU Cougars enjoyed a strong showing at Big 12 Media Days inside Allegiant Stadium, Home of the Las Vegas Raiders, and Jake Hatch says the comments made by BYU football coach Kalani Sitake, Brigham Young University (BYU) athletic director Tom Holmoe, and the players in attendance seemed to indicate that BYU feels like they are right where they want to be right now.
Jake then talked about some of the notable changes that were revealed with the release of the new football roster with the removal of Cade Fennegan, Peter Falaniko, Ty Burke and Bentley Redden headlining the departures along with Jake sharing what he knows about running back LJ Martin's status ahead of the coming season in the Big 12 Conference.

The BYU Cougars are looking to bounceback from a disappointing end of their first season in the Big 12 Conference this fall and BYU football coach Kalani Sitake says he has confidence that his program will have an improved on-field product spearheaded by an offense that will be more of what BYU fans have been used to as compared to the struggles of 2023.
Jake Hatch and Kalani Sitake then talked about the defense and what defensive coordinator Jay Hill is endeavoring to do as he looks to field a more competitive unit in his second season at Brigham Young University (BYU) as the Cougars will need the defense to be able to hold up better against some of the withering Big 12 offenses they will face this season.

The BYU Cougars were pegged to finish 13th in the Big 12 Conference's preseason football media poll Tuesday and Jake Hatch believes it's a fair projection for Kalani Sitake and the BYU football program while also arguing it's a perfect spot for Brigham Young University (BYU) to emerge and surprise Big 12 pundits should the hype match the substance on the gridiron.

The BYU Cougars announced they will don throwbakc uniforms that pay homage to the 1996 BYU football program this fall when they face the Kansas State Wildcats in their Big 12 Conference opener and Jake Hatch explained what he feels about the move and why it means more to him than most seemingly innocuous uniform reveals from Brigham Young University (BYU).

The BYU Cougars are in offseason preparation for the BYU men's basketball program but the Big 12 Conference schedule matrix released Thursday is a win for Keving Young and the BYU basketball program as it gives them their toughest games in the Marriott Center and that is a big break for BYU hoops as they seek to contend in the Big 12 next season.

The BYU Cougars have made a number of big moves with Kevin Young and the BYU men's basketball program, but one that will have to wait a year is putting athletes into the NBA via the NBA Draft, but Jake Hatch argues it is only a matter of time before it happens and that KYU will have Brigham Young University (BYU) regularly churning out NBA talent annually.
BYU continued to add to Kevin Young's staff in Provo Wednesday with the hire of former Wisconsin Herd head coach Jordan Brady, who will serve as the director of player development for BYU, and Jake believes it's just another sign that BYU Athletics are finally getting the opportunity to step forward and be a key pillar to promote the university.

The BYU Cougars got a boost to their fortunes as soon as this fall when the NCAA announced that there were no longer restirctions on how many coaches could coach up athletes on the BYU football program, officially opening the door to allow Chad Kauha'aha'a, Gary Andersen, Al Pupunu and Matt Mitchell, among others, to impart their wisdom to Kalani Sitake's squad.
Jake Hatch then talked about yet another commitment for BYU in Mountain Ridge High School product Kendal Wall, who figures to bring his expansive frame and athleticism to boost the outlook on the defensive line for Brigham Young University (BYU), something that Jay Hill, Kelly Poppinga and Sione Po'uha, among others, are in sore need of as they compete in the Big 12.

The BYU Cougars are well aware of what the outside perception of Kalani Sitake and his BYU football program is and they are embracing the underdog role as they prepare to enter their second season as members of the Big 12 Conference and Jake Hatch says the feeling around the players and coaches is one of optimism and motivation to prove their doubters wrong.
Jake then talked about the addition of Cole Cogshell to the 2025 recruiting class as he figures to add to a burgeoning group of BYU defensive linemen under the tutelage of defensive coordinator Jay Hill and Cogshell's upside shows he could be a solid contributor whether he's working with Kelly Poppinga or Sione Po'uha on the BYU defensive line.

The BYU Cougars wrapped up a busy recruting weekend for Kalani Sitake and the BYU football program with three verbal commitments, led by Sultana, California four-star prospect LaMason Waller, who picked Brigham Young University (BYU) as his destination despite interest from the biggest names in college football and Fesi Sitake played a big role in securing his pledge.
Jake Hatch then talked about the addition of Alpharette, Georgia tight end prospect Tucker Kelleher, who has been labeled a "project" in some circles but Jake argues that Kelleher is the right type of project if you want to label him that with his elite size for the position and helping BYU continue to mine talent out of the Peach State as they build a pipeline in the Deep South.
Finally, La Habra, California two-way prospect Ulavai Fetuli completed the trio of commitments for BYU over the weekend and whether he plays for Kevin Gilbride or Kelly Poppinga, his addition is a win-win for Aaron Roderick or Jay Hill and Kenneth Rooks and James Corrigan shined on the USA Olympic Team qualifying stage and Cooper Jones showed out on the Korn Ferry Tour.

The BYU Cougars are holding their biggest official visit weekend of the offseason as Kalani Sitake and the BYU football program welcome more than a dozen prospects to Brigham Young University (BYU) this weekend to get a feel for the school, community and the football program as they go about determining where they will play in the college ranks.
Jake Hatch then talked about the BYU men's basketball program as he discussed what he thinks Kevin Young may do with the starting lineup of a deep and talented BYU basketball roster along with where KYU may look to fill his final scholarship on the roster and what the expectations are for BYU hoops in the Big 12 Conference this fall and beyond.

The BYU Cougars are happy to be members of the Big 12 Conference and if the league intends to expand as commissioner Brett Yormark has alluded to, Brigham Young University (BYU) would likely be more content with western expansion to make for more balanced travel against having to travel extensively to the east coat to play ACC schools.
If Washington State and Oregon State joined the Big 12, it would mark a significant expansion for the conference, enhancing its geographic footprint, competitive balance, and overall appeal. Integrating these Pacific Northwest schools would bring unique benefits and challenges, fundamentally reshaping the Big 12's landscape.
Financially, the Big 12 would benefit from increased media rights and sponsorship opportunities due to its expanded market presence. The addition of Washington State and Oregon State could lead to renegotiated television contracts, potentially boosting revenue for all member schools. However, the conference would need to carefully manage the distribution of resources to ensure competitive equity and maintain the quality of athletic and academic programs.
If Washington State and Oregon State joined the Big 12, the conference would experience significant geographic, competitive, cultural, and financial enhancements. While the transition would come with logistical challenges, the overall benefits would position the Big 12 as a more robust and nationally influential conference, enriching the college football landscape with new rivalries, expanded reach, and diverse competitive opportunities.
BYU football is looking to bounce back in 2024 with a bowl eligible season and Jake Hatch joined Drake Toll to break down how the Kalani Sitake and BYU would accomplish the feat, likely requiring the Cougars to clean up in the non-conference against the SMU Mustangs and Wyoming Cowboys as well as topping conference foes like the Baylor Bears, Arizona State Sun Devils and Houston Cougars to get to the six-win plateau.
Finally, the show wrapped up with some thoughts on what player(s) will be required for BYU to elevate themselves this fall as Jake highlighted LJ Martin as a player to watch along with Darius Lassiter and Keanu Hill while the quarterback derby between Jake Retzlaff, Gerry Bohanon and McCae Hillstead will need to sort itself out to give BYU their best chances to win.
