He believes that people should avoid staying in the same city as their children and live on their own. Post-retirement living decisions, according to Mr. Garg, is totally a personal call. It depends largely on yourself and your partner. Mr. Garg believes that proper mind space and consideration of social relationships influence living situations. He also talks about making friends and maintaining a social network.
Mr. Garg throws light on other options like retirement facilities, travel plans, city to city movement etc. Ultimately, he believes that planning is the key! -

It means different things to different people, but for everyone, it's the freedom from constant action, it’s about doing things for yourself and it’s about enjoying the life you’ve created for yourself by working for so many years. In the retirement series with Mr. Garg, today's discussion is delicate but extremely important. Today Mr. Arani and Mr. Garg discussed on How to deal with the loss of a loved one, post-retirement.
While losing a loved one (especially partner/spouse) is traumatic and extremely difficult, the post-retirement stage makes it more difficult to deal with. Mr. Garg suggests that in such a situation it is important for people to be accepting and prepared. According to Mr. Garg , accepting that life and death are both natural aspects beyond our control makes it easier to cope with loss. The suddenness of the loss and loneliness is a major challenge that needs to be tackled. Mr. Garg believes that Family is the most important support system and that people rely on family to deal with such losses. However, while mourning acceptable, accepting the loss and moving on is also very important. Loss of a loved one can also trigger maintained ailments. And in this case, seeing a doctor and self-care is necessary.
Lastly, Mr. Garg mentions that while losing a loved one can be traumatic, people should always be open to moving on. -
