She focuses on how we create the conditions for transformative dialogue at work and her research is at the intersection of leadership, change, dialogue and mindfulness. She is on the Thinkers50 ranking of global business thinkers and is ranked in HR Magazine’s Most Influential Thinkers listing.
Megan has written Dialogue in Organizations and Mind Time and she has just published Speak Out, Listen Up which is the second edition of her bestselling book Speak Up, with Financial Times Publishing. Speak Up was shortlisted for the CMI Management Book of the Year 2020.
Megan is a contributor to Harvard Business Review and MIT Sloan Management Review. She has presented her research on the BBC, CNBC and Deutsche Welle and she writes for numerous academic and practice-based journals. Her research on employee activism was nominated for the Thinkers50 Breakthrough Idea Award 2021 and her TED talk on the topic has been viewed more than one and a half million times.
Her latest research focuses on ‘spaciousness’; how, whilst attending to the task, we can also create, hold and value the space to innovate, reflect, learn and develop relationships, in workplaces that are increasingly experienced as instrumental and addicted to busyness.
She is mother to two wonderful teenage daughters who test her regularly on her powers of mindfulness and dialogue.

Marcus believes there is no external force more influential to human behavior than culture. He leverages his scholarly work as a clinical professor at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, and the many years he spent in marketing as an advertising executive—most recently as the head of strategy at Wieden+Kennedy, New York—to bridge the academic-practitioner gap and use this knowledge to help people get people to take action.
Throughout his career, he has been acknowledged for his strategic, creative, and scholarly contributions (American Advertising Federation’s Advertising Hall of Achievement inductee, Thinkers50 Radar Distinguished Achievement Award, Cannes Lion Creative Strategy juror, Ad Age's 40 Under 40 recipient, and Crain’s Business 40 Under 40 recipient) as well as launched successful campaigns like “Cliff Paul” for State Farm, the Made In America Music Festival, and Google’s “Real Tone” technology—among others. He is the author of the best-selling book, For The Culture, which examines the relationship between culture and human behavior. He has spent the last decade helping organizations—from Fortune 500 companies to startups and non-profits—use this knowledge to create culturally contagious ideas that get people to move. She is the author of the books, The Heart of Science – Engineering Footprints, Fingerprints, & Imprints, and The Heart of Science – Engineering Fine Print published by the Society of Women Engineers, and all sales proceeds go to a scholarship for underrepresented minority women in STEM. She is a sought-after speaker, globally, on a multitude of topics such as innovation, leadership and STEM advocacy and has featured in local, national and international media.
Jayshree and I talked about learning from failure and she told me: "People are not that comfortable with not knowing and if it doesn't work the way they wished for it to work, it's a failure. Emulating this scientific approach, can benefit career development because you can just adopt a mindset of continuous experimentation and learning … See, we can only learn if we act. And if we act, we can fail. Of course, if you don't act, you can fail too, because you just failed to innovate … embracing failure is part of the learning journey. You build resilience, adaptability, willingness to take risk."

For the past three years, Amy has co-hosted HBR’s popular Women at Work podcast, which examines the struggles and successes of women in the workplace.
She is frequently sought out by media outlets for her perspective on workplace dynamics, conflict, and difficult conversations. Her advice has been featured in The New York Times, Fast Company, Marketplace, and The Austin American-Statesman, as well as on WNYC, the BBC, and ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation).
Amy and I talked about managing conflict and she told me: "It is the nature of human relationships that we are going to have conflict, we're going to have disagreements. It's not always going to be perfect, and that's okay … we are just told that conflict has to be heated and mean, and we conflate it with war and with fracturing of relationships, and I would encourage your listeners, choose the three people in your life who you feel closest to, who you trust. My guess is you have conflict with them, right? This is part of being in relationship with other people, and so we have to learn how to embrace it as something that gives us some positive benefits rather than something that should be avoided at all costs."

She told me "it's not always the obvious path that gets you where you want to go. Really stop and think about your strengths. You want to go and interview for a job where you are exactly what they're after. If you get very clear on what you're good at, there will be a company out there that really wants what you have to offer. So it's being very good at articulating that, both in a CV, a covering letter, and then with my clients, I will put them through interview practice, and help them get better and better at articulating what their strengths are ... So rather than comparing and despairing ... Think about what advantages do you have over the other candidates?"

Dr Brennan Jacoby, a philosopher and the founder of Philosophy at Work, and I discussed this, his work with Philosophy at Work and much more on Episode 69 of the Reframe & Reset Your Career podcast.

Recent projects include helping Deloitte UK cultivate a growth mindset, supporting The Wellcome Trust to explore trust in healthcare, and enhancing curiosity across Sony Music’s global community.
Brennan works across industries and sectors (examples include groups from Herbert Smith Freehills, Sky, Sony Music, Slaughter and May, Hogan Lovells, Capital One Bank, Deloitte, Media Arts Lab, Ropes and Gray, The Guardian, Nike, and The Financial Times), and with global teams, having delivered sessions in the UK, Ireland, USA, Germany, Belgium, Portugal, Denmark, Spain, Australia and Taiwan.
In addition to his role with Philosophy at Work, Brennan is a fellow at the Royal Society of the Arts. Originally from Detroit Michigan, he studied in Sydney, Australia and is now based in the UK.
Brennan talked with me about the benefits of philosophy and how it helps to develop your thinking and told me “complex problem solving, critical thinking and creative thinking are things that are needed for the future of work, for the fourth Industrial Revolution and that's what you get, those are the muscles that are built up when you do philosophy because you're given a tough challenge … doing philosophy is good for careers because we know that careers these days are so dependent on not just what you know but how you make sense of the data and also how you move from one thing you know to the next right or from one job to the next and so it's good not just for work but it's particularly good for careers because of careers being about how you navigate things right how you move from one point to the next.”

Looking for insights and strategies to boost your job search in the new year? As we're coming up to the start of the new year, I wanted to experiment with a different format and this episode focuses entirely on job search and has bite size clips from some of the previous guests on the podcast.
Now that there are close to 70 episodes, some new listeners are not sure where to start so hopefully this will help. If this is successful, I will look to create episodes on different themes including leadership, mindset, communication and building your network. Please let me know what you think.
The episode will begin by looking at mindset and its importance, especially if you have been laid off and are looking to start your job search with Amii Barnard-Bahn (Episode 18) and Octavia Goredema (Episode 57).
The focus moves onto how to get your job search started and some strategies that may help with Minola Jac (Episode 50), Emilie West (Episode 12), Jenny Foss (Episode 49), Dorie Clark (Episode 5) and Simon Alexander Ong (Episode 11).
Following this will be insights on the interview process and ideas to help you stand out and ace that interview with Shola Kaye (Episode 14), Navid Nazemian (Episode 44) and Paul Berry (Episode 38).
We finish with ideas to keep your motivation going if you're not getting the results you want and ways of managing failure with Dr Kurt Nelson (Episode 61) and Tammy Gooler Loeb (Episode 59).

One of my exercises I do with coaching clients is basically going back into the past, doing an inventory of who I am, what brought me here, what are the things that make me who I am, and then going into the future and saying, well, who do I want to be?"
