Today's episode zeroes in on not one, but TWO women filled with God's remarkable Spirit of wisdom (Ephesians 1:17).
As we turn to Esther 7, we will see the wisdom that God gave Esther not to blurt out everything she needed to say, as though she was giving the king "a piece of her mind." Instead, she exercised wisdom in WHAT she said and HOW she said it.
Likewise, we look at Abigail in 1 Samuel 25. and how she, too, was "one smart cookie" in what she said and how she said it.
Lessons on how to speak and conduct ourselves with godly wisdom, up next on Rinse and Repeat!

You pray and pray and PRAY over something, and nothing seems to happen.
You are desperate for a situation to change but matters only worsen the more you plead with God about them.
Today on Rinse and Repeat, we see a night when at first, nothing seems to be happening at all. A king, in his chambers, has insomnia and calls for a boring history book to be read to him, that he might fall back to sleep. And yet, though nothing seems to be happening at all, that very history book, on that very night, is the answer to all the prayers of all God's people!
Today's message in Esther 6 is about us walking by faith and not by sight when it seems nothing is happening. I have entitled the message "Even When I Don't See It," because even when we can't see it or feel it, we can rest assured, God is working.
Turn to Esther, chapter 6 for today's episode of Rinse and Repeat!

Stand on a chair.
Is it easier to pull people up to you or for you to be pulled down to them?
The illustration serves. It is much easier for us to be pulled down into all sorts of things, so who we choose to be with is ever so important.
Haman’s friends prove the point perfectly, as we see in Esther 5.
That, and so much more, today on Rinse and Repeat.

When faced with something serious, we can agonize (become anxious, panic, sorrowful), we can avoid (numb things, deny how bad it is), or we can appeal to God for real help for real trouble.
In Esther Chapter 4, we see examples of each reaction - agonizing, avoiding, and appealing - and we stand to learn how to appeal to God when faced with difficulty.
So many practical lessons in this historical book of Esther!

It is natural to want people to like us.
But people-pleasing and the need for other people’s constant approval can quickly become an idol.
Today in Esther 3, we see Haman grow enraged when one man, Mordecai, will not bow to him. The rest of the kingdom bows, but that’s just not good enough for Haman.
And that’s how it is with approval addiction. So many people can love us - but once one person does not, our entire sense of self begins to crumble!
We take a hard look at our unhealthy need to be liked, as well as so many other things, today on Rinse and Repeat!

Sometimes it’s hard to stand up for what’s right.
We want to, but we don’t always know how to. Or sometimes we are simply afraid. Or, if we are honest, we don’t want to offend or make the wrong impression.
In today’s episode, I talk about taking a stand to do what is right, and being unashamed of who we are as believers - of the Gospel - because it is the very POWER of God. And yes, we learn this lesson from something that happens in Esther 2!!

When people asked me if there was some sin in my life when I was diagnosed with lupus, I knew they meant well. They wanted me to confess my sin and be made whole.
In today's lagniappe episode, I tackle the subject of generational curses and generational sins. Can we get sick, have addictions, and experience failures because of the sins and failures of our ancestors?
Building on last week's episode, this week's edition is ALSO deeply personal! Join me for a special lagniappe episode of Rinse and Repeat!

You hear a lot about generational curses these days. About us experiencing the stronghold of generational curses of the father's sins visited upon the children...
But did you know that knowing God breaks the bonds of generational curses? That is the testimony of my life, and it is the testimony of the life Naomi and Ruth, as we see in the conclusion of the book of Ruth today. On today's program, I share aspects of my own testimony, as I reflect on God's faithfulness to redeem Ruth and to provide her and Naomi with this beautiful future and hope - this posterity that includes the very lineage of Jesus Himself!
Join me to day for a personal and in-depth look at the conclusion of the book of Ruth.

How many things do we do (or NOT do) simply because we are afraid?
How much does our fear influence our decisions?
Today, we complete our look at Ruth 3, when Boaz, the type of Christ, exhorts Ruth, saying, "Do not be afraid." We come to understand that God's presence with us is why we need not be paralyzed by fear, even when terrifying things lie ahead. We never go alone.

Every single human being wants it, in some form.

Join me today in Ruth 3 as we learn even more about the remarkable parallels between the Kinsman-Redeemer, Boaz, and the Lord Jesus Christ!

It's one of the greatest promises in the Scriptures:
"For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him." 2 Chronicles 16:9a
In today's program, we see how God acts powerfully on behalf of Ruth through Boaz, the Goel, Kinsman-Redeemer. We learn how God sees us, and we can be encouraged to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to us.

Ever wonder how God is going to work a particular situation out? What do you do at times like that?
Today, we see Ruth facing poverty of widowhood by doing what she is supposed to do - she works, and trusts the rest to God. In other words, she is faithful and obedient, and God directs her to the perfect place for her to receive His provision - the fields of her Kinsman Redeemer, the Goel, Boaz.
Turn your Bibles to Ruth 2, as we learn countless lessons on God's faithfulness, provision, and protection through one of the greatest types of Christ in the Old Testament.

Who we spend our time with really matters.
Today, as we turn to the next installment in our study of the book of Ruth, we see how Elimelech’s family changed living in the land of Moab. When they left the “House of Bread,” Bethlehem, they began to live more like the world around them. That happens to us more than we may be willing to admit.
While I challenge our comfortable life choices in today’s message, I also offer GREAT hope. The door is always open to us to turn from more worldly habits, relationships, and pursuits to the living God, as we see Naomi begin to do, even in her embittered state. The call is simple - return. Come home.
This, and so many other rich lessons - today on Rinse and Repeat!

According to author Warren Wiersbe, when troubles come, we really have three options—we can endure them, escape them, or enlist them.
Which approach do you tend to take? Do you simply try to "white-knuckle" through your seasons of difficulty? Do you try to escape them in some way through endless amusements or even denials?
Today, as we open a new book of the Bible, Ruth, we will learn how one family sought to escape their troubles rather than enlist them. We are introduced to Naomi's family and how leaning on our understanding in times of trouble can lead to great trouble.

Have you ever faced something so difficult that you just weren't sure you'd ever get through it? The loss of a loved one, the break of a trust, the dissolving of a relationship... and you just didn't know how you would make it?
Today I revisit an episode I have entitled "A Way through the Fog," based on a fascinating account from the life of George Mueller. More importantly, I explore how we "the just shall live by faith" (Hebrews 10:38), because faith in God is our way through even the densest fog.

"I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."
Today, we will explore Philippians 4:13's remarkable truth in its context and come to understand that in Christ, we can be content in every situation.
What's more, we can learn to trust Him to provide for all of our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19), just as He did for the generous church in Philippi.

Does my life belong to Christ?
How is my relationship with God's Word?
What does it look like to truly be content?
In today's episode, I ask a LOT of questions (deeply personal and hopefully meaningful ones), especially exploring Philippians 4:11b, "for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content."
All of that, and I get to share the biography of a TRULY remarkable missionary - the one and only Evie "Granny" Brand, who said, "Give me one more mountain for Christ!" today, on Rinse and Repeat!
