Jaidyn Johnson is an Occupational Therapist, specializing in helping young children reach milestones. So much of a child's development starts with "tummy time" where a child learns how to move their head, then push up with their hands and arms, which leads to rolling over and eventually sitting up and crawling. Without the fundamental development skills, children can fall behind on "milestones" that could hinder learning and social skills in the future. Beav and Jaidyn also discuss the importance of a father to children, based on multiple studies as well as Jaidyn's personal experience as she grew up not knowing her own dad.

Our friend John Malecki was in town on vacation this week so we had to get him back in the studio for another podcast. If you missed the first episode with John, we get into his NFL career and how he transitioned to woodworking. You can see that here. Today Beav digs more into John's Woodshop, and his youtube channel, trying to understand how they make huge amounts of content (on a weekly basis), and still have time to be a father to his now 17-month-old baby girl. They guys also get into the future of their businesses. What that means for them and how they set goals as they go. What's the end goal? Should you make one? Hear how John compares running a business to being in the NFL. All of this and a ton more on this episode of the Tactical Baby Gear Podcast.

This week on the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast, JD from NUNA Baby is in the studio. If you don't know, NUNA is a premium car seat, stroller, and baby gear company. With nearly a decade of experience at NUNA, JD gives us some great insights on what to consider when looking for a baby stroller system. You should be asking yourself a lot more questions than just "is it cute" or "does my friend like theirs". Everyone's lifestyle and situation is different, and strollers are expensive, so picking the right one is important. The same thing goes for car seats. Beav and JD get into the history of car seats and debunk a few myths and marketing tactics that will give you a much clearer picture of what to look for when picking a car seat for the first time. All of this and a ton more on this episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.

This week on the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast, Beav and Alex sit down for what feels like the first time in a year. Beav has some serious issues he needs to get off his chest. We're sure all parents can agree with what he has to say.
We learn more about Alex’s family history and it all starts to make sense if you know Alex. Being a super nerd is literally in his blood. It’s actually really interesting and we will get more info on this, especially since there is a new book that has been written about it.
Then the guys get into the all-so-popular topic of the Metaverse and NFTs and what that even means. But the real questions arise when they start to think about what this means for their kids, and what the future looks like for them in this soon-to-be digital world.

This week we are talking sneaker culture with Cory Pennington from Penny Kix, a local sneaker shop. Cory is a retired Marine, police officer, and teacher. Since his childhood, he has had an attraction to sneakers. K mart jeans and shirts, no problem, but he had to have some good shoes.
As a Marine, Cory was a TOW Gunner, (anti-tank missile man) but since they weren’t many tanks to shoot at in the middle east, he spent the rest of his career as a machine gunner. After 8 years, Cory left and became a police officer to fill the gap as he transitioned back into civilian life. As a fill-in for the school resource officer, the principal approached him with the opportunity to become a teacher in the criminal justice program. It didn’t take long for Cory to make that switch since he knew being a cop was only temporary.
During his time as a teacher, Cory was buying and selling sneakers on the side for some extra cash. As his house became filled with hundreds of pairs of shoes, he made the jump and opened a retail location, giving birth to ‘Penny Kix’. Now with a second location and retiring from teaching, Cory is all in on his own business. Take a dive into the often misunderstood world of sneakers and sneaker culture on this episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.

use code TBG10 for 10% off your first purchase at https://ammonyc.com (good thru 2021) This week on the podcast is our good friend, Larry Kosilla of AMMO NYC. You may be asking yourself, what is AMMO NYC? If you ever searched YouTube to see how to clean or detail your car, chances are you came across one of Larry’s videos. He was the first to show how-tos and share high-end car detailing knowledge on the, (at the time), a new platform that is YouTube. With over 20 years of experience, Larry is internationally known as THE detailing master. His work ranges from the rarest of the rare supercar collections to forgotten treasures left behind in another century in his “barn find” series. His videos cover every level of cleaning cars, so there is something to be learned for anyone. From how to properly wash your car, to paint correction and clear bra on a 1 of 1 Ferrari hypercar. AMMO NYC is much more than a YouTube channel. Larry got his start in car cleaning by owning a car wash, where he made contacts with the manufactures of the products he used every day in order to improve them. Fast forward a few years, and Larry was in the factory at midnight mixing his own formulas and bottling them under his own name. AMMO NYC gained a lot of traction and as they say, the rest is history. All of this and a ton more on this episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.

Pittsburgh native, John Malecki grew up wanting one thing; to play in the NFL for the Steelers. After a star high school, and college football career, John reached his goal and played for the Steelers on the active roster for about 2 years in 2012.
With his NFL dreams fulfilled, Malecki soon realized he wasn't prepared for the "real word" and life after professional football. He found a passion for wood working while doing some DIY house projects, and ran with that. Since 2016 John has had his own YouTube channel sharing his love for building and learning new skills.
Fast forward to present, a now new Father, he and his wife Sara are raising their daughter and navigating with no play book for parenting. John just hopes that his daughter turns out like her mother, and looks up to big strong dad.

We have some very special guests, Dave Reggina and Mike Parelli from the No Snooze Podcast came down to Hilton Head to join us. If you haven’t heard of the No Snooze podcast, Mike and Dave talk about life, business, motivation, and now as new dads, parenting from their perspective. Beav also did an episode of their podcast, so go check that our HERE.
If you value time, or are looking for ways to have more time (really, who isn’t) This is an episode to listen too. Time management is an incredible asset to posses. It's much easier to talk about than it is to actually execute on. Beav gives some great insight on how his time management has changed and evolved, especially now with a 3rd baby girl. The guys get deep on starting, and running different businesses, looking forward even after job promotions or awards, and how and why they keep moving forward. Much of this is from how they were parented and the experiences they had growing up, even in very different situations, but the end results become the same. Hard work and motivation can’t always be taught, but it can be passed down.

Baby Hannah’s first appearance on the podcast, and she sat through it like a champ! Brandy and Beav discuss the first 5 weeks with a newborn, adapting schedules, figuring out what Hannah likes and especially what she doesn’t like, sound machines, swaddles, night lights, pacifiers, you name it….
Also, they get into how the older sisters are reacting to the new baby, and how that has changed Beav and Brandy’s day to day interactions with all 3. The older girls are definitely Daddy’s Girls. Do you think Hannah will follow the trend? Beav has a pretty solid opinion.
Does a baby with more hair cause mom heart burn? Could be an old wives tale, but hear what Brandy has to say now that Hannah was born with a thick set of locks.
p.s. is "love" a tennis term??

Beav and Brandy had baby #3, Hannah May 27th. Alex is back to talk to Beav about the hospital delivery experience, and what it’s like 7 years later since the last kid. Why they did labor induction, what its like for a Dad in a delivery room, and how you as a dad SHOULD act. Beav has some strong opinions on that last one.
In the first week, challenges have already risen as Beav and Brandy take their newborn to the hospital daily for check ups and bilirubin level checks. This go-around has already been different, especially on the home front with two girls at home. The sibling jealousy is real…
Alex give us an update on his oldest son that just had his cast taken off from breaking his arm. Speaking of arms, there is a really sensitive subject for Alex with clothing and sleeves. You don’t want to miss that!

On the number one rated podcast (according to us) detective Beav is on the case after he finds a piece of paper with certain bad works written on it on the kitchen floor. Alex has his own battles at home with “potty” words as they try to potty train the boys in-between Sweet Home Alabama jam sessions…..yeah.
On a more serious note, a little one has a trip to the ER Saturday night after an accident jumping off the couch. A lot of great points as the guys talk thru the mindset of dealing with an emergency at night with a child.
We end on a high note with some pretty interesting stories from Beav’s camping trip with 9 people and a 7 month pregnant wife. Raccoon invasions, bored kids, and car alarms made for a trip they won’t soon forget.

Alex is back … and he has a parenting failure to confess. Beav gets a concerning message from a teacher and may be drowning his concerns in tacos. Or maybe that’s just his normal amount of taco consumption. Meanwhile, Alex is still dealing with The Great Bathroom Flood of 2021. And because we can’t go a single episode without some sort of poop story, there’s one of those too. And with Brandy’s due date almost here (early June!) Beav is shopping for all the baby gear and reminiscing about when Cameron and Kendall were babies. Also discussed in this episode:
With Siri calling out direction, will kids even know how to read a map when they go up?
Does anybody memorize phone numbers anymore?
Is there a better way to teach our kids that emphasizes real-world application?Catch it on this week’s episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® podcast!

Wind em up and watch em go. Alex and Beav sit down and have A LOT to say. Alex catches us up to date on the situation at his house. (It’s a mess.) But shout out to his childhood chemistry class that definitely saved his life while he was mixing cleaning chemicals to kill some mold. Meanwhile, Beav is planning a family camping trip with his wife Brandy who is 7+ months pregnant.
There’s talk of turd nuggets, peeing in the bathtub, a dog on the loose and a crawling baby. You never know what’s gonna come out when these two sit down, and today is no different. Only one place to hear it all!
Catch it on this week’s episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® podcast!

Alex is having a time of it. Beav is bracing for life as parent to a newborn and a pre-teen. This 💩is getting real. Literally.
Alex digs out his septic tanks and rips up brand new flooring (again) while trying to figure out why he’s allergic to everything, and Beav celebrates the fact his oldest can now cook herself breakfast and wonders if that means she can raise the baby.
