  • Hey everyone! Chris here, and you're tuning into another episode of the Chasing Common Ground podcast. If you're ready to dive deep into the pool of personal wellness, then boy, do I have the episode for you. This time around, I'm flying solo, but trust me, it's jam-packed with insights, stories, and a few laughs along the way.

Today's Vibes: Mind, Body, and Everything in Between

We're going all-in on the mind-body connection today. Ever wondered how just moving your body a little more each day could change the way you think and feel? Well, wonder no more. I'm breaking it down for you, sharing personal anecdotes, and maybe, just maybe, convincing you to join a Jiu Jitsu class by the end of this.

    What's On The Docket:

    * Fitness and Mental Resilience: I'll kick things off by sharing my thoughts on why physical fitness is a game-changer for mental toughness. Plus, why society’s norm of being sedentary needs a major shake-up.

    * Overcoming Physical Challenges: You'll hear a story from my Jiu Jitsu journey (spoiler: it involves a painful rib injury) and how it led to a significant personal breakthrough, proving that resilience is key, both on and off the mat.

    * The Fitness-Discipline Crossover: Ever thought about how sticking to a fitness routine can spill over into your work ethic and personal life? I've got a story about spin classes that might just make you rethink your daily routine.

    * Nutrition’s Role in Emotional and Mental Health: We're getting into the nitty-gritty of how what you eat impacts how you feel. I'll share some straightforward advice on hitting your protein targets and why cooking might just be your new best friend.

    * Debunking Diet Myths: Ready for a rant? I’m tackling some common misconceptions about diet and mood. Spoiler alert: it’s going to get a bit passionate.

    * Gut Health and Mental Health Connection: Last but not least, we’re diving into the gut-brain connection and how simple changes in your diet can lead to better mental and emotional health.

    Why You Should Care:

Whether you're a fitness fanatic, someone trying to make healthier choices, or just looking for ways to boost your mental resilience, there's something in this episode for you. Plus, who doesn't love a good story about overcoming adversity?

  • Welcome back to the Chasing Common Ground Podcast! It's Chris Liddle here, embarking on what seems to be a solo adventure for a while as I gear up for some fantastic guest appearances in the near future. Today's episode is a personal journey through the critical connections between physical fitness, nutrition, and mental strength. I've compiled insights, stories from my own life, and actionable advice that I hope will inspire and empower you to embrace a healthier, more resilient lifestyle. Let's dive into what we've got in store for you:

    1. The Impact of Physical Fitness on Mental Resilience: I kick things off by exploring the often-underestimated power of physical activity—something as simple as a daily walk can have a monumental impact on your mental resilience. I share my thoughts on how a physical regimen can be a game-changer in your life, career, and personal challenges.

    2. My Journey Through Physical Challenges: I'll take you through a personal narrative from my Jiu-Jitsu experiences, shedding light on how overcoming physical obstacles has led to significant breakthroughs, not just physically, but in all aspects of my life. It's a raw look at the lessons learned in grappling with pain and difficulty.

    3. How Fitness Discipline Translates to Life Success: This part of the episode delves into the remarkable way discipline garnered from fitness can directly influence success in other life areas. I recount a realization that came to me during relentless spin classes—consistency is key to progression, in the gym and beyond.

    4. The Role of Nutrition in Mental and Emotional Health: Here, I discuss the foundational role of nutrition in shaping our emotional and mental state. From protein intake to the importance of hydration and the benefits of cooking at home, I cover how mindful eating practices contribute to overall well-being.

    5. Debunking Common Diet Myths: I address some prevalent misconceptions about diet and mood, emphasizing the necessity of making informed, health-aligned choices over succumbing to the latest diet fads.

    6. Connecting Gut Health with Mental Well-being: I highlight the often-overlooked connection between gut health and mental health, offering practical tips for improving both through intentional eating and home-cooked meals.

    7. A Glimpse into Future Episodes: As we conclude today's episode, I share a preview of what's coming up on the podcast. Expect a diverse lineup of guests, insightful discussions, and my commitment to bringing you varied, engaging content.

  • In the spirit of getting back on track with regular episodes, I recorded a solo episode for you today. First of all, I want to thank you for being here. I also want to thank everyone who has helped me along the way. Some of you are mentioned in the podcast, but I already can think of many people that I would have mentioned if you have me 5 more hours. I spared you though. You allow me to barge into your inbox and your ear holes like I own the place and I really appreciate that. It gets easy to forget about the things we have to be grateful for, and about the helpers we have in life. I’m sure if you’re anything like me, you forget from time to time. Today’s episode is about remembering, and then taking care of those connections as best as you can.

I’ll keep the shownotes short, but while you’re here → some current events in the world of Chris Liddle. If you’re looking for an in-person trainer and you are able to get to Evolve Strength South in Edmonton, I’d love to work with you. If you are a bit further away, or want to try something that allows you to train wherever and whenever, connect with me about remote training. It’s straightforward, my dad figured it out and he’s more of a tree and cow guy than a computer and phone guy so you can totally do it too. I’ve had the pleasure of working with people across the United States and in Western Canada. I’ve worked with people as young as 13 to as old as 70. It’s amazing what can happen for a person when they have someone in their corner. I’ve seen a lot of cool things in this career so far and would love to help you be a part of that.If you’d like to work with me, you can fill out this form here - from there, we’ll do a zoom call to see what’s next for you.

Lastly - thank you for being a part of The Lifestyle Chase Podcast. I’ll be doing more solo episodes like this in the future. Stay tuned.
