David and Dr. B talks about the lack of confidence among dentists, which is exacerbated by our tendency to only talk about the good things happening in our practices. We discuss the self-reflection that goes into building your own practice and learning how to manage a team, and how it’s made us better people. Dr. B also shares some of his experiences with missionary work, a unique but meaningful challenge he feels compelled to undertake.

This is an episode where Dr. B Interviews the hosts of a Tale of Two Hygienists. This interview, however is not about podcasting as much as being about dental hygiene and the importance of the profession. Many countries around the world have no such profession and we believe that they are missing out. In this episode we pull apart the profession and outline why it is such an important part of dentistry above and beyond just “Cleaning calculus off of teeth.”

Dr. Lance Timmerman is a true pioneer in the field of esthetic dentistry. He is also the host of Totally Oral Podcast also based on dentistry. He is funny, engaging and totally a super dentist. Dr. B ad Dr. Timmerman decided to do this interview after the two Podcast names were mentioned on a Facebook group as “Totally Oral Passionate Dentist.” Which created a very funny and a bit sick thread of variations to the name as people would mix and match the four words that are in the two podcast names. The innuendos were just too much to ignore and both doctors decided to have an interview. Though they are both still not sure who interviewed who… enjoy.

Dr. B was interviewed on the Healthy Mouth, Healthy life Podcast by Ms. Carrie Ibbetson who is an oral health coach and patient advocate. Carrie is a hygienist who has been in dentistry for over 20 years and has a podcast for the general public about oral health care. She also helps people with oral conditions that are complicated from the point of view of the public. In short, she helps people make choices with their oral health decisions. She uses patient language to explain the conditions in patients’ mouths and in even simpler terms becomes a non-biased bridge between dentists and patients.
Carrie wanted to talk with Dr. B regarding the language of occlusal splints (better known as Occlusal guards or bite Guards). Dr. B makes quite a few occlusal Splints and charges over $1000 for each. But can only do so because of the specific language he uses with patients.

A tale of two hygienists is a wonderful weekly Dental Hygiene and “Wine” based podcast that interviewed Dr. B for their episode #61 and continued to this episode #62. The recording session was so much fun and so long that the hosts Andrew Johnston and Michelle Strange decided to make two episodes out of it. This is part two. Please note that there may be a few words of cursing.

This is the first of a series of interviews focusing on the numbers in the dental practice. Rick is a consultant’s consultant. Meaning, he helps dental consultants help their dentists with their numbers. He has the formulas and the calculations to figure out the health of dental practices. He does not normally work directly with dentists and so hearing his story is interesting from our perspective. This episode serves as the intro to the series of interview coming over the next few months concentrating on numbers in the dental practice. We discuss general numbers and concepts but will be diving much deeper into them in future episodes.
