About our guest:
Jody Plauché, from Baton Rouge, La., made national headlines in March 1984 when he was abducted by his karate teacher and taken 2,000 miles away from home to Los Angeles, CA. About our guest:
Denise Huskins
In March 2015, Denise and her boyfriend at the time, now husband Aaron Quinn, were victims in a home invasion. The intruders bound them up with zip ties, blinded them with blackout goggles, and forced them into a closet. Denise was then kidnapped. Aaron was able to break free later to call the police. Aaron told the police that Denise was being held ransom for two payments of $8,500. The Vallejo police never took him seriously. The police had his phone turned off where they could have had Denise’s location traced to be saved. Denise was then dropped off two days later by her family in Huntington Beach at her parents' house. The police and media did not believe them naming Denise the real-life gone girl.

Make 2024 your year of language mastery with Babbel! Visit https://babbel.com/collier and receive 55% off your Babbel subscription. Be a better you, one language at a time! *Rules and restrictions may apply.
About our guest:
As an award-winning stuntwoman, Kimberly Shannon Murphy was intimate with pain. For years, she propelled her body through dangerous spaces—medicating the trauma of her childhood sexual abuse with the adrenaline rush that came from pushing herself to the absolute limit. But as Kimberly learned, no matter how much you suppress your past, it always catches up with you.
In Glimmer, Kimberly details her remarkable journey to the top of her field as a Hollywood stuntwoman for many A-list celebrities, including Cameron Diaz, Charlize Theron, Angelina Jolie, Taylor Swift, and Sandra Bullock, while carrying the pain of her childhood of sexual abuse in a family that refused to acknowledge its reality. In her beautifully written, unflinchingly honest memoir, Kimberly reflects on her past and present, chronicling her path to recovery and calculating the long shadow of trauma.

After years of suffering, Matt sought psychological treatment. He bravely made a report to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. He then filed a Police Report with the NSW Police about the repeated abuse he suffered as a child.
After three years of Police investigations and legal preparation by the Public Prosecutor, the abuser pleaded guilty to all charges relating to the abuse of Matt and three other scouts from the same scout group. That former scout leader is now serving a lengthy period of imprisonment.
Matt then acted in the Supreme Court of New South Wales, seeking to hold Scouts NSW to account for their failure to protect children like him from sexual abuse while under the care of their organization.

Aziza Murphy is being stalked by her ex-boyfriend, who is threatening her life. After she broke up with him, he called her over one thousand times within 24 hours, harassed her ex-husband's family, and tried to break into her house. Armed with recorded evidence, Aziza contacted the Baltimore Police Department, pleading for them to make an arrest, but they told her since he hadn't necessarily been violent with her, they couldn't take any action. Aziza was forced to relocate and lost her job after her stalker showed up at her workplace and threatened her coworkers. She turned to social media and shared her horrific story to expose her stalker and shine a light on how the system can fail to protect women, especially women of color, from a stalker.

This is Part 2 of our two-part interview with Uldouz Wallace.Uldouz Wallace is a survivor of the 2014 iCloud Hack/Leak; her private images and a video were hacked by a predator who later auctioned & leaked them to the internet, which later was shared on all the adult sites without her consent and ultimately taking away her fundamental human rights. This horrifying set of events destroyed her bright future of success. Through experience, Uldouz realized the imbalance between technology and the current laws and how they need to be updated to protect the future of children, women & men. That’s when she decided to change the law; she contacted several senators and nonprofit organizations and created The Protect Act Bill, which Senator Mike Lee introduced. She testified at Capitol Hill and is currently an Advisor for the White House Task Force regarding Image-Based Sexual Abuse. She also started her nonprofit 501(c)3 Foundation Ra and the movement #protectmyimage to help victims of image & video-based abuse with resources like free takedown services, therapy, law enforcement, lawyers, and to know your rights, and more. This is part two of our two-part interview with Crystal Hefner.
At just twenty-one years old, Crystal Harris’ life changed forever when she attended a party at the notorious Playboy mansion. Picked out of the crowd by Hugh Hefner, she became one of his infamous “girlfriends,” attending glamorous Hollywood parties and traveling the world. Yet this seemingly alluring lifestyle had a dark side. Hef controlled his girlfriends with strict rules regarding everything from their hair and makeup to their curfews, and Crystal was forced to compete with other women for her spot in the highly hierarchical system. Living at the mansion, she felt more like a fixture than a resident.
She quickly rose to the top, but being Hef’s number-one girlfriend came at the cost of Crystal’s identity outside her role in the Playboy universe. Her fate seemed sealed when Hef surprised her with a marriage proposal she could not imagine refusing. But as Crystal Hefner, she grew increasingly restless to understand who she truly was away from what she saw as Playboy’s toxic culture.
In her new book ONLY SAY GOOD THINGS, Crystal offers a vulnerable and clear-eyed look at how her experience with Hugh Hefner catalyzed her transformative journey from someone who prized external validation over all else to a person who finally recognizes her true worth. This candid memoir provides a fascinating look behind the scenes at a powerful cultural icon and brand and an equally empowering perspective on hard-won lessons about who we allow to determine our value.

This is Part Two of our two-part interview with Anna Nasset.
Anna Nasset, a victim/survivor of stalking for the last decade, has firsthand experience with how to identify and respond to stalking, which has led her to become an international speaker on the subject. She has trained thousands of professionals, students, and military members on the importance of recognizing stalking, getting help, and advocating for oneself and others. Anna is one of the very few people who can speak openly about her experience after the man who stalked her received the maximum sentence for aggravated felony stalking-ten years in prison-in 2019. This is one of the longest-known sentences for this crime in U.S. history. As an activist and the owner of Stand Up Resources, Anna works with law enforcement, victim service agencies, universities, and other organizations to be part of the solution.
We encourage you to post photos of you and/or your team sparkling against stalking! Use the hashtag #SparkleAgainstStalking on your social media posts, and we will have links to more on this important day in the show notes of today’s episode.
