Host Rev. Cory Bradford-Watts interviews artist, poet, and Swedenborgian Eleanor Schnarr about eighteenth-century scientist and mystic Emanuel Swedenborg’s early explorations of the human brain and breath control and how his findings influenced his later works on spiritual anatomy. As a student of Swedenborgian Studies at the Graduate Theological Union, Eleanor has written several fascinating papers about Swedenborg’s practice of internal breathing and how it compares to other ancient meditative forms such as tantra and yoga. Eleanor draws on her extensive research to explain how Swedenborg used meditative breathing to access the spiritual world and how we can also experience divine consciousness. This is an audio version of a video interview. Watch the video on YouTube: https://youtu.be/RVvRMFoj7Lg

Rev. Cory Bradford-Watts is an ordained minister with the Swedenborgian Church of North America and a member of the Swedenborg Foundation board of directors. His current ministry includes leading and officiating the Swedenborgian Online Community—an affirming interfaith group that meets weekly to grow in love and wisdom online. Cory was exposed to many different religious traditions growing up, but he had little personal belief in divinity. Then, after experiencing a mystical near-death experience as a young adult, he started to sense the spiritual qualities of life and developed a belief in the Creator. He eventually found himself drawn to the pluralistic, Christian nature of Swedenborgianism, and he answered the call to uplift others wherever they’re at, no matter their creed or culture.

Host Rev. Cory Bradford-Watts interviews offTheLeftEye Director Curtis Childs about how he started a successful YouTube channel based on the spiritual work of a little known eighteenth-century Christian mystic named Emanuel Swedenborg. Learn how Curtis' own struggles with anxiety and depression opened his heart and mind to Swedenborg's writings and the peace of heaven, and how it inspired his desire to help others manage their suffering too. One of the overarching messages that came up over and over during Cory and Curtis' conversation is how embracing Divine providence (a Swedenborgian concept) can lead to a deeply authentic spiritual experience and journey in work and in life. First episode coming Thursday, December 13th, 2018! Transcendiots is a bi-weekly spirituality-based webcast hosted on the Swedenborg Foundation's YouTube channel. Co-hosts Cory Bradford-Watts and Colin Amato were inspired to start the project while in ministry training at the Center for Swedenborgian Studies of the Graduate Theological Union. Motivated by the depth of religious backgrounds of others they crossed paths with at the school, they decided to turn on their cameras and start talking--talking to people with all different kinds of spiritual and life experiences. Now, a year later, they're launching their first series of videos in partnership with the Swedenborg Foundation so others can witness the interesting things that happen when ideas of heart and mind are exchanged between diverse people in the midst of their personal evolutions.

Watch as host Rev. Cory Bradford-Watts and Mennonite Pastor Dave Rogalsky discuss the role of interfaith ministry and contemplative spirituality in transcending the theological divisions between denominations. Hear the interesting story of how a Mennonite pastor came to lead a Swedenborgian congregation, and what he learned from that experience. We hope that as you witness Cory and Dave share their personal experiences, you'll be inspired to explore the role of diversity and inclusivity in whatever faith(s) you follow.

Cory was exposed to many different religious traditions growing up, but had little personal belief in Divinity. Then, after experiencing a mystical near-death experience as a young adult, he started to sense the spiritual qualities of life and developed a belief in the Creator. He eventually found himself drawn to the pluralistic, Christian nature of Swedenborgianism, and answered the call to uplift others wherever they're at, no matter their creed or culture.
