  • The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist is one of the most baffling art thefts in history! In the early hours of March 18, 1990, two men dressed as cops waltzed into Boston's famous museum, tied up the guards, and made off with 13 pieces of priceless art. Decades later, the frames still hang empty, waiting for the masterpieces to return. The case has never been solved and the missing works—worth over half a billion dollars—are still out there somewhere.

  • This week, Kristin and Mogab are joined by special guest and friend of the podcast, Destiny, to tell them a truly atrocious story. Throughout the 70s and 80s, young women in Alaska were vanishing without a trace. These women had fallen prey to a sinister figure who took advantage of the wild Alaskan landscape, but their stories were largely ignored until one courageous woman managed to survive and broke the silence. But would she ever be able to find anyone to believe her story?

  • In April of 1922, neighbors of the Gruber-Gabriel family stumbled upon a grizzly scene on a remote farmstead near Gröbern, Bavaria called Hinterkaifeck. They found all 6 residents - Andreas and Cäzilia Gruber, their daughter Viktoria, her children Cäzilia and Josef, and their maid Maria Baumgartner - bludgeoned to death with a farm tool. When police began their investigation they realized something incredibly eerie - the killer had remained on the property for several days after the murder, feeding the farm animals and using the kitchen, before vanishing without a trace. The investigation would lead to wild speculation about family secrets and local suspects, but the case remains unsolved, cementing it as one of Germany’s most chilling true crime mysteries.

  • On August 5, 1996, 43-year-old Jennifer Myers was working alone at the Tailfeather Art Gallery in West Manchester Township, PA. Just before 11 AM, a man walked in, pulled a gun, and demanded money. The robber was interrupted by an unexpected delivery and fled, but he was quickly identified as a man named Kevin Dowling and arrested. But as the trial approached, Jennifer was found brutally murdered in the very gallery she worked. Police were convinced Kevin was the killer, but he had an alibi so airtight it seemed impossible—timestamped footage showed him fishing miles away on the day of the murder. So, who really killed Jennifer Myers? Or did Kevin Dowling somehow pull off the perfect crime?

The monopoly game at McDonald’s ran once a year from the late 80s to the early 2000s. yYou’d get different game pieces that you’d peel off your drink cup or your fries container in exchange for prizes ranging from a free small fry or coke to boats, cars, even a million dollars!
But what people didn’t know was that if you were playing after 1989, you had no chance of legitimately winning the big ticket items.

  • Daniel Morcombe was 13 years old when he vanished from a bus stop in Queensland, Australia, never to be seen again. The ramifications of this crime would be felt around Australia for decades to come. A large-scale investigation was launched almost immediately and quickly led police to several prime suspects, but after years went by with no arrests, it was looking like they may never get the evidence they’d need to solve the case.

  • In 2002, 26 year old single mother, Lydia Fairchild, found herself facing hard times. She decided to apply for government assistance, which required a DNA test to prove that she and the babies’ father, Jamie Townsend, were the parents of the children. It was just a standard procedure. But the results of the test were absolutely shocking: Jamie was confirmed as the father, but the tests showed that Lydia was not the mother of her own children. But how could that be?

  • On December 3, 1998, 39-year-old Mark Jensen called 911 to report that something was terribly wrong with his wife, 40-year-old Julie Jensen. He had arrived home to find her lying in bed, looking as if she were simply resting. She looked perfectly fine, healthy even. But she wasn't breathing.
First responders arrived within minutes, but their efforts were in vain—Julie was already gone, and it was clear she had been dead for some time. But how? There were no visible signs of injury or trauma, no evidence of drug use or anything that could explain her sudden death.
The questions began to pile up: How could someone who seemed so healthy die so suddenly? What had really happened behind the closed doors of the Jensen home that day? The answers would be more shocking than anyone could have imagined.

  • In part 1, we explored the known details surrounding Maura's disappearance. Now, "from this point forth, we shall be leaving the firm foundation of fact and journeying together through the murky marshes of theories into thickets of wildest guesswork." We will dive into the five leading theories: Was Maura's disappearance orchestrated? An accident? Suicide? A result of police corruption? Or was foul play involved? Kristin and Mogab will examine each theory and share their perspectives on what they believe truly happened.

After ending a 12 year relationship, Dave Kroupa decided to get back out there, and he signed up for online dating. After several months of dating a few different women, he met Cari Farver. She seemed perfect: incredibly smart, fun, and looking for a casual relationship, like him. But then, after dating for two weeks, Cari texted Dave asking if they should move in together. He was confused - he'd thought they were on the same page, so he told her no. And then he received a message back from Cari filled with vulgar, abusive insults and threats. And the messages didn't stop coming. He received hundreds a day for YEARS. Dave wanted the messages to stop, but Cari Farver could not be found.

  • This week, we're talking about the kidnapping of Denise Huskins. In the middle of the night on March 22, 2015, a group of broke into the home of Aaron Quinn and kidnapped his girlfriend, Denise Huskins. Aaron's story involved kidnappers wearing wet suits who played pre-recorded messages and wanted very little ransom for Denise's return. His story seemed so unbelievable to police, who were convinced early on that Aaron had done something to Denise. When that seemed unlikely, they formed a new theory: that Denise had never been kidnapped, and she was actually the real life Gone Girl.''
