Designing thematic syllabi and incorporating diverse teaching methods can make the learning experience more interesting and impactful. Fostering listening skills is crucial in education and can contribute to building stronger relationships and communities.

    🤖 Katbot's questions for further conversation 🤖

Sharon emphasizes that we don’t fully understand students’ perspectives unless we ask the right questions—how can we better design our professional development sessions to ensure we’re truly understanding the needs and challenges of teachers, rather than assuming we already know?

My other question for you is Sharon mentions the unfiltered rawness of TikTok compared to Instagram—how can we create spaces in our school culture that encourage raw, unpolished feedback, and what risks would we need to manage in doing so?

    🤖 Katbot's questions for further conversation 🤖

What would it look like for your organization to embrace interdependence, where each person’s success is tied to the collective?
Think about how you can create a culture that values mutual reliance and shared responsibility, rather than focusing only on individual inclusion.

What structures or hidden norms in your environment may be silently limiting growth and equity, and how can you begin to challenge them?
Reflect on the systems that shape behavior in your workplace or community, and ask yourself: What needs to be made visible to foster true change?

How might you approach difficult conversations or change efforts with a spirit of joy and possibility, even when the work feels heavy?
Consider how bringing lightness, even in serious moments, can help your team carry the load together and move forward with purpose.

  • Welcome to the first episode of season five!

In this episode we talk with Dr. Ulcca Joshi Hansen, education futurist and author of The Future of Smart, about what it will take to radically transform education. Dr. Ulcca Joshi Hansen offers fresh insights into how we can imagine new possible changes to truly rethink education and intelligence.

🧶Key Takeaways: Transformation vs. Reform: Why real change requires dismantling outdated systems rather than making minor adjustments. Holistic Thinking: Shifting from rigid, linear models to a more flexible, interconnected approach that better reflects the complexities of learning. The 3 Rs: Relationship, Relevance, and Reintegration: our guest's framework highlights the importance of human connections, making learning relevant, and weaving knowledge into a more holistic system. AI and Education: As AI advances, how do we preserve core human skills like creativity and empathy while integrating new technologies? Bridging Divides: Schools as spaces for healing polarization by fostering collaboration, critical thinking, and dialogue.

    🤖 Katbot's questions for further conversation 🤖

What strategies will drive genuine transformation, not just reform?

How can we break free from incremental changes and manage the shift toward new, more effective educational systems?
How do we lead a shift toward more human-centered learning?

What steps can leaders take to create a school culture that prioritizes relationships, relevance, and holistic student development?
How can we manage the integration of technology while preserving key human skills?

How can we balance innovation with ensuring that core human capacities like empathy and critical thinking remain central to education?

  • A classic issue for educators is that we just don't have as much time as we'd like. But what if a digital twin could serve as a short intervention mentor? What if you could call a mentor anytime from anywhere for a quick dose of insight?

That's what we test out in this episode.

First we dig into how Katbot would mitigate conflict in a school regarding mobile phone bans. Then we explore what advice Katbot has for a head of school navigating an enrollment on the decline.

We also think about what the research tells us about short interventions:

  • If you've been following the Katbot Chronicles we hope you are wondering what use cases exist for school leaders when it comes to digital twins.

While Kathleen and Tricia have many many more ideas, they wanted to share a few of their use cases, and model one of them with Katbot.

    The full list:

Accessible Virtual Office Hours: The digital twin Katbot can facilitate virtual office hours, positioning the head of school as approachable and available whenever, wherever. How might this change the way others build a relationship with the real head of school? How might this help parents, caregivers, students and faculty rehearse conversations they want to have with the real head of school?

Supportive Caregiver Guidance: The digital twin Katbot can provide an overview of caregiver-facing resources, offering practical advice on how to engage with their child's holistic development. By addressing how to navigate the curriculum, understand school policies, and participate actively in their child’s educational journey, the twin Katbot can be available to parents and caregivers away from campus, or in the process of deciding on whether or not the school is a good fit for their family. How might this make policy more readily understood?

Dress Rehearsal Professional Development: The digital twin Katbot could review plans for a PD session, highlighting or building out questions about how the learning directly connects with a strategic plan. Katbot could provide feedback on the plans before the session is delivered, ensuring the session understands the context of the school. How might this help facilitators make necessary changes to ensure PD is relevant?

Compassionate Crisis Management: During times of crisis, the digital twin Katbot can provide timely, empathetic updates and guidance, ensuring that all members of the school community are informed and supported. How might this free up time for the leadership team in ensuring questions can be answered more efficiently?

Deploy strategy thought partner: The digital twin Katbot could role play a scenario the head of school is concerned about, highlighting possible strategies, timelines, and alternative ideas. How might this help a leader think through case studies in an interactive way?
