In this episode Dr. Ashley speaks to Dr. Ritchie again about the out-pour of responses they received from teenagers who listened to the podcast episode. Dr. Ritchie gives more great advice on what teens could/should do if they have a peer who is contemplating suicide.
Dr. Ashley also speaks with one special coach who assigned the teen suicide episode 1 listening as homework to the youth athletes; how he came about this idea and how you as a coach can make a bigger impact on your team as well.

Trigger Warning: We discuss suicide, suicidal ideation, and the grieving process. This is very pertinent information however it may spur up some uncomfortable feelings while you listen.
In this episode, Dr. Ashley Shrum, Physical Therapist, speaks with Dr. Jennifer Ritchie, Psychologist, about teen suicide. Dr. Ritchie educates us all on a few startling statistics about teen suicide rates, risk factors for suicide, warning signs some one may be thinking of committing suicide, resources to find help before someone does harm themselves, and how to talk to your team after an athlete has decided to end their life.
This episode should be listened to at normal speed and when you have time to dedicate your attention by being an active listener.

In this podcast episode Dr. Ashley Shrum is joined by Dr. Amie Schuetz (both physical therapists) to discuss ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injuries. They discuss what the ACL is, where its located, and what type of situations most result in the injury; how you can support your athlete or teammate that is undergoing ACL repair; what to avoid saying because its not helpful; and what to do when this athlete returns to the gym for the first few weeks.
There is a video bonus feature to this episode which includes a demonstration and instruction on several drills you can do in the gym to reintroduce your athlete to training and really gauge where they are mentally and physically for return to sport.
