The reason I’m creating this series is because I’m tired of all the bad business advice I keep seeing on these social media streets that people are all too quick to buy into. My intention is to offer you a different perspective to help you decide if certain advice is right for you.

  • Recently, I was having a conversation with another woman lawyer about marketing options for small law firms, and she shared with me that she did not like seeing herself on video, so it was hard to imagine she would create reels on Instagram or videos for TikTok.

I totally understood! I do not love either seeing myself on video or hearing my recorded voice. And I know we are not alone. It comes up frequently in conversations with other women law firm owners of a certain age!

In this culture where women appear to be valued for youth and beauty, it takes confidence and strong self-esteem to put yourself out there if you think you have passed some kind of imaginary expiration date.

Comparison-it is on social media is not reserved just for people in their teens and 20s. Even those of us with lots of emotional management tools in our toolboxes can get caught up in comparing ourselves and our lives with what we see in our social feeds.

I can tell you all day, every day, that other people are not judging you nearly as hard as you judge yourself, but if you hate being on video, you likely will not really care.

So, I wanted to reassure you that there are other options for marketing your law firm besides becoming an Instagram or TikTok influencer. You don’t have to dance for your supper if the mere thought makes you feel a little sick.

Listen in to hear about five marketing tactics you can start using today to grow your law firm business.

I also share with you some of the missteps I made and what I would do differently if I were starting over today. I hope they help you avoid these same mistakes.

  • You’d think by now after being an attorney and business owner for almost two decades, I would know what I’m about to share with you today. But the one thing I know about life as an entrepreneur and business owner is that there are ALWAYS lessons to be learned. As Abraham Hicks says: “You will never get it done, and you can never get it wrong.”

Why? Because, as human beings, we are always receiving new information and transforming how we think and behave based on that information—yes, even those of us we wouldn’t think ever change are always changing.

Listen in as I share the ah-ha moment I had this week. It surprised me and it may surprise you. If you are a high-achieving woman like me, it may be this is exactly what you need to hear.

  • Today’s topic was inspired by a recent conversation I had with a fellow high-achieving woman who is super-productive in her business and loves to check off boxes on her to-do list. In fact, she loves it so much that sometimes, she will write something down on her to-do list after she’s done it, just so she has the pleasure of checking it off!

Boy, I can relate. Can you?

There are documented psychological reasons we, as humans, love to make lists. BUT, did you know your list may be doing you more harm than good as you attempt to scale your law firm business? Listen in to discover more about how you can keep the lists you love, but make them much more powerful tools.

  • Today’s episode of the Wealthy Woman Lawyer® Podcast will be brief because this afternoon, I’ll be presenting my most popular training: “3 Critical Strategies My Women Law Firm Owner Clients Deploy to Build $1M+ Law Firms Without Overwork and Overwhelm.” I want you to hop over to that because I think it’s a powerful training that will give you more than a few lightbulb moments.

So, let’s get into today’s topic: This One Shift Can Get You to $1M.

I know right now you are probably thinking: “Davina, you are crazy. There’s no one thing I can do to scale my law firm to a million dollars! There are a million things I have to do to reach that goal.”

I hear you. If you are like most of my women law firm owner clients when they first start working with me—or like me way back in the day when I started my first law firm business—you have a very long to-do list that seems to grow faster than you can check things off on it.

    Listen in as I share:

What you are probably doing now that you think you need to do more of and what you should be doing instead. The reason I love a good list, how it can hurt your business, and how, if you are a list lover like me, you can use list-making more effectively.Three questions you should ask yourself about your list of “to-do’s” if you want to make more money while working fewer hoursThe one shift you can begin making today to get you to $1M fasterThe right way and the wrong way to make that shiftOne of the biggest mistakes women law firm owners are making as managers is that they don’t realize they are making (and what to do to correct this).Three questions to ask yourself to improve your workflow systems (and remove yourself as the clog in your pipeline). How to get my exact, step-by-step law firm growth blueprint—one that’s helped hundreds of women law firm owners scale their law firm businesses. And much more! I’m also going to share with you WHY I think they made me a better business owner because that’s important as well. Just adopting someone else’s methods or ideas on a subject without understanding why they are doing it that way will not help you. Understanding the 'why' behind business practices empowers you to make informed decisions and take control of your business.

    Listen in as I share…

Why it’s important to understand why someone does what they do (what they get out of it).Why I see opportunities all around me every day (yes, even in my inbox) and how that serves meWhy I’m grateful I went to law school and became an attorney and how it serves me as a business owner (but also, the downside)The one skill that is required to make anything happen and the advantage people who possess it have over those who do not.The skill that helps me to minimize fear and anxiety when things do not go the way I envision they will (this one has helped me to survive the inevitable ups and downs in my business)The most important skill to have if you want to make a career as an entrepreneur and business owner (and it’s also been the hardest one for me to master)How to get started if you want to hone your leadership skills and be a better law firm ownerAnd much more!

  • In today’s episode of the Wealthy Woman Lawyer® podcast, I had the pleasure of interviewing Doug Bradley, President and Founder of Everest Legal Marketing.

Doug's journey to success is a testament to his resilience and hard work. Despite juggling two jobs, marriage, and homeownership, he managed to achieve a double major in Business Administration and Broadcasting at the University of La Verne. This dedication and perseverance inspire confidence in his abilities and his commitment to his work.

Afterward, he entered the advertising world, working at Dex Media and witnessing firsthand the decline of yellow page advertising during the Great Recession. He then transitioned to Lawyers.com, where he excelled in a new industry, mastering all things SEO.

When Martindale-Hubbell sold Lawyers.com, Doug decided to secure his financial independence, founding Everest Legal Marketing, LLC, a company that provides SEO, website design, and content marketing services to attorneys and law firms across the U.S.
