Many of us have been taught that marriage is sacred and divorce is something to be avoided at all costs. But when the desire to honor God and follow biblical teachings clashes with the reality of unfaithfulness, it creates a painful conflict.
The truth is, choosing healing and peace over staying in a toxic marriage is not a failure; it's an act of courage. Sometimes God calls us to move forward, even when the world tells us to stay.
In this episode with Reverend James, she shares her journey through a challenging marriage and divorce. She talks about the emotional and spiritual struggles she faced, the impact of infidelity, and how her faith helped her find the strength to leave. Tune in to hear her story of overcoming betrayal, finding healing, and rediscovering her purpose through faith.

The Superwoman Complex is a popular but dangerous identity, one that many of us know too well—where you take on everything. It’s not glamorous to wear the superwoman cape, but we often believe that it makes us strong, resilient, and unstoppable. We’re celebrated for doing it all, for being the backbone of our families and communities. But the truth? That same resilience can break you down if you don’t stop and listen to what your body and mind are trying to say.
In this episode with Dr. C. Nicole Swiner, we’re breaking down the “Superwoman Complex” and how it affects our health and happiness. From the pressure to do it all to carrying emotional baggage, we talk about what it really takes to let go and prioritize self-care. Together, we explore the importance of setting boundaries, finding balance, and creating a healthier, more joyful way of living.

In life, it's easy to become attached to things, relationships, or outcomes that we hold dear. While desiring success, love, or stability isn't wrong, it's important to remember these are gifts from God, not sources of fulfillment. When placed above Him, they can become idols, distracting us from the peace and purpose only God provides.
In this episode of Your nEXt Chapter, I explore the concept of idolatry and how things like marriage can sometimes take priority over our relationship with God. I share how my own marriage became an idol and discuss how idols can show up in different forms, from relationships to achievements. Tune in to learn how shifting our focus back to God can restore balance and realign our priorities.

Your time is coming!
It’s easy to get caught up in the heaviness of life’s transitions, but I’ve learned that sometimes we must create space to celebrate what lies ahead. This journey hasn’t been easy. But there’s power in embracing every season of your life.
In this episode with my friends and Sorors, Dr. Maiysha and Dr. Terri, we celebrate the beauty of new beginnings. We talk about the significance of my "Freedom Party"—a celebration not of divorce, but of stepping boldly into a new season of life. We discuss the importance of intentionality, faith, and welcoming new beginnings, while honoring our community.

Love is often presented as the answer to all challenges, but I've come to understand that it isn't always enough to sustain a relationship when the foundations aren't built on mutual respect, understanding, and healthy boundaries. It’s easy to give love, but true love—healthy, reciprocal love—requires more than just good intentions.
In this solo episode, I share my journey from early crushes to a 28-year marriage and the lessons I’ve learned about love, commitment, and what it truly means to give and receive love. I reflect on the complexities of love and relationships, particularly those that span decades and experience both beauty and pain. Take a moment to listen, reflect, and perhaps even question what you believe about love. Let’s unpack this together.
Song of the week: What's Love Got to Do With It by Tina Turner
Key Takeaways:
"I thought I could love my ex into doing the right thing and becoming a better person but you can't love someone's brokenness away."
"You can't allow your love for the other person to overshadow your love for yourself."
"Love is one thing to write on cards, another to say, but a whole different thing to show."

Forgiveness is often misunderstood as a way of excusing or condoning the wrongs done to us, but in reality, it is about reclaiming our own peace. In this episode with the Forgiveness Coach, Brenda Reiss, we explore the power of forgiveness in one’s healing journey and how holding onto anger, resentment, or past hurts can weigh us down and consume us.
Song of the week: Pick Up Your Feelings by Jazmine Sullivan
Key Takeaways:
“Self-forgiveness frees us from self-imposed guilt, shame, and regret.”
“When we choose to let go of blame, there is peace, healing, and the freedom to live a more fulfilled life.”

Life is filled with challenges, and sometimes we can't face them alone. We all need someone to lean on, especially when things get tough. Friendship is about showing up for each other in the most vulnerable moments, offering support, and being a steady presence when everything else feels uncertain.
In this episode with my good friend and Soror, Dr. Suleika Michel, we will explore the importance of friendship and the deep connections that help us through challenging times. Together, we'll reflect on our decades-long friendship, share how Suleika supported me during my divorce journey, and explore what it truly means to be a good friend.

We all go through life's messiness, and some of us try our very best to make things work, giving all our effort until it consumes us. But it doesn’t have to be that way! Surrender holds a power beyond our own efforts. When we choose to surrender, we allow ourselves to step back, not from our responsibilities, but from the pressure to force outcomes that may not be aligned with our true path.
In this episode with Coach Melissa Brown, we'll unpack the intricacies of surrender and what it truly means to release our grip on the outcomes we envision. Melissa sheds light on the journey of letting go and aligning our goals with a higher purpose.

The idea of "worth" is something that touches all of our lives, but what does it really mean? At its simplest, worth refers to how valuable we believe ourselves to be. However, many of us carry beliefs shaped by our upbringing and experiences that can distort this sense of value. When we challenge these beliefs that fuel our scarcity mindset, we open ourselves to the idea that we deserve abundance in all areas of our lives. Embracing our worth enables us to take risks, pursue our passions, and demand the respect and love we deserve.
In this episode, I’ll share a transformative journey that reshaped my understanding of worthiness, scarcity, and self-value. After returning from an incredible retreat, I felt compelled to share insights that taught me to honor my own worth—something I realized I’d often undervalued. As I continue on this path, I’m more aware than ever of the importance of a mindset rooted in abundance and self-respect. By choosing to value myself, I hope to inspire others to recognize that we are all deserving of the best—not just in special moments, but in how we live every day.

Life is never perfect. It may look perfect at times, but it can never truly be that way. There will always be ups and downs, challenges, and unexpected turns. For me, it was divorce. For you, it may be something else. When reality comes knocking at your door, it's important to find a safe place to be vulnerable. Often, we view vulnerability as a sign of weakness rather than strength, but when you truly see its importance, you realize that vulnerability can be your superpower.
Embracing vulnerability means accepting that it’s okay not to have everything figured out and trusting that God can turn ashes into beauty. Even when we feel shame or guilt about our failures, it’s essential to find a safe space to express our feelings and share our hearts. Remember, every challenge we overcome is a testament to our resilience and God’s wonderful grace in our lives. Our testimony will soon be our legacy and a guide for others who are walking down the path we once traveled.
In this first episode, I share about the power of testimony and how our stories can shape our nEXt chapters. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe to explore your feelings and know that you are not alone. I’ll be sharing my own experiences and inviting guests who have also walked through tough times. We will work our way through the learnings and tools to set us up for a better future. Thank you for being here and taking this first step with me! I’m excited to see where this journey takes us, and I can’t wait to hear your stories, too. nExt chapter, here we come!Song of the week: “Testimony” by Anthony Brown & group therAPy
