Heavenly Father,
Rather than thinking about what might have been today, remind me of your steadfast love and mercy, which never change. Give me eyes to see the new path You are forging and the fresh water springing from dry ground. Remind me that my good and Your glory are never separated. Jesus, I release every care and worry into Your hands. Help me sleep well as I rest on Your promises, assured of Your faithfulness.

Father, you are blessed. I praise You as the God of life. You are the one who brings the dead to life. You alone give us living hope through Christ. I confess that so often I place my hope in things which fade, things which do not have life in them. Forgive me for this. And thank you for the gift of a living hope. Jesus, you are the living hope. I entrust myself to you.
Lord, I praise You as the God of life, the One who brings the dead to life and gives to me a living hope through the resurrection of Christ. Help me to confidently trust you. In Jesus name, Amen.

Father, letting go of the night’s panicked mental box-ticking is me giving up the self-inflicted penance of worry and shame. Help me to remember the truth and fullness of Christ’s payment on the cross. Help me to see that exhausting myself with “good works” and the cycle of frantic overthinking at night will not earn me favor with you; you gave that to me when I gave my life to your Son, Jesus Christ. Let your power in the night be, for me, the power to get off of that treadmill and rest in forgiveness so that I can sleep and also enjoy the following day without crushing expectations that separate me from your peace. Lord, remind us that you are with us. Lord, Your ways provide a challenge and a handicap for us in our materialistic modern world, where we have so much to lose. But that’s exactly why, immediately upon telling us how to come after you, you ask what it would profit a person to gain the whole world but lose his or her soul (Mark 8:36). But those who have dared to walk in your way bear witness to having known the light of freedom and grace, of being loosed from the shackles of fear and loss in this world. Though you demand, we take up our cross, and you also assure us the burden is light. Though you move me towards completion and perfection every day, I know I will not attain it until I see you face-to-face. Until then, thank you for your forgiveness and the chance to always begin again by denying, standing, and walking.

Almighty God,
I thank you that you are with me during my day. I know my comings and my goings; are held in your hands, you are with me when I rise, and when I lay down. And in each place, you surround me with your presence, a presence that gives me peace, and patience, grace, and courage.Heavenly Father, as I enter this evening, I pray that you give me the ability to lay the new day before you. Instead of stressing over the events of the past, let me breathe deeply your inward peace. Instead of rushing head-on into the next day's plans, I give to you all that this next day will bring: my agenda, my plans, and those tasks that demand my best effort. I ask that you go ahead of me to the places of the unknown – where life will present me with things unplanned. In each of those places, I ask that your grace may be revealed so that I may rest in the knowledge that you are with me and you lead and you guide me.
Father, as I rest my body this evening, I pray that my soul rests in you. I pray all this in Jesus’ name.

Holy Lord, sometimes stillness can be so hard to find. My lists are long, and my rest is fitful. Anxieties make it feel as if everything is happening at once. But you assure me I have the ability to turn off the distractions and find the quiet moments and, in their silence, wait for you alone. And that having gone through the whirlwind is what gives me access to the deep and cleansing breaths of the Spirit in the lulls.
