    Cameron Hooker sieppasi nuoren Colleen Stanin, kun tämä oli liftaamassa ystävänsä luokse. Seitsemän vuotta kestäneen vankeuden aikana Colleen vietti suurimman osan päivistään erilaisissa laatikoissa, joista hän pääsi vapaaksi vain hetkiksi kerrallaan. Koko vankeutensa ajan Colleen luuli, että “Yhtiö” -niminen yritys tarkkaili häntä ja surmaisi hänet heti, jos hän yrittäisi karata.

    Kun Dave Krupan ja Cari Farverin lyhyt suhde yllättäen päättyi, Dave alkoi saamaan uhkaavia ja herjaavia tekstiviestejä ja sähköposteja Carilta. Davesta alkoi tuntua että häntä stalkattiin ja hän koki olonsa toisinaan uhatuksi. Pian häirintä laajeni koskemaan myös Daven entistä tapailukumppania Liziä, sekä kaikkia niitä naisia, joiden kanssa Dave jutteli deittisovelluksissa ja Facebookissa. Poliisien mielestä tapauksessa oli jotain outoa ja heidän oli vaikea uskoa, että Cari oli oikeasti uhkaavien viestien lähettäjä.
