Have you ever had a good week, a week where you moved your body and didn't overdo it and felt kind of proud of yourself, only to step on the scale and watch the number go UP? It is one of the most discouraging things in the world, and it is exactly where I found myself this week. The scale is up more than I've seen it all year. And here's the wild part: I actually ate less than the week before. But I am not worried about it one bit, and by the end of this episode, I don't want you to be either.
In this episode I'm getting real about what's actually going on with my body right now, two unusual weekends back to back, a whole lot of salt, my period, and the new hormones I'm working on as I move through perimenopause. Because so many of the women I work with tell me the same thing: that everything that used to work just doesn't work anymore now that they're in perimenopause or menopause, and they think THEY are the problem. My friend, you are not the problem. I'm talking about why the scale going up is not proof that you messed up or that there's something wrong with you, why it's just information, and how getting curious instead of frustrated changes everything. And I'm sharing a little banana chocolate chip muffin story that will show you exactly how to have the food you love, when you actually want it, instead of eating it just because it's there.
But here's what I am MOST excited about. I just created a brand new, completely free guide called The Secrets I'm Using to Lose 10 Pounds This Summer (Even on My Busiest Days). Inside, I walk you through six simple, doable, real-life things I'm using right now, no diet, no rules and restriction, just small shifts you can actually live with, each with one tiny thing you can try that same day. And you do not have to do all six. You pick the ONE that feels doable and you start there. Go grab it for free at sascy.com/secrets.
And if you're ready to build the version of all of this that fits YOUR body, YOUR schedule, and YOUR life, I'd love to talk. I have a limited number of one on one coaching spots this summer. Send me the word INTERESTED as a DM on Instagram @sascycycling or in an email to [email protected], and we can chat!

If you're coming out of this holiday weekend feeling like you undid all your progress, the scale is up, and you're this close to just giving up on the whole thing, this episode is for you. Because I just had a weekend exactly like that. Three BBQs, a cream puff I wasn't even hungry for, my scale up a few pounds. And I am completely unbothered. I want you to be able to feel that way too.
In this episode I'm getting really honest about who I used to be. Because if I'd had a weekend like this before I lost my weight, I would not have gotten on that scale. I would have told myself I blew it, that I'd never be disciplined enough, that I loved food too much to ever get this right. And I would have given up, until I got so disgusted with myself that I'd swing all the way into rules and restriction and start the whole painful cycle over again. If that is where you are right now, my friend, I see you. There is nothing wrong with you.
I'm also sharing what I do now instead, walking you through my actual weekend, why the scale being up is just information, and how I balance without a single ounce of drama. And I'm telling you something I've never said out loud on this show before: I want to lose ten pounds this summer, I'm leaning into my health on purpose, and I want to bring you along with me while I do it.
If you want someone in your corner as we head into the best part of summer, I'd love to talk. Send me the word INTERESTED as a DM on Instagram @sascycycling or in an email to [email protected], no pressure, just a conversation.

If you've got a holiday weekend or a summer vacation coming up and you're already stressing about the food, the BBQs, the drinks, and how much "damage control" you'll have to do afterward, this episode is for you. Because I just got back from vacation myself, the scale is up a little, and I am completely unbothered. And I want you to feel exactly that same way heading into your weekend.
In this episode I'm sharing why the holiday weekend was never actually the problem, and how all the stress and guilt we wrap around it is the only thing that ever hurt our progress. I'm talking about the huge shift in how I handle vacations now compared to the old days when I'd stress for a week beforehand and try to earn my food. And I'm getting real about the scale, why the number being up after a trip is just information and not a verdict on you, and how I went from hiding from the scale on Mondays to stepping on it with total curiosity instead of dread. You did not undo everything in one weekend, my friend. I promise.
If you want someone in your corner as you head into the best part of summer, I'd love to talk. Send me the word INTERESTED as a DM on Instagram @sascycycling or in an email to [email protected] so we can chat!

If part of you wants to lose weight this summer and finally feel good and strong in your body, but a louder part keeps insisting you're not ready, you missed your window, or you should just wait until the fall, this episode is for you. Because summer might be the very best time you'll get all year to start, and I want to show you why.
In this episode I'm making the case that the only thing standing between you and your summer is the thought that you have to be ready first. We'll talk about the difference between genuinely not being able to do something and simply not feeling ready (and why one of those is almost never a real reason to wait). I'll walk you through why summer makes losing weight so much easier than white-knuckling a resolution in cold, dark January, and I'll give you the one simple place to start, plus the single most important thing to focus on so you don't get overwhelmed and quit. By the end, I think you'll see that you haven't missed your chance at all. Your window is wide open, and it starts with one small step this week.
If you want someone in your corner helping you actually do this instead of trying to white-knuckle it alone, I'd love to talk. Send me the word INTERESTED as a DM on Instagram @sascycycling or in an email to [email protected], no pressure, just a conversation.

This Saturday I'm doing a 25 mile charity bike ride, and I want to be really honest with you. I have barely ridden more than five or ten miles at a time all winter long. So am I perfectly prepared? Nope, not even close. But I'm going anyway. And today I want to talk about why you do not have to be perfectly ready to do the thing you actually want to do, because I have a feeling there's something you've been holding yourself back from too.
In this episode I'm getting into the difference between genuinely not being able to do something and just not feeling ready for it (and why one of those is almost never a real reason to stay home). I'm sharing what my actual prep has looked like, how I'm making peace with being slower than I'd like and letting my son smoke me up the hills, and a story from last year's ride that taught me you never have to prove anything to anybody. There may also be a tater tot confession in here, and a very important sandwich.
If this one meant something to you, the best thing you can do is follow or subscribe to the podcast wherever you're listening. Every follow helps this little show reach more women just like us, and it genuinely helps me grow this community. I would so appreciate your help.

I was driving into work the other day and I passed a couple of women out riding their bikes. And my very first thought was not "good for them." It was "must be nice." They looked like they were living the dream, and there I was feeling like summer was already here and I'd completely missed my window to get ready for it. If you have ever had that exact thought, that everyone else has it together and you somehow don't, this episode is for you.
In this episode I'm getting into why "I'm behind" is just a thought, not the truth, and how that one thought quietly keeps you stuck and talking yourself out of even starting. I'm sharing where I actually am right now (spoiler: I've got a charity ride coming up that I feel wildly unprepared for), and the one place I want you to start instead of trying to fix everything at once. And it's probably not where you'd expect.

You've read the articles. You've downloaded the apps. You've tried the diets. At this point you could probably teach a class on how to lose weight. And yet here you are, still trying to figure out why it isn't working. Today I want to talk about the one thing that changed everything for me, and it's the one thing nobody is selling you, because you can't put it in an app and you can't print it on the cover of a magazine.
In this episode I'm getting into why a diet built for somebody else was never going to fit your actual life, why doing this all alone and in secret is the hardest possible way to do it, and how the fear of messing up in front of people is the very thing that keeps you stuck. I'm sharing the story of how I lost 50 pounds without telling a single soul it was even my goal, why that made everything so much harder, and what finally changes when you stop white-knuckling it by yourself and let the right people in.
I'm running a free Summer Weight Loss Challenge starting Monday, June 8th and it is built around everything I've been talking about on the podcast. Go to sascy.com/challenge to get on the list so you don't miss a thing. And if you're hearing this after the challenge has already happened, go to that link anyway because there will always be something there for you.

Over the last few weeks I've been talking about why you already know what to do but can't do it, why you quit every diet by week two, why you've stopped believing it's possible, and how finding movement I love was the real turning point in my weight loss. Today I'm tying all of that together. Because it all points to one thing. And once you see it, you can't unsee it.
In this episode I'm getting into why the way we've been taught to think about weight loss is completely backwards, why starting with calorie counting and restriction and intermittent fasting and saving up your points for the weekend is the reason nothing has stuck, and what actually needs to change if you want to lose weight in a way that you can keep up for the rest of your life.
I'm running a free Summer Weight Loss Challenge starting the week of June 2nd and you will have direct access to me during the challenge. I've had hundreds of women go through my free challenges over the years and I want you to be one of them. Go to sascy.com/challenge to get on the list so you don't miss a thing.

I've talked about the moment I stood in front of the mirror and decided to lose weight for the last time. But I've been thinking about it, and that wasn't actually when everything changed. The real moment happened a couple of years before that and it had nothing to do with food or dieting or calories.
In this episode I'm sharing the story of how my husband buying me a bike for our anniversary was the actual turning point in my weight loss journey, why falling in love with movement completely changed the way I thought about my body, and why I was probably in the best shape of my life while still being overweight. I'm also talking about why this isn't about biking and how finding YOUR thing, whatever that is, might be the piece that changes everything for you too.

If you've tried to lose weight so many times that you've quietly decided you're just not the kind of person who can do it, this episode is for you.
I'm sharing what it was like to grow up thinking I just loved food too much, the PowerBar and Powerade lunches in college to look good in a dress, the years of calorie counting and never having enough points, and how I eventually just stopped getting my hopes up. And I'm talking about what actually made me believe again, because it had nothing to do with finding the right diet.
If you don't believe it's possible for you yet, that's okay. I'll believe it for you until you're ready to believe it for yourself.
Also, I'm working on a brand new challenge for the lead up to summer starting the week of June 2nd! Go to sascy.com/challenge to get on the waitlist so you don't miss a thing. It's going to be SO good.

If you have ever started a diet on a Monday, been SO excited about it, kept it up for a week or maybe two, and then completely fallen off and spent the next few months feeling guilty about it before trying again, this episode is for you.
I'm sharing what this cycle looked like for me for years, including my very exciting first round of Weight Watchers with the little wallet and the McDonald's points booklet, the hand-me-down Nutrisystem food that tasted like cardboard, and the pattern of only being able to lose weight over the summer when I wasn't working. And I'm talking about why this keeps happening and why it has absolutely nothing to do with your willpower or motivation.
If you're tired of starting over, I am working on a brand new challenge for the lead up to summer that I am really excited about. Go to sascy.com/challenge to get on the waitlist so you don't miss a thing.

You know what to eat. You know you should be moving your body. You've read the books, you've done the calorie counting, you could probably give someone else advice on how to lose weight. And you still can't make it work for yourself.
In this episode I'm getting really honest about the gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it. I'm sharing what it used to look like for me standing in front of the pantry after a long day shoveling in Goldfish and pretzels and Doritos knowing it wasn't helping but not being able to stop. And I'm talking about what I actually needed to bridge that gap, because it wasn't more information.
If you've ever thought "I know what I should be doing, I just can't make myself do it," this one is for you.

Last week I didn't do a single formal workout. I was exhausted from work, not sleeping well, and barely had the energy to get through the day. But I spent a full day spreading mulch, coached my son's baseball team, and walked the dog a few times. When I looked back I realized it was one of my biggest movement weeks in a while. I just didn't see it because none of it felt like a "real" workout.
This week I'm on vacation with more energy and more time, so I made a simple movement plan and posted it on Instagram for accountability. Two completely different weeks. Both count. Both are moving me toward summer feeling good in my body.
In this episode I'm talking about why sustainable weight loss means knowing how to adjust instead of following a perfect plan, why movement matters but NOT because of the calories you burn, and why I'm being honest about the difference between "all movement counts" and avoiding the things you know you need to do.
If you've been beating yourself up because your weeks aren't perfect, you need to hear this.

I've been doing a 14 day challenge on Instagram and YouTube where every day I share one thing I stopped doing to lose 50 pounds. We're eight days in and the response has been amazing, so I wanted to bring you into what I've been sharing so far.
In this episode I'm walking you through all eight things I've covered, from counting calories to cheat days to hiding McDonald's bags so nobody would know I went through the drive-thru. I'm also sharing the story of the moment I decided to lose weight for the last time, and why I knew I had to do everything differently this time.
If you've ever felt like you're not the kind of person who can lose weight, I think you're going to hear yourself in at least a few of these. And we've still got six more days coming so follow me on Instagram and YouTube @sascycycling to catch the rest.
Share this episode with a friend who needs to hear that there's nothing wrong with her. The rules were wrong, not her.

If you overate this weekend and your brain is telling you that you need to restrict, skip meals, or do an extra hard workout to make up for it, this episode is for you. Because what you do RIGHT NOW matters so much more than what happened over the weekend.
I'm sharing exactly what I ate this Easter weekend (it involved three desserts, a Reese's egg, and a ham sandwich on a biscuit at 7 PM), what the scale said the next morning, and why I'm letting it mean absolutely nothing. I'm also talking about what I learned from my 30-day Instagram scale challenge back in January that completely changed how I think about weekends, overeating, and the number on the scale.
This episode is about breaking the cycle of overeating, feeling guilty, restricting, and starting over on Monday. Because the overeating was never actually the problem. It was what we made it mean about ourselves. And once you understand that, everything changes.

Summer is about 12 weeks away and I know what you're probably thinking. You're thinking about bathing suits and shorts and sleeveless tops and whether you're going to feel confident in your body. But I want to ask you a totally different question: how do you want to FEEL this summer?
In this episode I'm sharing why that one question changed everything for me, including a hike I took this week that reminded me exactly how I want to feel in my body all summer long. I'm also being honest about why I missed last week's episode (spoiler: the response from the Spring Weight Loss Kickoff Challenge was incredible and I was busy pouring into my new coaching clients).
If you've been stuck thinking about what you want to look like instead of how you want to feel, this episode is going to flip that for you. And I'm giving you one simple thing to do this week that will get you moving in the right direction.

We are right in the middle of the Spring Weight Loss Kickoff Challenge and it has been SO good. Women are showing up, sharing what they're going through, and having real breakthroughs about why weight loss hasn't been working for them. And if you didn't sign up or you're a couple days behind, this episode is going to catch you up so you can jump right in with us.
On Day 1 we talked about three things we've all been told about weight loss that just aren't true, and the responses from the women in the challenge were incredible. From calorie tracking apps that take the joy out of eating to the "calories in, calories out" advice that doesn't account for what's actually happening in our bodies during menopause, everyone just exhaled with relief knowing it's not their fault these things haven't worked.
On Day 2 we got into what actually DOES work for weight loss, and it's simpler than you think. Plus I'm giving you a sneak peek at what's coming on Day 3 because you are not going to want to miss it.
It is not too late to join us. Sign up for free at sascy.com/challenge and catch up in about ten minutes. If the challenge has already ended by the time you're hearing this, head to sascy.com/challenge anyway and get on the waitlist for the next one.

You're eating better. You're moving your body. You're doing all the things. And the scale won't budge. Or worse, it's going UP.
Here's what you need to know: the scale doesn't just measure fat. It measures water, muscle, food in your stomach, swelling, and hormones. So when the scale goes up, it doesn't always mean you gained fat.
I just finished weighing myself every single day for 30 days and saw patterns. The scale went up after workouts because my muscles were holding water. It went up on Mondays because of salt and water retention. Understanding these patterns changed everything.
In this episode I'm breaking down why the scale doesn't always show your real progress and what to do when it feels stuck. I'm talking about all the things that affect the scale that have nothing to do with fat loss. Why what worked before doesn't work the same way as you get older (hello perimenopause and menopause!). The non-scale factors that actually matter. How long to keep going before you change something. And, what to actually do when the scale won't move.
You might be overeating healthy food. You might be underfeeding your workouts while trying to lose weight. Your body might just need more time. Or your current weight might be exactly where you need to be right now.
The scale isn't the enemy. But it's not telling you the whole truth either.

Tired of tracking every single calorie? Done with Weight Watchers, MyFitnessPal, and Noom? You're not alone. And here's what the influencers and experts won't tell you: you don't actually need to track your macros and calories to lose weight successfully.
I lost 50 pounds in 2020 without tracking a single thing. That was six years ago. I'm now in full blown perimenopause and I haven't gained the weight back. And I still don't track anything.
In this episode I'm sharing exactly how I did it and how you can lose weight without calorie counting apps or food tracking. Because here's the problem: tracking disconnects you from your body. It keeps you from eating when you're hungry and stopping when you're satisfied. It teaches you to restrict and creates a good food bad food mentality that's impossible to sustain.
So what do you do instead? You plan. Five minutes every morning. You eliminate decision fatigue by eating the same breakfast and lunch. You fuel your workouts properly without restricting on active days. You follow your hunger cues. And you test and find out what actually works for YOUR body.
We're covering why Weight Watchers and calorie counting apps don't work long term, the simple five minute morning meal planning system that replaces tracking, how to eliminate decision fatigue around food, how to fuel your bike rides and workouts when you're trying to lose weight, and why eating when you're hungry and stopping when you're satisfied is more effective than any app.
This is for women over 40 who are done with restrictive diets and ready for a sustainable weight loss approach that doesn't require micromanaging your life in an app.
If you want personalized support creating a plan that actually works for your body and your life, email [email protected] or DM @sascycycling on Instagram with the word INTERESTED so that we can chat about what will work best for you!
