How well does the EV charging infrastructure in North America serve the market in 2024? With EV adoption breaking 10% of new vehicle sales and used EV sales strong, are we close to overburdening the public charging stations available, or in the pipeline for the near future?
This installment of Coast-to-Coast EVs focuses on a discussion we had in June, where the idea of "overbuilding" charging infrastructure was raised. It generated some vibrant debate in the comments and we promised to unpack the idea further, so here's your chance!

In a week when the International Auto Show hits New York City and spring travel is about to get underway, EV infrastructure is about to be tested again. State-level networks like NYPA's EVolve NY have emerged as an important piece of the charging puzzle, opening up access to routes that the national players haven't yet focused on. This conversation covers the planning, difficulties, and opportunities of building out fast charging infrastructure in a state with more than 2,000 miles of road designated as Alternative Fuel Corridors (AFC).
