  • In the final episode of the season, I got the absolute pleasure of chatting with Michael Perry, otherwise known as @Mr_plantgeek who I was very lucky to meet in person at Ellen Mary’s Wild Wellbeing Retreat back in April. As soon as we returned I bought his book ‘Hortus Curious’ and enjoyed it all the more for having spend 3 days in his company. Michael is an incredibly funny, intelligent and forward-thinking man and I was very excited to have him as the final episode, it felt like the perfect way to end the season. This conversation ended up being a little less about plants and more about going after the things you want in life, believing in yourself and overall not being afraid to be you, but don’t worry, there is PLENTY of plant chat in there too, from tulip fields to jam packed garden borders. Enjoy!

  • In this episode, I got the pleasure of with one of the local flower farmers in my area, Harriet Mullions of Sweet Peas and Sunflowers, all about her journey into growing flowers. Harriet’s beautiful farm was one of the first that I visited, just 20 minutes down the road from me and I’ve loved watching her journey and getting to know her over the past few months, and am always so grateful for a little message here and there about spare pots, meet ups and seedlings that I might be able to make use of! She is both a regional and national coordinator for Flowers from the Farm and though the platform has offered me (and I’m sure so many others) so much support, advice and overall loveliness to motivate us in our journey. If you’re a flower grower and are not already a member of Flowers From the Farm, I’d highly recommend signing up because it’s an amazing community where I’ve gleaned so many useful pieces of advice and felt so inspired by the other growers all across the UK making waves in the industry. Without further ado, here’s the episode with the wonderful Harriet!

  • In this episode I got the chance to chat once again to Andy from Urban Herbs who has been making waves in the gardening community for quite some time now. With the launch of his new book: The Herb Gardening Handbook, and the incredibly growth of his personal account @andygrowsherbs, it felt like the perfect time to catch up and hear how things are going. Watch out, the late tomato growalong coming soon!

  • In this episode I chatted to the incredible Field Kitchen Head Gardener at Riverford Organic, Penny Hemming about her journey into the world of growing and how she ended up with what I’d certainly consider as my absolute dream job. Her enthusiasm, passion and willingness to share was just so wonderful, and whilst I couldn’t visit Penny in real life at her garden due to illness, listening to her story certainly brightened my spirits and got me exciting for the many growing years I have ahead of me! Enjoy!

  • In this episode I caught up with my ultimate flowery inspiration, friend and boss business owner Lizzie from The Rose Press Garden for the first ever repeat guest episode. Lizzie was the second person I ever interviewed for the podcast and at the time, she was just about to go full-time with the business, and I was still dreaming about starting a flower farm. A lot has happened since then! Lizzie is the loveliest lady and is really making waves in the gardening space so I know you're going to love hearing from her once again!

  • Recording this episode was an extra special treat, because it meant that I got the chance to tick off another location on my 30 before 30 list, which includes visiting all 8 of the fabulous The PIG hotels. Whilst at The Pig near Bath, I had the pleasure of speaking with the Group’s Head Kitchen Gardener, Ollie Hutson, who I met previously at Hampton Court Palace and who has the most incredible job. On a mission to escape the family business, Ollie’s career path took him down the horticultural route, only to be pulled back in when his parents informed him of their latest project with kitchen gardens at the heart of each one. The PIG hotels are beautiful boutique hotels, each with their own unique kitchen gardens that champion the connection between the kitchen and the garden. They are my absolute favourite places to visit be it for lunch, one of their events or to stay the night, where every detail has been considered and you’re fully immersed in the experience. I was incredibly grateful, not only to have a tour from Ollie himself but to get the chance to chat to the man who brought these inspirational garden spaces to life. I really loved recording this one so I hope you’ll enjoy listening! You can your very own copy of the 500 miles of Food, Friends and Local Legends book here.

  • In this episode, I was really excited to get the chance to interview my sister, otherwise known as @the_gardenmum to share the exciting evolution of The Mini Gardeners Club. Tan has recently taken over leading as we look to expand the program across the UK and is doing such an amazing job of connecting with schools, community groups and young people to spread our message and get the next generation growing! I’ve been so motivated by her enthusiasm to get this project off the ground which has seen it go from a tiny seed of an idea to an absolute jungle of potential. There’s even a little exclusive announcement about one of the most fabulous events we’ll be at this year too so I hope you’ll enjoy!

  • In this episode, I got the pleasure of chatting to James, known as @gardendesignerjames on Instagram for something a little different. Whilst most episodes see conversations about a love of growing, this episode is focused more around the flow and design of gardens to create a sanctuary. At just 26, James has already achieved an incredible amount as an RHS show garden medallist and it was fantastic to get an insight into what it's like to be a garden designer. I really hope you'll enjoy hearing more about his story and be able to take away some ideas for your own outdoor spaces.

  • In this episode I got the chance to chat to Emily from @emilysgreendiary, a young lockdown gardener who found a love for growing things and has recently doubled her growing space. As one of our new The Mini Gardeners Club leaders, it was great to hear more about Emily’s journey and why she wanted to be a part of our pilot program, bringing gardening back into schools and inspiring children from a young age. I’m sure Emily’s gardening story with resonate with a lot of you, so I hope you’ll enjoy!

  • Today’s episode is a little extra special bonus interview with founder of ACAI Outdoorwear Kasia Bromley. Having grown up with her parents who were flower farmers and helped out weddings and keeping the farm alive, Kasia’s love for the great outdoors began in her very early years. Having studied fashion at university and moved on to work for couture brands such as Alexander McQueen, she founded ACAI to move the women’s outdoor wear away from the ‘pink it and shrink it’ approach which had gone on for too long to fill a gap in the womenswear category. As a former fashion student myself, I loved this episode and hearing how similar some of our stories are. I hope you enjoy this little insight into the brand that I love so much, how it began and their ethos of being made by women, for women.

  • In today’s episode, I chatted with the lovely Emma from @emmasallotmentdiaries on Instagram about her growing space and was fascinated to compare the stories of our growing experiences. Emma shared her tales of learning to grow where something will go ridiculously well one year, and the next, with absolutely no warning, will be one of your fabulous fails - be it a pumpkin arch or a carrot patch. It’s been a while since we’ve had an allotment guest on the podcast so it was fab to share our veg trials and tribulations whilst get excited for the year ahead where both of us are going back to basics. Enjoy!

  • On today’s episode I had the pleasure of chatting to James of Stem and Green who made a career swap from being a TV producer to growing and selling sustainable, British flowers with a small team in Hampshire. I found this chat to be so helpful in figuring out what I wanted from my own business, plus hearing James talk about his planning methods honestly made my heart sing, excel spreadsheet lovers, this one is for you. Don’t worry if you’re not the planning type, because there are so many brilliant business takeaways and inspiring segments to be had in this episode hearing the story of two growing seasons and the start of a flowery empire which I for one am incredibly excited to see expand in the coming months and years. Enjoy!

  • In this episode I chatted to Debs, part of the @wildzinniabristol duo who grow and sell British blooms. Having started their business on an allotment and recently had an exciting expansion onto a bigger space, it was fantastic to hear about how their business works, what Debs loves the most and what they’ve learnt along the way. As a start-up flower farmer myself, I always find these conversations incredibly motivational and eye-opening so I really value each and every guest who takes the time to come and chat. Whether that’s going foraging in the woods, leaving a job that isn’t right for you or adding a wood fired bath tub to your garden. I’ve loved watching Danni’s allotment adventures over the past 5 years and it was lush to have to chance to chat more about some of the things that have inspired me the most, including her permaculture herb spiral! I know you’re going to love this one so without further ado, here’s this week’s episode.

  • In this episode I got the pleasure of chatting with no-dig gardening guru and award-winning author Stephanie Hafferty who is another guest I had the pleasure of meeting, and watched speaking, at Hampton Court Palace earlier this year where I heard the ‘bonking ladybird’ story, one which never fails to make me laugh but is a fantastic lesson in the garden. Stephanie is such an inspiration, showing people how to keep growing all year round whilst making the most wonderful habitats for wildlife in the meantime. Having not long moved to a new homestead in Wales, I loved hearing about her progress so far, and about all of the exciting things coming soon.

  • In this episode, I chatted to Ally from @theduckpatch and we shared our experience of growing wedding flowers this year, her for her own wedding and I for my sisters. It was lovely to look back on the experience and laugh at all the things that didn’t go quite right, knowing that in the end, we both had beautiful blooms for the big days and that we’d learnt heaps along the way. We chatted over Instagram all year sharing our panics and progress so this felt like a perfect opportunity to get together and reflect on the journey. Enjoy!

  • In this episode I chatted to Leigh, otherwise known as @beardygardener, who I met earlier this year at Hampton Court Palace, and we even ended up on stage together! This episode started of with Leigh sharing some very personal experiences of how the garden helped him through his younger years which led to the Giving Garden concept, and ended up as a bit of a gardening brainstorm on how we can inspire and make it more accessible for people to get into gardening. If you’ve got any thoughts you’d like to share from our brainstorm where we got a little too excited near the end, please do get in touch!

  • In this episode I chatted to the wonderful Daisy from @gardentogarnish all about where her love of gardening grew from. Having recently bought a majestic cottage in the countryside, she shared lots about her growing spaces through the years from a new build garden to an allotment, as well as plans for this new, amazing space. Daisy shared such lovely, heartwarming stories of her experiences over the years and I really enjoyed this one so I hope you will too!
