  • “Feature Film” –  The Rocketeer

    Wikipedia

Set in 1938 Los Angeles, California, The Rocketeer tells the story of stunt pilot Cliff Secord who stumbles upon a hidden rocket-powered jet pack that he thereafter uses to fly without the need of an aircraft. His heroic deeds soon attract the attention of Howard Hughes and the FBI, who are hunting for the missing jet pack, as well as the Nazi operatives that stole it from Hughes.

    Trivia - IMDB

The character of Neville Sinclair was loosely modelled after Errol Flynn, who was suspected of being a Nazi spy.

The Gee Bee racer was nicknamed "The Widowmaker" and "The Flying Coffin" because it was incredibly difficult to fly and was prone to crashing. Because of its speed and maneuverability, some pilots still raced it despite the danger.

The actual Gee Bee used in filming was only allowed to land a very limited amount of times during its time working on the movie, as landings are extremely hard on the landing gear of this particular plane.

During the fight scene on-board the zeppelin, Cliff says to Neville, "Where's your stuntman now Sinclair?", to which Neville replies "I do my own stunts." This line is in reference to Timothy Dalton's time as James Bond, since he is known for being the only Bond actor to perform most of his own stunts.

Billy Campbell, who once studied commercial art, made sure to read the Dave Stevens graphic novel, on which this film was based. He got the part after getting a haircut to make himself look identical to the character in the graphic novel.

Joe Johnston's work on this film is what led to his hiring as director of Captain America: The First Avenger

Disney had a special mechanism built especially for this film. Called the "Shaky-cam", it was designed to be the exact opposite of the "Steady-cam", that is, to introduce vibrations into the picture. This was used in the scenes filmed inside the Zeppelin to give the impression of the power of the engines. When the movie went to video, the effect didn't transfer too well, and was therefore steadied.

  • Hello and welcome to Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust, a podcast where we chat about all things Disney by reviewing films, testing our trivia skills, discussing the latest news, and ending every episode with a top 4 ranking.

We had hoped to return with our regular episodes by now but our current job situations are preventing us from having time to get together to record. We still plan to get back to our regular episodes as soon as we are able. Kerry is busy adjusting to her new teaching situation in these weird pandemic times and Cori’s work has her working longer hours than normal on an important study.

In the meantime we may be releasing shorter episodes here and there and may also stream these and other content on our friend’s podcast Twitch channel twitch.tv/1geek411.

You can stay up to date with when those happen on our Facebook, Faith Trust and Pixie Dust - Podcast and our Titter @FTPD_Podcast.

“Feature Film” –  Ratatouille - Pixar

A rat named Remy dreams of becoming a great French chef despite his family's wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent-phobic profession. When fate places Remy in the sewers of Paris, he finds himself ideally situated beneath a restaurant made famous by his culinary hero, Auguste Gusteau. Despite the apparent dangers of being an unlikely, and certainly unwanted, visitor in the kitchen of a fine French restaurant, Remy's passion for cooking soon sets into motion a hilarious and exciting rat race that turns the culinary world of Paris upside down.

    Trivia

Pet rats were kept at the studio in the hallway for more than a year so that the animators could study the movement of their fur, noses, ears, paws, and tails.

To find out how to animate the scene where the Head Chef is wet, they actually dressed someone in a chef suit, and put him in a swimming pool to see which parts of the suit stuck to his body, and which parts you could see through.

(At around sixteen minutes) When Remy (Patton Oswalt) is climbing out of the sewers for the first time, he is barked at by a dog in one of the houses. You only see the dog's silhouette, but it is actually the dog Dug from Pixar's then still-in-production movie Up (2009).

Marketing tie-ins proved to be problematic for this movie as no food product company wanted to be associated with a rat.

In France, where this movie is set, the movie broke the record for the biggest debut for an animated movie.

PIXAR TRADEMARK: (At around one hour and fourteen minutes) Nearly every Pixar movie shows the Pizza Planet truck from the Toy Story franchise. The truck appears on the bridge over the Seine, in the scene where Skinner (Sir Ian Holm) chases Remy (Patton Oswalt).

The ratatouille dish prepared by Remy is the alternate variation called confit byaldi. It was adapted by film consultant Thomas Keller. This variation differs much from the conventional ratatouille in terms of preparation and method. The major difference is that the vegetables used are sliced thinly and baked instead of cooking them in the pot.

Chef and television personality Anthony Bourdain's favorite food-centric movie. Bourdain said, "They got the food, the reactions to food, and tiny details to food really right, down to the barely noticeable pink burns on one of the character's forearms. I really thought it captured a passionate love of food in a way that very few other films have."

Walt Disney Pictures was reluctant to push this movie as a nominee for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, fearing that members might overlook it in the Best Animated Feature category where it was deemed to be a lock. Instead, they concentrated their efforts on making sure it won in the animated category.

“Feature Film” – The Muppet Movie: The original muppet movie from 1979 is the story of how the Muppets first got together and made it big. We follow Kermit from his humble swamp-singing origins as he follows his newfound dream to become a rich and famous performer and make people happy. Along the way, he meets Fozzie, Gonzo, Miss Piggy and the whole muppet gang, all the while trying to avoid Doc Hopper, the determined fried frog leg entrepreneur that wants to force Kermit into advertising for him.

    Trivia

This movie is absolutely chock full of cameos:

    Dom DeLuise

    Richard Pryor

    James Coburn

    Madeline Kahn

    Elliot Gould

    Paul Williams

    Milton Berle

    Bob Hope

    Edgar Bergen

    Carol Kane

    Telly Savalas

    Steve Martin

    Cloris Leachman

    Mel Brooks

    Orson Welles

A lot of puppetry innovations were incorporated into this movie because of the resources available with the budget they were given - Kermit riding a bicycle, sitting and playing the banjo, fozzie driving the car - all deceptively simple.

The convincing look of Fozzie driving the car full of muppets was pulled off by having puppeteers lying on the floor of the vehicle while a little person in the trunk controlled the car via remote control and a video monitor.

Animal crashing through the roof after eating Dr. Honeydew’s Insta Grow pills was NOT a scale model, and they had to build a 60-ft Animal head to achieve the right look

A cut subplot followed Statler and Waldorf throughout the movie, heckling the other characters

I hope that something better comes along was a rare appearance of Rowlf alongside Kermit

More than 250 Muppets appeared in the final reprise of Rainbow Connection

    “Feature Film” – Treasure Planet

The legendary "loot of a thousand worlds" inspires an intergalactic treasure hunt when 15-year-old Jim Hawkins stumbles upon a map to the greatest pirate trove in the universe, "Treasure Planet." Based on one of the greatest adventure stories ever told - Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island" - this film follows Jim's fantastic journey across a parallel universe as a cabin boy aboard a glittering space galleon.

    Trivia

The name of the ship, "R.L.S. Legacy", is a reference to the book's ("Treasure Island") author, Robert Louis Stevenson.

B.E.N. sings a few bars from "Pirates of the Carribean", a pirate-themed attraction at the Disney's Magic Kingdom.

As of 2011, this was Disney's biggest financial loss. Total cost: $180 million (including $40 million for advertising). Total worldwide gross: $101 million. Total loss: $79 million.

This movie was pitched to Disney by John Musker and Ron Clements several times: (1) In 1985, during production on The Black Cauldron (1985), but they ended up assigned to direct The Great Mouse Detective (1986). (2) After directing The Little Mermaid (1989), but they ended up assigned to direct Aladdin (1992). (3) After directing Aladdin (1992), but the studio wanted them to direct Hercules (1997). Musker and Clements agreed to direct that movie only if they were allowed to make this movie right after it.

The animators visited a Benihana restaurant to take notes for the scene where John Silver chops shrimp.

Amelia, in the original design, was going to have tentacles for hair that would move and hold objects.

Jim's clothes become lighter as this movie progresses, symbolizing his transformation from "bad boy" to "hero". Near the beginning, he wears a black t-shirt. During his adventure towards and on Treasure Planet, he wears a tan shirt. In the final scene, he wears a white military uniform.

A planned sequel was cancelled due to this movie's failure at the box office, and when John Lasseter was appointed CEO of Walt Disney Animation Studios, his first task was to cancel all sequels and television shows. In the proposed treatment, Jim Hawkins and Kate, his love interest and classmate at the Royal Interstellar Academy, must team with Long John Silver to stop the villainous Ironbeard from freeing the inmates of Botany Bay Prison Asteroid. Willem Dafoe was set to voice Ironbeard.

To enhance his "bad boy" reputation, the producers added a dark "mask" over Jim's eyes and gave him a black jacket, which he wears in most scenes for the first half of this movie. However, in the second half, he is no longer seen wearing the jacket and by the final scene, the "mask' is gone.

On the planet in B.E.N.'s cave, Dr. Doppler says the phrase "Dangit Jim, I'm not a doctor. I mean I am, but it's a doctorate, it's not the same thing." This is a reference to Star Trek (1966), where Dr. Leonard H. "Bones" McCoy, always said "Damnit Jim, I'm a doctor, not a ____!" to Captain James T. Kirk.

    “Feature Film” – Tangled

The magically long-haired Rapunzel has spent her entire life in a tower, but now that a runaway thief has stumbled upon her, she is about to discover the world for the first time, and who she really is.

    Trivia

Disney's previous animated feature The Princess and the Frog (2009), despite being popular with critics and audiences alike, was a box office disappointment. Disney felt that the film's princess theme discouraged young boys from seeing it. In an attempt to market the film to a broader audience, Disney changed the title of the film from Rapunzel to Tangled, and promoted it as a comedic adventure. An early trailer for the film focused less on Princess Rapunzel and more on Flynn Rider, the male lead character. It was originally believed that Disney's marketing campaign was a desperate attempt to search for a particular audience. However, directors Byron Howard and Nathan Greno claimed that the title change was to emphasize that Flynn has as much of a role in the film as Rapunzel.

The most expensive Disney film in the animated canon, at US$260 million.

This is the first animated Disney "princess" film to get a PG rating by the MPAA. The previous Disney princess films up to that point were all rated G.

The character design of Flynn came from the process called the "hot man meeting" by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard, during which they set up a meeting with all of the female employees of the studio in one room and asked them for their opinions of what made a man good-looking, in order to create Flynn's character design with features such as eye color, hair color and style and body type. Video footage showed concept art and photos of various male celebrities, including Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman, Brad Pitt, David Beckham and Gene Kelly, on the walls of the room.

For the scene in which Rapunzel enters the marketplace, the animators were inspired by entrances of Walt Disney World and Disney Land. Rapunzel's excitement towards all the music and people is reminiscent of children at the parks.

Zachary Levi auditioned for the part of Flynn Rider and got it, with an English accent. Later, this was dropped and Levi read the role in his own American accent instead.

Over 45,000 lanterns are used during the "I See the Light" sequence.

Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel both auditioned for the role of Rapunzel. Three years later, they both starred together in Frozen (2013) as Anna and Elsa.

Pinocchio can be found in the Snuggly Duckling, right after the cupid is swung to the right of the screen. He is in the top right corner in the rafters. In addition, Pumbaa from The Lion King (1994) (visible in the same scene) and Louis from The Princess and the Frog (2009) (one of the puppets used later in the song) can also be found. It can be inferred that they are all involved in this scene due to them all having dreams (Pinocchio: real boy, Pumbaa: accepted despite bad gas, Louis: jazz musician).

    “Feature Film” – Stargirl

After the death of his father, Leo moves to Mica, Arizona and initially stands out by wearing his father’s porcupine tie everywhere - until it is cut up by bullies. After that, even though Leo makes the decision to fit in, every year on his birthday he is anonymously gifted a porcupine tie. Years later, the school is buzzing about the new student when Stargirl Caraway makes her appearance at the high school. She is quirky and unique and makes a huge splash at the unremarkable school that has never won an award. Stargirl manages to raise school spirit and is considered their “lucky charm” as the football team actually begins to win games and she and Leo begin a relationship. Eventually, though, Stargirl’s unusual behavior begins to lose favor with the students and everything comes to a head as, instead of cheering the school to victory, Stargirl accompanies the injured star player of the opposing team to the hospital. Without their “lucky charm”, the team loses and everyone blames Stargirl. With pressure from Leo and her classmates, Stargirl tries to be more “normal” and starts going by Susan, the name she was born with. But during a speech competition, Susan realizes that she needs to be herself - she presents as Stargirl, wins the contest, and breaks up with Leo. Her trophy is the only one in the school’s case. At the school dance, Stargirl gives Leo a “surprise” - she has arranged for Leo to sing onstage the way he used to do with his father. The students pour outside and snow begins to fall. No one sees Stargirl again - her family moves away and leaves behind only rumors that, over the years, progressively become more and more mythic about the magic of Stargirl.

    “Feature Film” – Moana

Summary- The film tells the story of Moana, the strong-willed daughter of a chief of a Polynesian village, who is chosen by the ocean itself to reunite a mystical relic with the goddess Te Fiti. When a blight strikes her island, Moana sets sail in search of Maui, a legendary demigod, in the hope of returning the relic to Te Fiti and saving her people.

    Trivia

The spiral on Moana's necklace and on the sail of her boat is called a koru. It represents the unfurling fern frond, symbolizing new life, new beginnings, personal growth, hope, a new start, perfection, rebirth, awakening, purity, the spirit of rejuvenation and peace. As a double spiral, it also symbolizes kinship and belonging.

Dwayne Johnson believes that voice acting is the most difficult career in acting, and is personally annoyed when celebrities are cast in animated films despite voicing their characters badly. When Johnson was cast for the film, he repeatedly asked the other voice actors present if he was really giving a good performance.

Lin-Manuel Miranda has said the character of Tamatoa the Giant Crab was a tribute to David Bowie.

The tattoos on Moana’s father’s abdomen are the same tattoos worn by, Dwayne Johnson's maternal grandfather.

When he first gets his hook and is trying to shapeshift, Maui changes into various animals. For a split second, he turns into Sven the Reindeer from Frozen (2013).

The first baby in the Production Babies credit is Sebastian, Lin-Manuel Miranda's son, who was born during the making of this film. He's named for the crab in The Little Mermaid (1989).

Alan Tudyk is the only main cast member who isn't of Polynesian descent. All other main cast members are of at least partial Polynesian or New Zealand descent.

Lin-Manuel Miranda has said that The Little Mermaid (1989) had inspired him to become a songwriter for films like this. Interestingly enough, both The Little Mermaid (1989) and Moana (2016) were directed by the celebrated duo directing team of John Musker and Ron Clements. ( there is also a Little Mermaid reference at the end of the credits AND Lin named his son, sebastian)

The original idea was for the film to branch away from the Disney Princess template and focus entirely on Maui, with the story a loose conglomeration of a few legends about him. The crew traveled to Polynesia, and became so fascinated with the culture that Moana was created as the new focus character.

Two scenes reference Pocahontas (1995): Chief Tui echoes a scene in which a fatherly chief acknowledges his daughter by saying "it suits you", this time rather than referring to Pocahontas' necklace, Chief Tui speaks of Moana's role as a leader in the village. Additionally, in Tamatoa's song, "Shiny," he mentions Moana's granny saying "listen to your heart", also from Pocahontas.

“Feature Film” – Oliver and Company

    Trivia

Wikipedia - Oliver & Company is a 1988 American animated musical film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released on November 18, 1988, by Walt Disney Pictures. The 27th Disney animated feature film, the film is based on the classic Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist, which has been adapted many other times for the screen. In the film, Oliver is a homeless kitten who joins a gang of dogs to survive in the streets. Among other changes, the setting of the film was relocated from 19th century London to modern-day New York City, Fagin's gang is made up of dogs (one of which is Dodger), and Sykes is a loan shark.

Following the release of The Black Cauldron, Michael Eisner and Jeffrey Katzenberg held a pitch meeting with the animation staff, in which story artist Pete Young pitched the idea to adapt Oliver Twist with dogs. The pitch was quickly approved, and the film quickly went into production under the working title Oliver and the Dodger. Released on the same day as The Land Before Time, Oliver & Company was a box office success, but it received mixed reviews from film critics.

IMDB: When Oliver wakes up after sleeping on the truck tire, he sees people crossing past the alley where he's slept. One of those people is Roger from One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961) (look for the guy with the brown hair, blue shirt, and blue pants).

Animators shot photos of New York streets as reference, using cameras set eighteen inches off the ground to get a dog's point of view.

One of few animated films to feature a front-and-center shot of New York City's Twin Towers. After the tragedy of 9/11, when shots of the iconic towers were being removed from many films to avoid upsetting people, Disney opted not to attempt to edit out the towers, mostly because it would ruin the film's original main title card and because it would be too time-consuming and costly to do. By 2001, Oliver & Company had already been widely distributed on VHS, so there was no point in editing it. Many New Yorkers later commended Disney not altering the film because they felt it was a good portrayal of the way New York used to be before 9/11, and they wanted it left as it was with the towers visible.

The first Disney film to have its own department set up expressly for the purpose of generating computer animation.

The last animated Disney Classic to use line overlay, also called cel overlay, a technique used to make the backgrounds match the lines of the xeroxed objects in the film.

Dom DeLuise (Fagin) had already had roles in several other animated films by this point, namely those by Don Bluth, but this was the only time he got the chance to voice a character in a Disney film. He loved the role so much, he kept ad-libbing lines that ended up being included in the film. He even chose to be in Oliver & Company (1988) over Bluth's The Land Before Time (1988) which released on the same day.

The song "Why Should I Worry?" was later used as the theme song of a Disney TV series starring Joey Lawrence, who voiced Oliver in this film.

As of 2017, this is the only film in which Billy Joel has had an acting role (all other credited roles have been as himself or as the lead in his music videos).

“Feature Film” – Benji the Hunted

Synopsis -  Benji, a movie star dog, is lost in the water while filming a scene. Despite long and intensive searches, he is unable to be found and washes ashore in the wilderness alone. Right away he encounters a mountain lion, just in time to see her shot by a hunter. Despite his best efforts, he is unable to revive the cougar before the hunter appears to shoo Benji away and finish the job.

Benji soon discovers that the puma was a mother with four little cubs, and he makes it his responsibility to care for the little ones in their mother’s absence.

When his owner’s search extends to helicopter, Benji is forced to choose between reuniting with his beloved owner or continue raising the cubs - he chooses to stay and look after the cubs.

Benji does his best to guide the cubs through the dangers of the wilderness - starvation, wolves, hunters and eagles. Ultimately, he is able to safely bring three cubs to another mother cougar, who only has one little cub.

    Trivia -

Despite some really weird “facts” floating around on the internet, filming of Benji the Hunted was supervised by the Humane Society, which certified that no animals were harmed.

“Benji” is played by Benjean, daughter of the original Benji (actually named Higgins)

    “Feature Film” – Cool Runnings

    Synopsis -

Derice Bannock, a top 100m runner, fails to qualify for the Jamacian team going to the 1988 Summer Olympics when fellow runner Junior trips and falls, taking Derice and another runner, Yul Brenner, with him. To compete in the Olympics, Derice and his best friend, Sanka, a champion push cart racer, seek out Irv Blitzer, an old friend of Derice's father Ben who tried to recruit sprinters to the bobsled team years ago. Irving is an American bobsled two time Gold Medalist at the 1968 Winter Olympics who finished first in two events again during the 1972 Winter Olympics but was disqualified from the latter for cheating and retired in disgrace to Jamaica, where he leads an impoverished life as a bookie. Derice's persistence eventually convinces Irving to be their coach and return to the life he left behind. They eventually recruit Junior and Yul, though Yul is still upset over Junior's mistake at the Olympic Trial. The rest is, literally, history.

    Trivia -

Contrary to the story in movie, the Jamaican team was met with open arms by the international Bobsledding teams. One of the other teams even went so far as to lend the Jamaican team a back-up sled so they could qualify.

The Jamaican bobsledder characters in the movie were all fictional characterizations and were not based on their real life counterparts. John Candy's Irving "Irv" Blitzer coach character is also fictional.

Final John Candy starring film to be released before he died of a heart attack five months later.

The original cast who was envisaged by Disney for the film was Denzel Washington as Derice, Eddie Murphy as Sanka, Wesley Snipes as Yul, Marlon Wayans as Junior and John Candy as Irving Blitzer. Finally, only Candy played in this film.

The crash scene at the end of the movie, except for the close-up shots, was the real footage of the actual Jamaican bobsled team crash taken from the 1988 Winter Olympic Games.

Contrary to the movie, the infamous crash wasn't due to a mechanical error, but more or less losing control of the sled at such a high speed.

    “Feature Film” – Pixar’s Onward

SynopsisSet in a suburban fantasy world, Disney and Pixar’s “Onward” introduces two teenage elf brothers who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still a little magic left out there. Pixar Animation Studios’ all-new original feature film is directed by Dan Scanlon and produced by Kori Rae—the team behind “Monsters University.”

    Trivia

Pixar's iconic Pizza Planet truck appears in the troll bridge toll scene.

Pixar's first film without any involvement from John Lasseter, following his departure as CEO of Disney's Animation Areas.

The fifth Pixar film to not feature any humans, after A Bug's Life (1998) and the Cars trilogy.

On January 27, 2020, a San Francisco tattoo artist named Sweet Cecily Daniher filed a lawsuit against Disney, Pixar, and Onward (2020) producer Kori Rae. In September 2018, Pixar rented a van owned by Daniher and decorated with a unicorn-themed mural for use in a one-day festival. She learned about the production of Onward in May 2019 and, after seeing images of the van used by Ian and Barley Lightfoot in the film, came to believe that Pixar had stolen the design of her van in violation of her rental agreement with the company. Daniher is suing for copyright infringement and violations of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, Visual Artists Rights Act, and California Artists Protection Act. She is also suing to prohibit distribution of the film and any infringing advertisements or merchandise. The suit is pending as of February 2020.

Tom Holland's third time voice acting in a theatrical film, after Spies in Disguise (2019) and Dolittle (2020)

This is the first Pixar film not to feature the credits "Disney presents" and "a Pixar Animation Studios film" in the opening.

Pixar's first film to not be released in either May, June, or November.

“Feature Film” – George of the Jungle

    Synopsis

George of the Jungle is a goofy comedy based on the 1967 cartoon series and classic “jungle boy” type stories of orphaned boys being raised in the jungle by the animals (Tarzan, The Jungle Book, etc.) It tells the story of heiress and ahead-of-her-time travel vlogger named Ursula venturing into the wilds of Africa. Her abhorrent fiance Lyle (Sandman from Spider-Man 3)  attempts to get her to return home, but Ursula continues her trek in the wilderness, where she encounters the “white ape” George - an oddly clumsy, but athletic and sincere man - raised by the denizens of the jungle, who saves her from a lion. They bond in George’s treehouse after the rescue.

When Ursula’s guides and Lyle encounter the pair, through a mixup involving a gun-shaped lighter, Lyle accidentally shoots and injures George.

Ursula immediately takes George home to the states to care for his injuries, and there is a huge culture clash when George tries to adapt to his current surroundings.

Despite being in love with Ursula, George is persuaded by Ursula’s horrible mother to go back to the jungle, and Ursula pursues to tell him she loves him.

In the meantime, Lyle has somehow gained control of a radical organization and attempts to come between the two and force Ursula to marry him after all, but is ultimately foiled and we close on a scene of George and Ursula together in the jungle with their clumsy (like his father) son.

    Film Trivia –

All of the gorillas living with George were Jim Henson puppeteers in specialized suits

Brendan Fraser’s personal trainer brought a suit against him for not crediting him...and lost.

When George is interacting with the horses at Ursula's parents' party, the woman who wishes she could find a man like him is Brendan Fraser's girlfriend and future wife, Afton Smith.

It was after seeing this film that director Stephen Sommers considered Brendan Fraser for the role of Rick O'Connell in 'The Mummy' (1999)

“Feature Film” – Big Hero 6

    Synopsis

Hiro Hamada is a 14-year-old high school graduate and robotics genius living in the futuristic city of San Fransokyo who spends much of his free time participating in illegal robot fights. To redirect Hiro, his older brother Tadashi takes him to the research lab at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, where Hiro meets Professor Robert Callaghan, the head of the university's robotics program. Amazed, Hiro decides to apply to the university.

To enroll, he signs up for the school's showcase and presents his project: microbots, swarms of tiny robots that can link together in any arrangement imaginable using a neurocranial transmitter. He is accepted to the school but before he can celebrate a massive fire suddenly breaks out in the showcase hall and Tadashi rushes in to save Callaghan, the only person left inside. The building explodes moments later, killing both.

Later, a depressed Hiro, in mourning for Callaghan's and Tadashi's death, inadvertently activates Baymax, the inflatable healthcare robot that Tadashi created. The two find Hiro's only remaining microbot and follow it to an abandoned warehouse. There they discover that someone has been mass-producing the microbots, and are attacked by a man wearing a Kabuki mask who is controlling them. After they escape, Hiro suspects that the fire that claimed his brother may not have been accidental and in fact started by the man in the kabuki mask to cover the theft of the microbots.

    Film Trivia – IMDB

According to Scott Watanabe, the movie is set in an alternate future where after the 1906 earthquake, San Francisco was rebuilt by Japanese immigrants using techniques that allow movement and flexibility in a seismic event. After the city was finished being rebuilt, it was renamed San Fransokyo due to it being a city with Japanese and American architecture combined.

The production team watched videos of fire ants as an inspiration of the movement of the Microbots.

Although it is based on a Marvel comic of the same name, there are lots of changes to the names, the setting, the ethnicities of characters, the back stories, and several plot points.

While designing Baymax's super-suit, there is a drawing resembling the top half of Iron Man's helmet.

Like the Marvel movies, this film also has an end credit scene, although this movie is not connected with the same Cinematic Universe as the other current Marvel movies The end credit scene features Stan Lee as Fred’s Dad.

    ●     “Feature Film” – The Good Dinosaur

    ○     Synopsis

    ■     Luckily for young Arlo, his parents (Jeffrey Wright, Frances McDormand) and his two siblings, the mighty dinosaurs were not wiped out 65 million years ago. When a rainstorm washes poor Arlo (Raymond Ochoa) downriver, he ends up bruised, battered and miles away from home. Good fortune shines on the frightened dino when he meets Spot (Jack Bright), a Neanderthal boy who offers his help and friendship. Together, the unlikely duo embark on an epic adventure to reunite Arlo with his beloved family.

    ○     Film Trivia – IMDB

    ■     The Good Dinosaur (2015) experienced multiple production issues. The film was in production for six years and it suffered from creative differences, story problems, Pixar multitasking between film productions, and a quality slump the studio suffered from Cars 2 (2011) to Monsters University (2013). Director Bob Peterson was removed from the project in the summer of 2013, just under a year before the film's original release date in May 2014. Peterson moved on to another project, while John Lasseter, Lee Unkrich, Mark Andrews, and Peter Sohn stepped in temporarily to work on various sections of the film. In November 2013, due to further delays, Pixar laid off sixty-seven employees of its twelve hundred-person workforce, following the closure of its satellite studio in Canada a month before, when about eighty employees had been laid off, officially to refocus Pixar's efforts at its main headquarters. "For Pixar, it was a dramatic event", said Jim Morris, the studio's General Manager and Executive Vice President of Production. "It was tough on the company. Most studios would have said, 'The movie's fine. It's not bad.' And it wasn't bad; it just wasn't great. We wanted to have a great movie." On October 21, 2014, Peter Sohn was officially named the new director. The story was then re-worked, and some major changes included lowering the age of the protagonist and adding the concept of nature itself being the main antagonist. While John Lithgow still remained cast as Poppa in the film (he would later be replaced), he acknowledged the fantastic changes in the script and said that "(The film's) gonna be better than I ever imagined."

    ● “Feature Film” – Tinker Bell (Video 2008)

    ○ Born from a baby’s laugh and carried by the wind to Pixie Hollow in Neverland, Tinker Bell learns she is destined to be a Tinker fairy. She hears all about the amazing things the nature fairies get to do to bring spring to the mainland and is excited to go see it. Using her talent she creates devices she intends to take to the mainland to help her fellow fairies. Upon learning the upsetting news that tinker fairies do not go to the mainland, she asks her friends to teach her their nature talents, hoping she can go. None of her attempts are successful and she seeks Vidia (a fast-flying/wind fairy) for help and she purposefully sabotages Tinker Bell. The situation quickly turns into chaos, ruining the preparations the other fairies have made, preventing spring from coming on time. When Tinker Bell confesses her fault in the destruction to Queen Clarion, Vidia accidentally lets it slip that she put Tinkerbell in the situation to begin with. Tinker Bell takes initiative and invents things to help speed up production so spring can start on time. These things are successful and the fairies disembark for the Mainland. Fairy Mary, the leader of the Tinker fairies, discovers the music box Tinker Bell repaired and suggests that she go to the mainland to return it to the little girl who lost it. Tinker Bell gets her wish to go to the Mainland and returns the music box to a little girl who turns out to be Wendy Darling.

    ○ Mae Whitman – Tinker Bell, Kristin Chenoweth – Rosetta, Raven-Symone-Iridessa, Lucy Liu-Silvermist, America Ferrera-Fawn, Jesse McCartney – Terence.

    ○ 6 films in the series

    ■ Tinker Bell, Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure, Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue, Secret of the Wings, The Pirate Fairy, Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast

    ○ Film Trivia – IMDB

    ■ The first Disney film to feature Tinker Bell in a speaking role

    ■ Sold 668,000 copies in its first day of DVD release, about 22% more than expected.

    ■ As a marketing tie-in with Southwest Airlines, a Boeing 737 was decorated and named "Tinker Bell One". Flight attendants wore fairy wings and awarded prizes to passengers in a Tinker Bell trivia competition.

    ■ The movie was considered to be around 80% finished when Pixar merged with Disney. Pixar's John Lasseter demanded significant changes to the plot of the movie. The original version was set in a London where Never Land had disappeared and all children had lost their imagination. The movie would have ended with the fairies going to see a band called "The Pixies Chicks".

    ■ The song that plays on the ballerina music box that Tinkerbell delivers to young Wendy, is actually the song "You Can Fly" which is featured in Disney's Peter Pan.

    ●     “Feature Film” – Tarzan 2

    ○     As Tarzan is growing up with Kala, he struggles to fit in and to keep up. He and Terk play games involving the mythical monster “the Zugor”, which will definitely not come back later in the movie.

As the band of Gorillas led by Kerchak is travelling, Tarzan is once again unable to keep up and falls down a ravine. Kala is unable to reach him, and is devastated. Tarzan actually is able to save himself, but overhears other gorillas saying it was probably for the best that he had died, so he runs away.

After running away, Tarzan makes his way to “The Dark Mountain”, where he is found by two gorilla brothers and their controlling mother, Mama Gunda. They tell him that they can’t leave because they are trapped by the Zugor.

Tarzan finds out by accident that the Zugor is a solitary silverback, who pretends to be a monster to defend himself. He agrees not to tell anyone if Zugor will let him stay and will help him find out what he is. After a long series of tests, they come to the overwhelmingly corny conclusion that Tarzan is not an ape, and is, in fact “A TARZAN!” just as Kala finds out that Tarzan did not die and comes to find her boy. Zugor marries Mama Gunda for some reason.

    ○     Film Trivia - IMDB

    ■     won a DVDX Award for Best Original Score (in a DVD Premiere Movie)

    ●     “Feature Film” – Frozen 2 - Wikipedia

    ○     King Agnarr of Arendelle tells a story to his young children, Elsa and Anna, that their grandfather, King Runeard, established a treaty with the tribe of Northuldra by building a dam in the Northuldra's homeland, the Enchanted Forest. However, a fight occurs, resulting in Runeard's death. The battle enrages the elemental spirits of earth, fire, water, and air of the forest. The spirits disappear and a wall of mist encases everyone in the forest. Runeard's son Prince Agnarr barely escapes with the help of an unknown savior.

    ○     Three years after her coronation,[b] Elsa celebrates autumn in the kingdom with Anna, Olaf the snowman, Kristoff the ice harvester, and Kristoff's reindeer Sven. When Elsa hears a mysterious voice calling out to her, she follows it and unintentionally awakens the elemental spirits, which forces everyone in the kingdom to evacuate. Grand Pabbie and the Trolls colony arrive to Arendelle and Pabbie informs that they must set things right by discovering the truth about the kingdom's past.

    ○     Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven embark to the Enchanted Forest, following the mysterious voice. After the mist parts at Elsa's touch, the air spirit, in the form of a tornado, appears and sweeps everyone in its vortex. Elsa stops it, forming a set of ice sculptures. The sisters discover the sculptures are images from their father's past and that their mother, Queen Iduna, was a Northuldra who saved Agnarr. They encounter the Northuldra and a troop of Arendellian soldiers who are still at conflict with one another before the fire spirit appears. Elsa discovers the spirit to be an agitated magical salamander, and calms it down. Elsa and Anna form a truce between the soldiers and the Northuldra by explaining that their mother was Northuldran and their father was Arendellian. Elsa later learns the existence of a fifth spirit who will unite people and the magic of nature.

    ○     Elsa continues to head north with Anna and Olaf, leaving Kristoff and Sven behind. They find their parents' shipwreck and a map with a route to Ahtohallan, a mythical river told by their mother to contain all explanations of the past. Elsa decides to travel alone while sending Anna and Olaf away to safety. Elsa encounters and tames Nokk, the water spirit who guards the sea to Ahtohallan. Reaching Ahtohallan, Elsa discovers that the voice was the call of Iduna, and that her powers were gifted by the magic of nature because of Iduna's selfless act of saving Agnarr, making Elsa the fifth spirit. Elsa then learns that the dam was built as a ruse to reduce the Northuldra's resources because of Runeard's dislike of the tribe's connection with magic, and that Runeard was the one who initiated the conflict by killing the leader of the Northuldra. Elsa sends this information to Anna before becoming frozen, due to venturing into the most dangerous part of Ahtohallan, which in turn causes Olaf to fade away.

    ○     Anna receives Elsa's message and concludes that the dam must be destroyed for peace to be restored. Anna finds and awakens the sleeping gigantic earth spirits, and lures them towards the dam, which is destroyed by boulders hurled by the giants. Elsa thaws out and returns to Arendelle, stopping a flood from the destroyed dam. As the wall of mist disappears, Elsa reunites with Anna and resurrects Olaf. Kristoff proposes to Anna, who accepts. Elsa explains that she and Anna are now the bridge between the people and the magical spirits. Anna becomes the new Queen of Arendelle, while Elsa becomes the protector of the Enchanted Forest who regularly visits Arendelle as peace is restored in all the lands.

    ○     In a post-credits scene, Olaf visits Elsa's ice palace and tells Marshmallow and the Snowgies[c] about the events he experienced.

    ○     Film Trivia - IMDB

    ■    Young Elsa is voiced by Mattea Conforti, who portrayed Young Anna in the Broadway adaptation of Frozen.

    ■    In the beginning when young Anna and Elsa are playing with snow figurines, a figure resembling Baymax from "Big Hero 6" can be spotted in addition to one resembling Totoro from "My Neighbor Totoro”

    ■    In a flashback, Prince Agnar says he's reading a book by "some new Danish author." This is probably an allusion to Hans Christian Andersen, whose fairy tale, "The Snow Queen," inspired the plot of the original film.

    ■    Since Elsa was never barefoot in the original movie, the animators didn't bother giving her toes then. They had to remodel her feet with toes for the sequel.
