Today’s guest tells her love story for Ireland, the man who kindly gave her and her travel companion a lift, and the very special craft business that they have developed together.
On today’s podcast I chat with Sabine Lenz from Germany who tells that fascinating story, how she first met Len, bringing an old derelict ruin of a cottage back to life in a beautiful West Cork location and how they raised a family together.
They also turned a craft jewellery making hobby into the hugely successful brand, Enibas, with two stores in West Cork, stockists throughout the country and a thriving online store.

I am heartbroken to hear about the passing of my friend Micheál Sheridan of the Mercy Hospital Foundation.
We hadn’t been in touch for quite a while and despite the connected world we live in today I had never realised that he was sick.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends and I hope they will take some comfort from the huge difference he made to so many when he was with us.
Micheál was one of the very early guests of the Win Happy podcast and this is the recording of our conversation back in October 2018.
Micheal, you total gentleman, we will miss you.

On today’s podcast I chat with Andrew Dewar the serial entrepreneur, Thetahealer and co-founder of Five Year You.
Andrew, who grew up with a sister with severe autism, lived in a constant state of stress and the very worst nearly happened when she actually tried to kill him.
This traumatic experience had a huge impact on his life and it is only in the last few years after much therapy that he has rediscovered the real Andrew,
Inspired by his own transformation, he co-founded Five Year You, whereby people are helped to create the version of themselves that they wish to be.
This conversation was very personal for both of us.

Running your own business for 20 years is a fantastic achievement.
When you run your own business and Covid throws a huge spanner in the works and you decide to grab that “opportunity” to emigrate to the United States with two children while pregnant, people might think you were nuts!!
On today’s podcast I chat with the co-founder of Eazy City and EZC Study Abroad, Julia Lynes who has done exactly that.
Speaking from her home in Florida, Julia share her personal and business story including the challenge of running a business from a different continent and how she will be celebrating the 20 year milestone this year.

In a way Valerie was her own first client as she took her own career direction into her own hands and stopped what she was doing to go out on her own.
“It’s not worth it to be miserable” she says, and as a career coach she helps people who might be stuck in a rut to make the necessary changes and end this misery.
We chatted about her own colourful life and career, and why she called her own business after a special character in her favourite Christmas Movie!

As we approach the two year anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, I welcome back the journalist and founder of Lifeline Ukraine, Paul Niland to the Win Happy podcast.
Make no mistake, this is a brutal war with endless, pointless suffering and Paul, an Irishman who has been living in Kyiv for 21 years, tells us the story of the last two decades and how he sees things going right now.
Ukraine needs all of the help that it can get to defeat Putin and in the meantime we need to support all of the Ukranians who are living in Ireland and elsewhere, during their ongoing nightmare.
While things are beyond tough, Paul says the Ukrainian spirit is strong and it will prevail and they will be celebrating a victory against Putin’s Russia one day.
I hope you enjoy the show.

On today’s podcast I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with Gwendolyn Masin, concert violinist, educator and director of the GAIA Music Festival in Switzerland.
She is the fourth generation of family musicians, she started playing piano at the age of three, she was given a violin for her fifth birthday and at the age of six she performed in her first concert.
Gwendolyn has lived all over the world, she works tirelessly seven days a week, and to perform at this level she must work as hard on her fitness as she does on her craft.
Not only did I learn about the amount of pain that musicians such as Gwendolyn have to endure for their craft, but I also learnt that she is as much a talented creator and entrepreneur as she is a musician.

On today’s podcast I chat with the retired owner of O’Sullivans Bar in Crookhaven in West Cork, where you can enjoy the most southernly pint in Ireland.
Billy O’Sullivan, 86 years young, ably assisted by his granddaughter, Alex, chats about his life and career and the story of the pub which has been in the family name for nearly 91 years.
He chats about Crookhaven with a population of just 37 people and how it has changed from being a sleepy rural village to the popular holiday spot enjoyed by so many each summer.
The cameras were in Crookhaven in 1961 for the movie, ‘I Think a Fool’ and they were back again many years later because Billy was the last person to have spoken to Sophie Toscan du Plantier the night before she was murdered.

Paul Niland an Irishman has been living in Kyiv for over 20 years - he is the founder and CEO of Lifeline Ukraine.
Daryna Hruzdieva was forced to leave her home in Kyiv with her family because of the war and she has been living and working in Ireland since March 2022.
I asked them both to chat about the challenges of Putin’s pointless war and in particular how they are feeling about another war time Christmas.
Putin must be stopped and the free world must provide everything that Ukraine needs to make this happen as soon as possible and in doing so, make the world a safer place for everyone.
