We pulled an audible In The RACK today!! Instead of a workshop that we had planned, we decided to do an IG Live Q&A with Chad, Nick and Hayden. Prior to our IG Live we put out a poll asking what people wanted us to talk about.

We did get a good amount of questions from some of our patients and followers ranging from cardio, diet and nutrition after the age of 40, stretching techniques as well as a couple of questions surround our model here at ProForm.

We certainly could have answered more questions, however it was getting late considering we started at 6pm 😂

We did have fun answering these questions. Make sure to listen to the end as there are a lot of hidden gems in this one. If you like the IG Live Q&A then let us know as we would be happy to continue these going forward.

In this Episode Chad and Nick along with Karyssa meet up with Derek Morgan. Derek is the general manager of the gym behind our facility called Choice Fitness. If you are local then you may be familiar with other gyms that is has been in the past. Previous to Choice Fitness, it was known as Boston Sports Club (BSC), Latitudes, and even before that it started as a Gold’s Gym.

We have known Derek over the last 2 years since Choice Fitness has moved in and we are very grateful for all of the changes that they have made. The way that BSC left it was unacceptable and still leaves a sour taste in people’s mouths. Choice Fitness has not only created a better community environment over there, but they have also been making a lot of changes to best benefit their members.

Dr. Chad has been a member of all of the gyms it has been and we will say that this gym is probably in the best condition that it has been in years. Not to mention that they have adapted to the times of today and offer strength and conditioning types of training as well as boxing classes. We are impressed with their progress over the last 2 years and continue to look forward its evolution.

For more information about Choice Fitness, visit their website or check out their Instagram. If you do decide to stop by then make sure to tell them that you heard about them from our podcast episode and receive a FREE week pass to their club.

This podcast episode is a special one and followed our most recent breathwork and cold exposure workshop that we had at our facility ProForm Physical Therapy. In this episode Dr. Nick and Karyssa  conduct an exclusive interview with Danny Massa and Frannie Marin from Survivor season 44. Danny and Frannie ran this workshop for us and we not only had an amazing time, but we had over 30 people in attendance.

Breathwork and cold exposure is all the rage right now, but until you actually have someone coaching you through it then it can be hard for some to understand and feel the benefits of the breathwork and how to appropriately apply it in a physically and mentally challenging environment.

Danny and Frannie make an unbelievable team compliment each other well. Danny brings the energy and has a great way of explaining how to execute the techniques of proper breathwork and its application to real life scenarios. Frannie has an amazing background in research and is able to break down the reasoning as to how this breathwork is working on a physiological level.

In addition to diving into breathwork and cold exposure we learn a little more about Danny and Frannie on a personal level as well as some of their experiences on Survivor. We also talk about the the vision that both Danny and Frannie have in store following their season 44 journey. It is not only very inspiring, but it is going to help so many people in the process. Danny and Frannie are both genuine individuals that we all have had the pleasure to meet and hang with. We look forward to the Season 2 of Breathwork and Cold Exposure with Danny and Frannie!

To learn more about Danny Massa you can check out his instagram at breatheinwithdanny. You can also learn more about Danny’s business, Breathe In With Danny at his website, https://breatheinwithdanny.com/ or you can check out his YouTube Channel.

Today Dr. Chad and Dr. Nick would like to introduce Dr. Michael Mayr, DMD, MA, AIAOMT to the podcast. Dr. Mayr is a dentist and is part of a holistic dental practice in Boston called Harmony. Biologic dentistry is very interesting and Dr. Nick has taken on this journey on over the last year or so.This subspecialty of dentistry goes beyond just dentistry itself. Reducing the amount of toxicity in the body, especially mercury is a focus for sure as well as minimizing fluoride usage and exposure.

Dr. Mayr and the Harmony team follow the  International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology (IAOMT) amalgam removal protocols and promote overall health and wellness by:

Implementing mercury-free and mercury-safe protocols and procedures

Creating an environment that promotes minimal fluoride usage

Educating proper nutrition to prevent and reverse dental disease

Eliminating toxins from dental materials and processes

We dive a little into the profession of dentistry and how it has been evolving over the years as well as Harmony's recent shift away from the insurance-based model. Apparently, insurance is just as bad with dentistry as it is with physical therapy.

If you have been considering a holistic approach to dentistry or want to learn more about it then this episode will be worth the listen!

Dr. Chad and Dr. Nick are excited about this episode as we have another great guest speaker with us. Today we are talking with a physical therapist by the name of Justin Farnsworth. Justin was in town with us last week when we recorded this podcast as we hosted the PPSC certification course. PPSC stands for Pain-Free Performance Specialist Certification and Justin was our instructor.

In this episode of In The Rack Podcast we dive into the many issues within the medical and PT professions. It is courses like the PPSC that make good PTs great as well as give them the tools to be prepare their patients and clients for LIFE!!

We as PTs tend to under-load our patients. This is not emphasized in our graduate schooling and is up to us as the providers to become educated on how we can best help our patients and clients.

Not every physical therapist can be good trainer...Even though some may say otherwise. But if PTs can have a better understanding of strength and conditioning principles as well as how to apply them, then this can make for an unbelievable practitioner.

We also talk about our vision for the future of physical therapy and what we need to do as a profession to make that vision a reality.

Dr. Chad and Dr. Nick bring you a special episode today about a particular topic that might be a little uncomfortable for some people to hear. Not only does it need to be said, but if you are one of those people that feels uncomfortable with this topic then you are the type of person that actually needs to listen to this one.

The topic of today is a good way to end 2022 and start 2023. Its the topic of health shaming with an emphasis on respecting your own health as we dive into 2023. We also dive into some tips to help you navigate the upcoming holiday.

In 2022, we saw so many people in our community make huge strides on their health journey, and we certainly want to keep this rolling… However, in 2022, we also witnessed a culture that criticizes and shames you for giving unhealthy people a hard time, yet it “is totally fine” to make fun of people for “being healthy” by doing the boring small behaviors with pristine consistency.

There is a double standard in our culture, especially in the US. We are told to be okay with your body, no matter what! But this discounts the reality that one’s current weight/body fat content could very well indicate diminished poor metabolic health!! This is NOT OK!!!

It is one thing to be mentally stable with where you’re at and have plans in place to make strides toward a healthier you. We cannot continue on this train of “be okay in your own skin” if that means you’re continuing to live an unhealthy life!

Ultimately, we want people to respect their health in 2023!

We are NOT saying...go body shame people for being overweight! We want people to optimize their health. We want you to thrive, not just survive during your lifetime!!

Unlike the story of the Sandersen Sisters in Hocus Pocus…These Stories are real. And in my opinion makes them even more scary.

I know Dr. Nick has a scary story of a foot patient that can be very relatable to a lot of you.
Karyssa talks about her journey of when she had her gallbladder removed.

Dr. Chad on the other hand is going to talk about the scary story regarding the testosterone epidemic that men are facing in our modern day society.

Dr. Chad and Dr. Nick bring you a special episode today about some things that we could do better with raising our children in modern day society. In the end it is on us as parents to make sure that we establish the right environment for our children to thrive in. We all want to be the best parents for our children and that can starts with us taking responsibility for their health.

Dr. Nick is a new dad to a beautiful son and gives his take on the journey that both him an his wife have been through over the last year. Dr. Chad has older children and gives his perspective on what he has implemented over the last 10 years.

Dad's...you don't get a pass on the health of your child. Yes...Your nutrition and quality of your health will impact the development of your child. This is not just on your wife!!

Many of the topics that we will cover in today's episode will include:

Prenatal VitaminsModern Day Food (seed oils, micronutrients, environmental factors)Toxin ExposuresClothingNatural Cleaning AgentsAir PurifiersWater FiltersFood Storage (Plastics)Wi-Fi (EMFs)Red Light TherapyFood/Environment Exposures (as it relates to sensitivities and allergies)Modern Medicines...And Much More!!

We all inherently have parental instincts!!

    - WE HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR MILLIONS OF YEARS -

However, the modern world and culture blocks that intuition sometimes. Go with your gut, weigh the risks and benefits, and make the choice that is right for you, your baby and your family.
