What if your child asked "What is truth?" or "What does it mean to be human?" Those are deep questions and Elizabeth Urbanowicz - the founder of FoundationWorldview.com and host of "The Foundation Worldview" podcast says the answer is in her approach to helping parents instruct kids through Biblical strategies. For Christian parents, not only knowing what you believe but also knowing why you believe it is important. But it's also how you steer your kids to believe it as well in an increasingly secular and hostile world. It's a lot easier when you know where to start and Elizabeth tells the Stigalls how today.

Bob Vander Plaats is perhaps the state of Iowa's biggest political "influencer." As the President and CEO of The Family Leader, Bob is known as a cultural force for strengthening families and encouraging churches to get involved in government to impact real, legislative change. Together he and Governor Kim Reynolds launched a strategic mission to target recalcitrant members of the Iowa legislature on advancing school choice and they won. Today, Iowa is one of twelve states to pass sweeping school choice legislation allowing families across the state access to the education of their choice, no longer bound by a zipcode. Hear Bob's inspiring personal story, and how he has led one of the most impactful cultural, spiritual, and legislative shifts in his state's recent history.

The Stigalls often speak with folks who are on the ground floor of starting a new adventure in Christian education. But sometimes we forget - there are many who've been doing Christian school at a high level of excellence for decades. That is the focus of today's episode. For twenty-seven of Covenant Christian High School's thirty years in existence in Indianapolis, Indiana, Dr. Andy Goodwin has served as their principal. He also hosts his own podcast called "Transforming Lives."
What has he learned about the challenges and rewards of a Christian school growing and expanding to the size of what many would consider a "traditional" public high school while maintaining the focus on the Kingdom?

We love meeting out-of-the-box problem solvers who see a need for their families and others' educations and take action. Meet the Dunns, founders of Acts Academy. With a background in business and teaching who, like so many bailed on their kids' public school during the pandemic and struck out on their own, the Dunns' story is a fun ride.
Their success was rapid. Their creativity and solutions to growth are lessons for anyone who's thinking of starting their own Christian school in their community. It's important from time to time to remember what your rights are as a taxpaying citizen in your public school district. If you're someone who's yet to "make the leap" to a different education for your kids, or you're just a concerned citizen about the direction of the schools in your community - this is your show. Ian Prior is a senior advisor at America First Legal and author of "Parents of the World Unite." In a world of school boards run amok, Ian reminds us that you have every legal right and obligation to make your voice heard at school board meetings. Further, school board members should answer to you, not to the school district's attorneys.

Chris and Christine depart into a news of the week show where they discuss the shocking story out of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania in the North Penn School District. Parents and citizens are outraged as a massive cover-up of a brutal attack is perpetuated by both media and their school board. Hear Chris interview one parent so upset she's ready to "make the leap" and an average citizen in the community with no children boldly stands up and speaks out at the local school board meeting. Plus, a discussion of the Biden administration's decision to re-write Title IX and an uplifting interview with actor, author, and now children's TV host Kirk Cameron.

It's not a surprise that Christian and conservative girls and young women find the outside world hostile to their point of view, particularly in higher education. Karin Lips founded the Network of Enlightened Women (enlightenedwomen.org) because she came up in college understanding traditional women felt driven underground, keeping their world view hidden from classroom discussion, clubs, and more. Read Karen's book "You're Not Alone - The Conservative Woman's Guide to College."

You've likely heard the stories of after school clubs like the "Satan Club" popping up in some school districts after successful court fights. Chris and Christine talk with a Christian man who says we shouldn't fret or fear this development. He's created the antidote and it's called Lifewise Academy.
Their mission is to expose as many kids to the Gospel during the public school day as they can. Yes, you read that right. The PUBLIC school day. It's something you can do in your own community with ease, but just be careful. You might be surprised at how quickly the success of your club grows!

One of the issues Christine and Chris hear repeatedly as Christian school growth explodes is, "What are Christian schools doing to accommodate my child with learning, physical, or emotional challenges?" Lorraine Hewitt is the Superintendent of Dominion Ridge Academy and the creator of the Center for Cognitive Formation. Lorraine doesn't believe there's any reason Christian schools, big or small, established or brand new can't meet all families where they are in their children's differentiated learning.
She's so passionate about the subject, that she's created an instructional template and travels the country showing how to lead the way at a time when so many students and families of all kinds are looking for alternatives to the public school system.

What happens when a Virginia public school teacher feels she can no longer deal with the cultural darkness swallowing her school and classroom? Meet Dennita Miskimen, founder of The Little Red Schoolhouse in rural Virginia.
This is a powerful story of one woman's quest to introduce elementary school kids to a life on the farm, bathed in nature. She believes deeply this is the way forward to teach kids all they need to know to be fully educated, but also be truly self-sufficient. Right down to growing and harvesting their own food! Dennita's enthusiasm for educating and her love of the Lord will inspire you. By the way, the entire interview is conducted while twenty-one of her elementary students sit in with her, enjoying their lunches. This is a fun episode!

Chris and Christine took the show on the road for their first visit to the National Religious Broadcasters Convention. This event features thousands of folks in the Christian media space. Since Making the Leap is all about parents exploring Christian school, we thought there'd be no better place to meet people who value the movement as much as we do. Even former president Donald Trump made an appearance and you'll hear his support for school choice and non-woke politics in schools and women's sports!

This show may not be for every Christian school parent, but it impacts every Christian school family and certainly every Christian school operator. Whether we like talking about it or not, yes, it's a show about money. Meet professional donor development coach Cyra Lohman.
Chris and Christine explore how successful Christian schools plan, communicate, strategize, and envision a future of long term growth and financial stability beyond simply discussing how many students are paying tuition. How do you get real buy-in from parents, extended families, and even strangers to keep your mission field of Christian education thriving beyond this moment in time?

You might remember an episode last year in which a young pastor arrived at a new church and felt an immediate call to turn his empty church facility during the week into a Christian school. It was certainly a "leap" for the pastor, his wife and their older, retired congregants.
Now, with one year under his belt Chris and Christine ask - "Did it work? What should people know if they want to try it? How did God provide and move in this?"
WARNING: If you've been on the fence about starting or joining an upstart Christian school - Pastor Luke is likely going to convince you it's time to "Make the Leap."

Chris and Christine take some time in today's episode to comb through some education headlines that have recently caught their attention.
Is your public school spending money on a software called "Kooth?" A representative in Pennsylvania is warning parents to keep watch. Then, teachers unions in some states are aggressively advocating for doing away with Praxis exams for new teachers. What are they, and is this a good idea? Plus, the migrant crisis is now spilling into large metro public schools.

As Chris and Christine consider their Christian high schooler's next steps in education, they have a fascinating conversation with the founder of California-based Hildegard College -- Dr. Matthew Smith. Find out what he says makes Hildegard a fresh way to think about a Christian higher education. A way of learning he says is unlike virtually any other large, established Christian university in the country.
