The University of Colorado alums will likely be watching the New York Giants during the opening hour of the NFL Draft.
That’s because the Buffalos have two high-profile players–quarterback Shedeur Sanders and receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter—who can be taken within the first three selections, the third of which is held by the Giants.
All three of these teams–the Titans and Browns being the other two–are seeking a future quarterback. Sanders appears to be the consensus second-rated quarterback in the class, yet there is much debate over how high he will be taken.
One thing we know for sure is that quarterbacks are always artificially boosted up the rankings because of their importance.
There is little doubt, however, that Heisman Trophy winner Hunter, a dual threat at cornerback and wide receiver, is one of the top talents in the draft. He's likely joining Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter as the best two prospects on most NFL team's boards.
The Giants certainly could use one of the two blue-chip defenders to enhance their improving unit. And there's also no telling how much they might be able to get out of Hunter on offense, depending on how many snaps they are willing to give him at receiver.
At the same time, the Giants' recent deals with veteran quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston don't solve the issue of how they will move forward at the position.
Big Blue Breakdown host Paul Dottino discussed the merits of Sanders and Hunter with Colorado radio play-by-play voice Mark Johnson before taking comments and questions from the fans via chat, audio, and video calls.

New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen said he was seeking a veteran starting quarterback who would make the Giants as competitive as possible to win games this season. He found one who has been to two Super Bowls (with one win), 10 Pro Bowls, and participated in nine postseason runs in Russell Wilson.
The Giants, who do not officially announce transactions until they have a signed contract with the player, acknowledged Tuesday night's reports that they had reached a deal with Wilson pending a physical.
Wilson, 36, came off the bench following an early-season leg injury to win six of his first seven starts with the Pittsburgh Steelers last season. Then, they dropped four straight but made the playoffs before losing in the first round.
Wilson reportedly accepted a one-year deal and will be expected to start ahead of recently signed free agent Jameis Winson and third-stringer Tommy DeVIto. The Giants also could draft a quarterback, although it seems unlikely to happen at third overall.
On this episode of Big Blue Breakdown Live!, long-time NFL offensive lineman Max Starks, the Steelers' current radio analyst, joined host Paul Dottino to discuss this pending transaction with Wilson and what the quarterback may bring to the Giants. Dottino also took comments from the fans via chat, audio and video calls.

New York Giants General manager Joe Schoen went into the offseason on a mission to find better results, armed with a good amount of cap space and high-profile draft slot.
The team proceeded to be very active in the opening stage of free agency. Schoen brought in two high-priced defensive backs and locked up a slew of his less expensive players in order to retain continuity on the depth chart.
It's expected that cornerback Paulson Adebo (Saints) and safety Jevon Holland (Dolphins) will make a big impact on a defense that needed to find a way to better limit big plays.
There was nothing Schoen could do when the Los Angeles Rams pulled star quarterback Matthew Stafford off the market. So the Giants reportedly met with free agent veterans Russell Wilson, Joe Flacco - two quarterbacks who have won a Super Bowl - and former All-Star QB Jameis Winston. But no deals have materialized.
Big Blue Breakdown host Paul Dottino spoke with New Orleans Saints beat reporter Ross Jackson of LouisianaSports.net to get a feel for exactly what to expect from Adebo and how Winston (who was with the Saints from 2000-23) may fit into what the Giants need.

There may be no other way for this to end. The New York Giants needed a veteran quarterback, and their reported attempt to trade for the Los Angeles Rams' Matthew Stafford fell through when he was pulled off the trading block.
So, where else could they turn to find a "Tier 1" quarterback but Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers—two older passers with substantial resumes? After all, the New Orleans Saints reworked Derek Carr's contract to keep him, and the Atlanta Falcons continue to insist that they will retain Kirk Cousins.
Several other teams were in the same boat, and all but the Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers were able to find a palatable resolution to their needs. So now it's down to two players for two spots, and everyone is seemingly waiting for Rodgers to make a decision.
Big Blue Breakdown host Paul Dottino discusses the QB puzzle and gets the Steelers' angle from Chris Mueller of KDKA Radio in Pittsburgh in between fielding comments/questions from the fans.

New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen has a clear starting point for the upcoming season: Find a way for the Giants to win as many games as possible with a veteran quarterback at the helm while trying to set up the team for future success.
It's a narrow needle to thread, especially when third-stringer Tommy DeVito is the only quarterback on your roster.
The Giants reportedly made a strong pitch to acquire former Pro Bowler Matthew Stafford from the Los Angeles Rams, who decided to renegotiate their deal and pulled him off the trade market.
That leaves Schoen with nearly three dozen pending veteran free-agent quarterbacks to choose from, although he could always investigate a trade with someone on another roster.
Team co-owner John Mara also outlined a need to improve the defense and the depth along the offensive line.
Can Schoen find those pieces in free agency, or will he wait until the NFL Draft, where the Giants own seven selections, highlighted by the third overall pick?
Big Blue Breakdown host Paul Dottino sifted through all the possibilities and addressed fans' comments and questions.

One might think that the NFL Draft would dominate the conversation, with well over 320 prospects auditioning for jobs at the Combine in Indianapolis.
Think again. The league's quarterback puzzle was being discussed in all corners of the city, specifically involving the New York Giants
and Los Angeles Rams star Matthew Stafford.
Can the Rams and Stafford reach a revised agreement, or will he be traded? Combine attendees most often mentioned the Giants and Raiders as suitors.
When he spoke to the media on Tuesday, Giants general manager Joe Schoen deferred any questions regarding Stafford to the Rams. But Schoen also admitted, "We're going to look for the best player available to help us win games in 2025."
Stafford could certainly be a quarterback who helps the Giants win some games if he is made available via trade and if the Giants are able to acquire him.
Once Stafford's puzzle is solved, the rest of the league's quarterback carousel of veterans and prospects can begin to spin. It will certainly be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Paul Dottino discussed this chatter during a live broadcast from Indianapolis, the combine site. He also added observations about the Giants' other potential draft targets and answered fans' comments in this very special extended episode of the Big Blue Breakdown podcast.

The NFL's tagging window has opened, and the proposed salary cap appears to be higher than anticipated. How do these factors affect the New York Giants' plans as they begin re-tooling their roster over the next two months?
General manager Joe Schoen understands how important it is for the franchise to show significant improvement this season, and that's why he's likely to explore every possible avenue to achieve his goal.
He's never been shy about entering the trade market, so that's undoubtedly one avenue he may entertain, specifically if he's targeting a quarterback with a significant resume. Schoen also has an estimated $45-50 million in cap space at his disposal to dabble in free-agent waters. And he's got eight draft picks, highlighted by the third overall pick in this year's NFL Draft.
The first order of business is to figure out how much he'd have to pay to retain his pending free agents. The most sought-after players are likely to be receiver Darius Slayton and safety Jason Pinnock, both starters. Neither are of a level to command a free agency tag, but it will cost some money to retain them.
