It’s so valuable to have a superintendent that believes in the mission of preparing kids for their future. Dr. Elizabeth Alvarez is that type of school leader. She has worked with her staff and outside universities to bring STEAM labs and robotics for her students to have access too. She also has an eye on equity and why it is important for traditionally underserved communities to have a spot at the table when it comes to science as well as computer science.

In education, a lot of change happened as a result of the pandemic. Online learning became a powerful option for some students but when the pandemic ended, everyone went back to the previous way of doing school. However, at Denver Public Schools, rather than going completely back to in-person learning, they decided to keep a component of online learning available to their various students.
