We also take a closer look at the underestimated role of toxic load and how that can disrupt both your hormones and your weight loss efforts.

  • Today, we're talking about something that might sound a bit strange at first, but trust me, it's pretty fascinating stuff. We’re talking to Jeff Hoyt about a mineral that’s disrupting the detox world — Zeolite.

If you’re unfamiliar with Zeolite, it’s a mineral that acts like a magnet to attract positively charged particles to it in the body. Think heavy metals like lead, mercury, and aluminum, to name a few. When taken, it pulls in those heavy metals and then binds to them before the body flushes them all away through the liver and kidneys.

The best part? You can take this stuff long-term without worrying about it stealing all your essential nutrients.

So, if you've been feeling like your body needs a bit of a spring cleaning, Zeolite might be worth looking into. Remember, our bodies are incredible machines, but sometimes they need a little help dealing with all the toxins in our modern world.

I’m thrilled to bring you a conversation with Ricardo Miranda, CEO of MTHFRdoctors.com, where we get to nerd out about the MTHFR gene and how much it affects different functions in the body. We dive deep into MTHFR gene mutations, and its significant impact on health conditions like thyroid disease, anxiety, cortisol, and detoxification issues.

We discuss how these MTHFR genetic mutations can be tested, what the results might mean for your health, and practical steps you can take to support your methylation process.

If you’ve been diagnosed with a thyroid condition or are dealing with symptoms like anxiety, brain fog, or insomnia, or simply want to understand your genetic blueprint better, this episode is packed with in-depth explanations behind the correlation between methylation, detoxification, and gene expression.

  • In today's episode of the SHE Talks Health podcast, we’re getting to the bottom of why weight struggles aren’t always about the things we’re eating. I know so many of us struggle with our relationship with food and our bodies. If you've ever felt frustrated, confused, or even hopeless about your eating habits or weight, this episode will offer you some hope and understanding.

I'm thrilled to share my conversation with the incredible Jiordana Sadde, a clinical nutritionist and food psychology expert who knows just how hard our relationship with food can be at times. During our conversation, Jiordana shares her experience with childhood obesity and eating disorders and how she finally found true peace with food.

She helps us understand that our struggles aren't our fault — they often stem from subconscious programming that started in childhood. You'll learn why simply knowing what's "healthy" often isn't enough to change our behaviors, and how our thoughts and emotions profoundly impact our body's response to food. Jiordana's insights might just help you see your relationship with food in a whole new light.

I hope this conversation offers you some comfort and practical steps forward if you’re struggling with food noise, limiting beliefs around food, self-sabotage, or anything that’s keeping you stuck in a frustrating cycle. Remember, your worth is not tied to your weight or what you eat. You deserve peace and freedom around food, and Jiordana is proof that it is possible.

  • Are you frustrated with diets that restrict foods and leave you feeling deprived? What if I told you there's a way to eat that focuses on getting all the essential nutrients you need without cutting out entire food groups? My guest today, Dr. Sarah Ballantyne, is about to reverse everything you thought about eating with her approach called "Nutrivore."

In our conversation, Dr. Sarah dismantles diet dogma and explains why restrictive eating can actually lead to nutrient deficiencies that increase disease risk over time. You'll learn about her "Nutrivore" philosophy that prioritizes nutrient density and sufficiency from all foods rather than demonizing and eliminating certain foods from the diet. She shares practical tools like the "Nutrivore Score" to easily identify nutrient-dense food choices and the "Nutrient Meal Map" for composing balanced, nourishing plates.

Dr. Sarah gets candid about the downfalls of diet culture, including how fear-based marketing perpetuates food myths and restrictive mindsets. Join us to discover why nutrient insufficiency is so widespread and the systemic barriers making it difficult for many to access truly nourishing foods. Whether you have an autoimmune condition, want to optimize your health, or are just sick of restrictive diets, this episode will open your eyes to a flexible, scientifically grounded way of eating for life.

  • If you’ve ever struggled with your metabolism, hunger, cravings, unpredictable weight gain, or basically anything that is related to diet culture, this episode is for you. This week, Jenn Trepeck is joining me to discuss the mind-body connection to our metabolic health and how we can eat to fully support our emotional and physical well-being through food.

We get into how protein and fiber eaten together work wonders for our metabolic health so that we don’t experience such intense swings in our insulin, which can impact our mood, cravings, weight, and so much more. She also tells us how diet culture has given us a lot of unhealthy (and inaccurate) ideas about how we should eat and exercise. The good news — it’s not as complicated to eat well and take care of our bodies as diet culture makes us think.

By balancing our diet with enough protein and fiber, plus incorporating low impact strength training exercises into our lifestyle, we’re supporting all aspects of our health — especially our thyroids and metabolic functions.

This episode is packed with great information and advice for how we can support the full picture of our health with a few simple steps. And the best part is that there are no extremes here — it’s all part of an intuitive and sensible way of living.

To help celebrate our 100th episode, we’re offering $100 off a discovery call with Sophie to learn about the areas of your health you should focus on. Book here! Offer ends 5/31

  • This week, I'm joined by my dear friend and colleague, Carly Loewenthal, to discuss the often overlooked mental and emotional side of healing.

To demonstrate, I open up about a very personal experience where getting "glutened" triggered a traumatic flashback for me. With Carly's guidance through subconscious reprogramming, I was able to release this trigger and experience profound shifts like being able to sleep through the night again and even share a bed with my husband, which had become challenging.

We dive deep into the power of subconscious reprogramming — a tool that helps rewire limiting beliefs and patterns holding you back from being your most authentic self. Carly, a certified life coach and functional diagnostic nutrition practitioner, explains how this work allows you to break free from self-imposed limitations and see new possibilities.

This episode demonstrates how addressing the mental-emotional layers is key for true, lasting healing. You'll learn practical tips on getting grounded during dysregulation and using your imagination to rewrite past experiences lacking resolution.

Whether you're struggling with chronic health issues, anxiety, people-pleasing tendencies or more, this work can empower you to make transformative changes. We invite you to keep an open mind and tune in to learn how subconscious reprogramming could be a game-changer on your healing journey.

  • If you’ve ever eaten a meal and felt immediately drained, fatigued, or brain-fogged, you also probably wondered why those foods made you feel that way — and you’re not alone. Foods affect people so differently, and one of the clearest disparities is in how our blood sugar responds to our lifestyle choices.

With continuous glucose monitoring, it’s easy to get an objective look at our overall health through the lens of our blood sugar. Get too little sleep, and you might notice your blood sugar responding to that. Eat too many carbs without some protein or fat, and you might be spiking more than usual.

It can also help us avoid chronic health issues like insulin resistance (pre-diabetes) and diabetes, or give us insight into how glucose affects autoimmune conditions and other health issues we’re already facing.

No matter what the reason, continuous glucose monitoring gives us valuable information about our health that can help us make informed choices about our diet, sleep, and exercise habits that can keep our overall health and wellness at its peak.

Join me in welcoming Emily Johnson of Veri to learn more about continuous glucose monitoring and how glucose plays a role in every part of our wellbeing.

  • If you have a gluten sensitivity or allergy, you probably are familiar with the less-than-ideal scenario of getting “glutened.” It’s a term I started using to describe when you unsuspectingly ingest gluten and are now in for inevitable symptoms and reactions to what just happened.

When you get glutened, your body will have both a physical and emotional response to it. You might get gluten brain fog, fatigue, digestive inflammation, headaches, and more. But aside from the physical response, it can send you through a whirlwind of emotions like frustration, anxiety, and overall catastrophizing.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. In this episode, I’m recounting a recent moment when I got glutened and didn’t have my usual defense mechanisms on hand to cope. Instead, I doubled-down on managing my emotional response, which allowed me take clearer action to take care of my body.

You’ll learn how I use breathwork, co-regulation, tapping techniques for emotional regulation, and other emotional regulation tools to prevent a bad situation from spiraling into something worse. So if you have a gluten allergy or sensitivity, or could just use some extra stress relief tips, this episode will cover how I manage it, and how you can, too.

  • Everybody has patterns that are part of their programming. They determine how you show up in the world, interact with others, and even make big life decisions. But what most people don’t realize is that these patterns don’t have to control you.

When you become aware of the subconscious patterns and programming that drive you to do what you do, you can regain control over your life and make informed decisions that you are consciously aware of.

Through inner child work and getting to the root cause of trauma, you can begin addressing patterns that are rooted in people-pleasing, perfectionism, or fear. Whether you have old trauma that was rooted in abuse or neglect or some patterns that are no longer serving you coming from childhood or family expectations, inner child work is a great way to begin conscious healing.

Zelina Chinwoh shares with us how we can begin healing from perfectionism, people-pleasing, loneliness, voicelessness, and other subconscious patterns that are rooted in our childhood experiences. When we make the subconscious conscious, we open ourselves up to a world of patience, empathy, growth, and gratitude.

  • With chronic illness and autoimmune disease on the rise, it’s more important than ever to look out for our health. The key to this is in health optimization medicine that focuses on building back the foundations of health that are often lost in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Sleep, hydration, movement, and connection are among a few of the foundations of health that, when cared for regularly, will keep our overall health in check and ensure we can live our lives as healthily as possible. But when our lifestyle doesn’t support these foundations, what can we do.

Dr. Scott Sherr, a board-certified internal medicine physician, developed a solution that will help keep the foundations of health in check while we work on improving our lifestyles incrementally to optimize our health. His company, Troscriptions, created troches (lozenges) that have different purposes to help with adrenaline reduction, immune system optimization, stress relief, mitochondrial stress, and improve nervous system dysregulation.

In this episode, he explains how he got the idea to start this company and the research behind their product that starts with mitochondrial function restoration. If you’re ready to get back to optimal health and love hearing the science behind the solutions, this episode is for you.

  • Why did I take a break and relaunch the podcast? That’s a great question! And I’m here to answer it with the help of my amazing support system who came to celebrate the SHE Talks Health podcast relaunch with me a few weeks ago!

I never intended to have a women’s health podcast, but during the pandemic, this world opened up to me and allowed me to share my message and story with the world. Millions of women struggle with under-diagnosed health issues, and I was one of them. In my early 20s, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s, but only after a long and frustrating experience with the medical system.

Fast-forward to today, I’ve helped many women work through their unexplained health issues, find answers, and finally have the tools for healing that functional medicine can provide. I’ve learned how to help clients address more than just their physical health but to improve their emotional and spiritual well-being, too.

My goal is to get this podcast out to as many women as I can all over the world so they can find the healing and answers they deserve to have. So I hope you join me for the new and improved SHE Talks Health Podcast! I’m happy to have you here.

  • Our bodies have always used the sun to convert light into energy for movement, healing, and restoration. With the increased prevalence of blue light devices in our everyday lives and more indoor-centric lifestyles, it’s becoming harder and harder to get the benefits from the sun that used to come to us naturally.

So how can we heal and restore our bodies if we can’t get enough benefits from naturally occurring infrared light? Brian Richards from Sauna Space has one solution. He created a technology that combines the detoxifying benefits of a sauna, with the restorative benefits of near-infrared (NIR) light therapy. When combined, these two therapeutic methods can bring powerful benefits into our bodies, going as deep as our individual cells.

When using sauna therapy combined with near-infrared light, your body can heal and detox naturally to help bring brain fog relief, ease symptoms of depression and mood disorders, detox free radicals, reset circadian rhythms, and more.

Join us to learn how the near-infrared light therapy benefits can help you on your path to healing and restoration and discover the mental health benefits that combining sweat-light therapy can bring almost immediately.

  • If you’ve ever experienced overwhelm or anxiety in a heated moment, you’re not alone. It can be hard to self-regulate emotions when tensions are high, but if we don’t, it can get stored in the body as trauma.

Luckily, there’s an answer to reducing anxiety that isn’t very commonly known — somatic work. Somatic work helps us name all the parts of ourselves that have a voice that’s begging to be heard. It’s a way to build self-trust, self-regulate emotions, and embody our higher self to reduce anxiety and release trapped emotions.

With the help of Patrick Murphy, this episode will teach you about somatic exercises and different forms of trauma release work like EMDR therapy and give you a somatic work quick start that will get you out of your head and trusting yourself again in no time. It’s not a miracle quick-fix, but it is a mental wellbeing practice that could be the answer that talk therapy or other mental health exercises haven’t been able to provide for you before.

  • We’re used to hearing that whenever we’re injured, rest is the best solution for getting back on our feet as quickly and safely as possible. But what if you have a thyroid condition that’s often combined with hypermobility?

If you’ve been diagnosed with a thyroid condition or suspect you might have one, you might notice that yoga, pilates, and other low-impact stretching style workouts still leave you in pain, yet no more flexible or toned than before. This is because you’re not exercising for Hashimoto’s or hypothyroidism.

In this episode, we’ll explore how to safely exercise with Hashimoto’s or other thyroid conditions that can contribute to more frequent injury. We’ll also discuss what a healthy thyroid diet looks like and why it’s so important to build muscle with Hashimoto’s.

Finally, we’ll get into how mold toxicity can mimic Hashimoto’s symptoms and how to test for it in your home properly before you drop thousands on a mold inspector.

  • I fired my doctor. I know that sounds intense, but it’s true. And it was necessary to take the next step in my thyroid healing journey.

It all started around 10 years ago when I was in my 20s and started experiencing symptoms of hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s. I went to my doctor, got tests done, and promptly went on medication, which helped for a while. But when it stopped working, that’s when I took my healing journey into my own hands.

This is where I discovered functional medicine and found someone who truly listened to my health concerns and took all of my symptoms into account. From there, I started to actually heal my thyroid problems and learn all about the mind-body connection that can sometimes leave us sick and trapped in cycles we aren’t aware of.

And thanks to all of this, I’ve started my own business (and podcast) teaching women how to heal their thyroids through a variety of treatments for both the mind and body. This is where this podcast relaunch begins, and I hope you’ll join me as I share more stories and bring you more guests who are experts in these subjects.

It’s often the simplest things that are so easily overlooked, so it’s important to go back and review some of the root causes and root solutions of any dis-ease or pain within the body.
