In this episode of STAY FEARLESS, we dive into how Proteus Motion is revolutionizing performance testing and training with Sam Miller & Dr. Will Waterman PT, DPT, PRC, OCS, COMT, CSCS. Sam is the CEO and Founder of Proteus Motion and Will is the VP of Human Performance and Customer Success of Proteus Motion and a Doctor of Physical Therapy. If you have not heard of Proteus, they have developed a revolutionary performance testing device and resistance training tool. In this episode we talk about how Proteus is revolutionizing the baseball performance world by allowing coaches and athletes to test multiplanar strength, power, and speed. In this episode of STAY FEARLESS, we dive into learning to trust yourself as both a player and coach with Gabriel Trastoy. Gabe played college baseball at Loyola University New Orleans where he was a mainstay at the catcher position, owning the top 3 spots in the record book for most runners caught stealing in a single season (66% RCS) and the number 1 spot for runners caught stealing in a career. Gabe was a leader for the pitching staff and the best catcher I’ve ever thrown to. He is now an assistant coach at Loyola New Orleans and spent this summer as the head coach of the Boca Beach Boys. In this episode, Gabe shares his insights as he has made the transition from player to coach and how his experiences and mentors have shaped his approach. We talk about building a strong mindset and culture and how important that is for maximizing performance. We also break down Gabe’s experience as a catcher and the importance of strong catcher/pitcher relationships.

In this episode of STAY FEARLESS, we dive into earning respect and creating a winning culture with Jeremy Kennedy. Coach Kennedy played college baseball at Barton County Community College and Dallas Baptist University before beginning his coaching career as an assistant at Dallas Baptist, where he helped the program transition from NCAA Division II to Division I and coached 2016 MLB World Series MVP Ben Zobrist. He then spent seven years at Northwood University in Texas, where he led his program to three conference titles, earning coach of the year honors in each of those seasons. He then spent 3 years at Keiser University and led Keiser to 40-win seasons in each of his 3 years, being named the conference's coach of the year twice while claiming 3 conference championships and 1 NAIA World Series appearance. He is now the head coach at Loyola University New Orleans, one of the top NAIA baseball programs in the country. He led Loyola to a historic program turnaround when he arrived in 2020. He is an exceptional coach and person and Alex was blessed to have played for him during his time at Loyola. In this episode, Coach Kennedy details the three pillars to creating a winning culture: individual player development, acquiring the right guys with high-level talent, and creating a culture of earning respect. He talks about some of the key traits that great players possess, including self-motivation and resilience. He also speaks about many of the things he has learned along his journey, ways he is adapting his coaching philosophy, and new things he is doing to maximize his players’ development both as baseball players and as men.

In this episode of STAY FEARLESS, we dive into player development, pitchability, & coaching with Steven Bruce. Bruce played college baseball at the University of Oklahoma and Keiser University, where he completed his college career as a starting pitcher with a remarkable undefeated 25-0 record. He then went on to play professional baseball for the Texas Rangers organization. He is now the pitching coach at Loyola University New Orleans, one of the top NAIA baseball programs in the country, with which he played an integral role in a historic program turnaround when he arrived in 2020. Bruce is an exceptional coach and person. He brings a strong insight to pitching development and competitive spirit. In this episode, we talk about how player development has changed over the last couple decades and how that looks at each level of play. We talk about the intangibles and how important pitchability is for success. We also talk about Bruce’s approach to coaching, and how he manages building a team culture that prioritizes player development, competitive spirit, and growing the whole person.

In this episode of STAY FEARLESS, we dive into an explorative approach to pitching mechanics and training with Tanner Pruett. Tanner is a pitching coach at MASH in Savage, MN. He pitched collegiately at Modesto Junior College and Crown College. He was invited to spring training for the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League, and after being released dove into player development full time. During this episode, we talk about the way Tanner approaches the development of his athletes’ skills and movement, the difference between East Coast and West Coast baseball, and how players are slowly becoming showcase ballers versus game winners.

In this episode of STAY FEARLESS, we dive into rehab, respecting your craft, & playing college/pro baseball with Andrew Misiaszek. Miz is originally from Long Island, New York and played baseball at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, where he served as the closer. Miz was then drafted by the Cleveland Guardians in the 32nd round of the 2019 Amateur Draft. Since then, Miz has worked his way up to the AAA level where he pitched to a 3.64 ERA striking out over 32% of the batters he faced in 2022, adding a good bit of velocity along the way. He spent the 2023 season rehabbing from Tommy John surgery and is currently closing out his rehab and getting back to full competition. He’s a relentless worker, a constant learner, and a true professional. In this episode Miz talks about his rehab journey, and the lessons he has learned along the way. He talks about what it truly means to be a professional and respect your craft, while also having fun along the way. He also gives his thoughts on how high school athletes should prepare themselves for the next level as well as the differences between high school, college, and pro ball.

In this episode of STAY FEARLESS, we dive into earning respect, building a culture, & leadership with Payton Alexander. Payton played baseball at Loyola University New Orleans where he etched his name all over the Loyola records book during one of the best careers in program history. Those accolades include 2nd in home runs all time, 2nd in RBIs all time, 2nd in runs all time, 2nd in triples all time, 3rd in hits all time, 3rd in stolen bases all time, 7th in doubles all time, and 8th in batting average all time. He also racked up first and second team all conference selections, a conference player of the year award, an All-American Honorable Mention selection, and a Dr. Leroy Walker Champions of Character Award, which is one of the most prestigious awards in the NAIA awarded to the baseball player that embodies core values, athletic achievement, and academic success most successfully in the nation. Now Payton is taking on medical school. During this episode, Payton talks about the culture change that happened at Loyola and how the centerpiece of it was earning our own respect, earning each others’ respect, and earning the respect of our opponents. He talks about his successes and what led him to be successful. He also talks about his role as a leader and how to properly handle that responsibility in a game of failure.

In this episode of STAY FEARLESS, we dive into simplifying training, the lessons of rehab, and sleep/nutrition with Jacob Zibin. Jacob is originally from Langley, British Columbia, Canada and moved to Florida to train at TNXL academy as a junior in high school. He was then drafted by the Cleveland Guardians in the 2022 Amateur Draft as a 17 year old and has been with the Guardians since. He’s currently rehabbing from Tommy John Surgery. Zib is a relentless worker, a constant learner, and an incredible human being. Jacob talked about the importance of building a routine that prioritizes athleticism. He spoke about the importance of tracking metrics and making adjustments along the way while also remaining patient and trusting the process. He spoke about the lessons he has learned in rehab and in professional baseball as well as the importance of sleep and nutrition to maximize performance.

In this episode of STAY FEARLESS, we dive into using psychology and experiences to be successful in baseball with Christopher Bohrer. Chris played JUCO baseball at Miami-Dade College, one of the top JUCO programs in Florida, where he was a corner infielder. Then, he played at Loyola University New Orleans where Chris made the switch to shortstop and was an integral addition to the team during one of the most historic program turnaround seasons in NAIA history. Now, Chris has made the transition to coaching at Downtown Doral Charter High School. In this episode, Chris talks about his experiences growing up in Ecuador and playing for the Ecuador national team, moving to Miami and assimilating to the competitiveness of South Florida baseball, playing JUCO and NAIA baseball for two high level baseball programs, and how all of those experiences built his mindset and approach that allowed him to be successful.

In this episode of STAY FEARLESS, we dive into building a successful mindset & routine, life lessons in baseball, and the psychological struggles of rehab with Allen Dennis. Allen played baseball at Loyola University New Orleans where he etched his name all over the Loyola records book solidifying himself as the best player in program history. Those accolades include 1st in hits all time, 1st in home runs all time, 1st in RBIs all time, 1st in runs all time, 1st in doubles all time, 2nd in triples all time, and 1st in home runs single season. He also racked up multiple gold glove awards, both at first base and third base, and first team all conference selections. Now Allen is onto his next feat as he takes on medical school. Allen is a natural leader, a relentless worker, and one of the best humans and friends I’ve ever known. In this episode Allen shares his college baseball experience and what made him so successful. He talks about the lessons he learned along the way that he has been able to carry through all aspects of life. He also speaks about his rehab journey, the psychological struggles of rehab, and how he got through it.

In this episode of STAY FEARLESS, we dive into culture, performance training, and getting through injury with Brenden Taravella. Brenden is a former Fearless athlete who pitched at Loyola University New Orleans. He is a member of our 90 mph club and holds many places in the Loyola University New Orleans records book including 1st in strikeouts per nine innings single season, 3rd in strikeouts all time, 3rd in saves all time, 3rd in saves single season, 6th in ERA all time, 8th in wins all time, 9th in innings pitched all time, and 10th in ERA single season. Brenden is a fierce competitor, a relentless worker, and an incredible human being. Brenden shared his experiences on how important culture is for a team to win and for individuals to thrive in their performance. He spoke about his experience training with Fearless Sports Performance and his training journey. He also spoke about his experience with injuries and how he overcame them.
