In a world filled with manipulated media sound bites and elusive politician responses, I'm sure many of us can relate to the frustration. On the next episode of Stop Telling and Start Listening, we have a unique guest, Adam Frisch, who ran for a congressional seat in Colorado in the closely contested 2022 election.
Adam is the first politician to accept our invitation, and I'm excited not because I endorse his politics (frankly, I don't even know his views), but because I'm eager to engage in a genuine learning conversation. It's a chance to delve into what he believes, why he believes it, and how those beliefs shape his politics. Even when if we don't see eye to eye, there's an immense opportunity to learn something from him and more about one another.
Join me for an hour of authentic, information-packed dialogue, free from the constraints of two-minute commercial or media sound bites. We'll explore the current political climate, gain insights, and bridge gaps through the power of listening and learning. Don't miss this opportunity to truly understand the people behind the politics.
Tune in to our next episode and let's start the conversation. -

In today's polarized and argumentative climate, many people often get truth and belief confused. The confusion, combined with a determination to win the argument, only increases the frustration in an intense discussion.
These concepts are deeply interconnected and subject to interpretation and individual perspectives. Because the are so closely connected it is easy to fall into an argument as the individuals involved might be discussing a subject from two different perspectives.
It can get even more confusing if someone comes into the discussion from a third point of view often referred to as subjective truths, formed out of personal experience and perspective.
In this episode, I will tackle the challenges associated with arguing from these different perspectives while providing ideas for lowering the tension in these intense polarizing arguments. -
We all have certain subjects or topics that, depending on the participants, are almost guaranteed to lead to an intense discussion. And, I use the term loosely.
Some subjects simply trigger passionate arguments which often result in the engaged parties passionately and rapidly taking sides, fighting from their position, and not really engaged in trying to learn or understand alternative or controversial viewpoints.
Today's lightning rod topic feature a discussion about Palestinian Human Rights Issues.
Before you jump to a conclusion about this episode and all the reasons why you might skip it, I would encourage to reconsider reacting to the topic of the show and make time to participate in a listening and learning exercise.
While my guest will be discussing their passion for addressing human rights issues in the middle east, I will be focused on having an engaged learning conversation to accomplish the following:
1. Understand why this issue is so important to my guest
2. Learn about the challenges and obstacles associated with their mission
3. Explore ways this issue can be adequately addressed beyond the arguing, defending and blaming which defines much of the conversation today.
While some topics or issues elicit intense emotional perspectives, there is always an opportunity to learn more about a subject and the benefits are significant, provided you are able and willing to make the commitment to learn beyond your present beliefs, opinions, and experiences.

It's incredibly important to recognize that trauma is indeed a deeply personal experience. What may be traumatic for one person might not be the same for another. This individual variability makes it even more vital for us to create safe spaces to share our struggles and seek support when needed.
Connecting with others who can provide understanding, empathy, and support can make a significant difference in one's healing journey. Sharing our pain, fears, and vulnerabilities can be a transformative experience, as it helps break the isolation that often accompanies trauma.
The upcoming episode, Resonate Voices: Stopping the Silence, helps address the critical aspect of healing and growth through community and connection.

Values are principles or beliefs that guide our behavior and decision-making.
Staying true to one's stated values is important for maintaining personal integrity and authenticity. It can sometimes be challenging, especially when faced with difficult choices or external pressures.
What do my values say about me?
What are my core values?
How do I live them out?
To what extent am I living in integrity to my values?
What is the impact of me not being consistent to them?
These are all questions ShaRon Rea and I will tackle in this week's episode of Stop Telling and Start Listening on Monday, September 18 at 11AM PT and 2PM ET. -
Time is a commodity - you either invest it or you use it.
Once gone, it cannot be reused, so we need to make the most of the time we have.
For those who say they don't have time, I say find time.
The challenge in finding time, is developing habits and routines that maximize your time and minimize wasting it.
In today's episode, I will talk about forming habits that serve your higher priorities, leverage the resources available to you, and engaging in behavioral shifts which actually help you find more time. -
Finding a balance between financial success and personal fulfillment is crucial for overall well-being. The concept of a soul salary is a thought-provoking way to frame the idea that nourishing your inner self is just as important as pursuing monetary rewards.
Prioritizing your time and energy in alignment with your passions, life purpose, and mission can lead to a more fulfilling and satisfying professional life. It's important to recognize what activities or responsibilities drain you and steal your joy, as these can contribute to burnout and dissatisfaction. Making intentional choices about how you spend your time can have a profound impact on your overall happiness and sense of accomplishment.
For those who might feel out of alignment with their current approach to time management and investment, this episode featuring Jessica Kaskov ([email protected]) offers valuable insights and strategies for recalibrating your priorities and fostering a better balance between personal and professional needs. Tending to your inner well-being is as crucial as pursuing financial success resonates with the idea that holistic success involves both external achievements and internal contentment.
If you're looking for advice or strategies on how to better align your professional pursuits with your passions and values, exploring the podcast episode you mentioned could be a worthwhile investment of your time. -
While I have never really thought about this before, there are multiple ways to listen. People can listen actively, passively, empathetically, critically, and in various other ways depending on the context, their intentions and needs, and the general situation.
Listening differently, depending upon context and situation is a big shift from my blunt, impolite, and less than teaching directive, “just shut up and listen.”
Join ShaRon Rea and I, as we talk about Sonic Intricacy and how we can utilize different forms of listening to engage in learning conversations with others. For ShaRon, this subject is a passion of hers and I am looking forward to learning more about it through our conversation. -
Join host David Cooke for a discussion on personal leadership and the four pillars or principles behind effective personal leadership.
Personal leadership involves taking responsibility for your actions, making informed decisions, and inspiring others through your behavior and values. It's not only crucial for your own growth and success but also impacts how you influence and lead those around you. Effective personal leadership can lead to improved relationships, increased productivity, and a positive impact on both professional and personal spheres of life. -
When intellectuals believe they are right, it's often due to their confidence in the thoroughness of their analysis, research, and understanding of a subject. However, it's essential to maintain humility and openness to consider alternate viewpoints, as intellectual thinking should involve continuous learning and adaptation based on new information and perspectives.
Often it can be difficult to engage in a productive interactive conversation with “superior minded” individuals. As much as I enjoy all conversations, these often are the most challenging for me.
Please join ShaRon Rea and I for a discussion around discovering ways to engage in conversations with highly intellectual, sometimes superior minded individuals. -
Behind the Badge: The other story
Behind the Badge explores the stories, experiences, and challenges as shared by my guest, Korky Vander Ploeg, a retired law enforcement officer with twenty-seven years direct experience.
While we are often exposed to the negative side of law enforcement in our media, we are reminded, there are more than two sides to every story.
In today’s podcast we will delve into the human side of police work and the complexities and challenges few of us have had an opportunity to learn about.
Korky’s insightful and thoughtful perspectives provide just the type of conversation we need to be having when discussing or debating the issues of law enforcement.
Join Korky and I, as we engage in a learning conversation and gain a deeper understanding of the broader issues related to law enforcement, such as police-community relations, police reform efforts, and the ongoing evolution of modern policing practices, as well as provide a honest conversation of the difficulties police officers face as they serve their communities today. - Показать больше
