In our inaugural episode, Dr Mark Ferguson shares his journey from a young goat farmer to the CEO of neXtgen Agri. Mark, with his brother Tim, began farming Angora goats in 1989, learning from local breeders and innovators like Lois and Ian Roberts. This episode walks us through the highs and lows of the mohair industry, including a fascinating foray into the world of goat genetics and fibre production.
In this episode, Mark recounts the purchasing of his first Angora goats with his brothers and how this eventually led to a significant goat breeding herd. He covers the valuable lessons and support from fellow breeders and industry pioneers.
This podcast is focussed on the goat fibre industries, please take the time to suggest guests for the show and interact on the Goat Fibre Gateway. This podcast intends to amplify the voices and stories within the fibre goat community. Please get in touch and contribute your stories, engage with the community, and continue learning.
