  • We are catching up on some hilarious confessions and funny parenting stories that were sent in this week!

First we catch up and have a quick yay vs nay of our weeks – something we are loving and not loving.

Bec’s yay: school holidays are coming (and we are still at the point where this is exciting…)

Bec’s nay: teaching a 5yo to sleep who thinks it’s too ‘boring’

Sam’s yay: we found the mystery smell in the house (we’ve mentioned in a past episode)

Sam’s nay: it was really gross and he had to clean it!

Sam’s dad joke came in threes this week and we had a good laugh. They may be bad dad jokes… but isn’t that what makes them good?

Bec shares another ‘parents in the news’ (or ‘random a*s facts by Bec’ as Sam likes to call it), where she catches us up on funny and odd news from around the world that us parents would find funny. This week we had teachers worried about a shoe stealing, foot fetish motivated thief at a Japanese kindergarten…

Then this parenting podcast gets into what we are really here for – to laugh at the funny stories that happened to real life parents in the thick of parenting.

This week the funny parents and embarrassing stories sent to the confessional include:

A toddler crying over his poop

A parent who’s attempt to explain their dog dying doesn’t go as planned

A hilarious little girl who’s bored of church

A toddler who didn’t get the memo about the pandemic!

A travelling with kids nightmare story

One of our own sneaky stories from this morning before recording!

A dad who left a kid behind

An awkward commentary at a restaurant

And a funny teacher story from a kid who obviously didn’t understand the question!

A huge thank you to the parents of these funny stories! The Unhelpful Parenting Podcast is all about making these ridiculous parenting moments something we realise we all have. It’s not just your kids who do hilarious(ly frustrating and insane) things.

Keep sending in your stories as we laugh through parenting together and check out our other episodes on this funny parenting channel!

  • We asked what the funniest thing your kid has cried over and the answers did not disappoint! From not being allowed to eat from the bin to looking for booger that’s fallen out of their nose – these kids are funny and your parenting stories are hilarious.

The kids weren’t the only ones either – the pregnant mom stories and reasons you’ve cried while pregnant had us in stitches too!

But to start the episode we kick off with our weekly yays and nays.

Bec’s yay: Sam’s turned into a Christmas elf! He loves Christmas now!

Bec’s nay: She tried doing groceries with the 3 kids and has major regrets.

Sam’s yay: The kids are making him love Christmas – the magic is real!

Sam’s nay: There’s not enough room in our house for Christmas stuff now.

Sam’s dad joke is met with a few crickets but that’s what makes a good dad joke right? And just before it gets him in any trouble, we head into parents in the news – or as Sam likes to put it ‘Random ass facts with Bec’.

This week in the off beat, random news we’ve got:

A follow up from swapping babies, with another news story out of Norway where babies were swapped, and the health authorities didn’t say anything when they realised 10+years later, and left it for 60 years before the families discovered it themselves!

A kid in the UK shutting down the school because he brought in a ‘historic incendiary device’ that was a live explosive in for show and tell!

A DNA test that showed mum and dad of 3 kids were actually cousins and never knew!

Then we’ve got the answers to what your kids have cried over. There’s heaps of funny kid stories and a few funny parenting moments!

With toddler meltdowns over not being able to say goodbye before flushing the toilet, to getting a new microwave – most of these reasons for tears had us in tears too!

We finish off with the reasons pregnant moms have cried too – from how beautiful the fireworks are to making sandwiches – the hormones are rough but the stories we get for the podcast are hilarious.

Make sure you keep sending us your funny parent stories for the Christmas and Vacation editions – what’s gone horribly wrong, or hilariously funny over the holidays for you as a parent in years gone by?

  • The confessional is back with 2 hilarious parent stories, plus Bec has more parent news with 2 mind-blowing stories for parents. Then we share the answers you sent to our question: what's the funniest lie your kid has tried to tell you.

To start, we catch up with our weekly yay and nays...

Bec's yay: It's Christmas time! Kids make Christmas magic!

Bec's nay: Our kids hate pizza (are they even our kids?!)

Sam's yay: Our baby is growing up (this is also his nay!)

Sam can't help squeezing in a dad joke and we shake our heads at it all the way into the confessional.

The confessional is a funny parent's dream this week! We've got two stories that are both embarrassing and hilarious!

First: a throwback to the days of Blockbuster and an awkward moment when the church pastor arrived and had an enormous miscommunication thanks to the kid. Second: an honest observation moment from a kid that felt more like an insult.

Bec then has two 'parents in the news' stories - that Sam likes to refer to as 'Bec's random ass facts'. She shares the stories from recent news on the Wicked dolls with an awkward typo on the box, and a baby swapped at birth who found out in the strangest of ways!

Then we've got all your stories in the answers to the question 'whats the funniest lie your kid has tried to tell you?' We've got:

Kids blaming inanimate objects and siblings for their behaviour, telling mum what they have definitely NOT done, uncreative teenagers, and another that didn't realise they were on a shared account.

We finish by putting the call out for the next few weeks.

What is the funniest thing someone has cried over in your house? Kid tantrums, teenage meltdowns, pregnant mom moments - we want to know why you cried!

And then in the lead-up to Christmas - start sending us your Christmas and holiday fail stories! What's your vacation horror story? What's your Christmas horror stories? Or funny moments? The ones that become legend or the little ones that you still remember.

Come back next week for more laughs and make sure you send us some love on socials!

  • Welcome to the new mess-isode! This week we asked ‘what’s the worst mess your kids have made?’ and the answers were as hectic as you’d expect! Plus we’ve got a new segment and other fun and messy parent life laughs.

    Here’s what’s coming…

Starting with our usual yay and nay of the week:

Bec’s nay: Doing a whole week solo while Sam was away for work (when do single parents shower?!)

Bec’s yay: the tuckshop lunch app – again! The disorganised parents lifeline!

Sam’s yay: my kids STILL love me (the card even said so)

Sam’s nay: daylight savings makes working between states a bit of a mess.

Sam slips a dad joke or three into this episode and signs himself up to dress up as batman in the office (we wish that was a joke).

Then Bec introduces a new short segment (while the confessional has a siesta) called ‘Parents in the news’. This week sharing a new Bluey story where a police strike force (called strike force bandit) recovered over 40k of the 63k Bluey ‘dollar bucks’ coins that have been released by the Royal Australian Mint. Yes, this is real. And yes, they are selling on ebay for way more than they should!

We are then sharing the mess stories! From a few unfortunate poo-paintings, to real life paint paintings, all the toys, wall drawings and food attracting ant nests – there’s a few doozies that will make you feel like you’re not the only parent who’s had a bad day (or week, or month!).

We wrap up with a ‘would you rather’ mess edition – comparing mess scenarios and which would be worse (though we think we’ll take none of the above thank you!).

We wrap up with a reminder to send us your stories, SHOW US SOME LOVE and follow us on all the social platforms you’re on.

  • With laughs and gobsmacked moments, this week we are talking about some of the creepy things kids do!

To kick off this podcast for parents (and anyone who wants a laugh!) Sam and Bec say hi and catch up with their yay and nays of the week:

Bec's yay: actually getting a moment to get her eyebrows done

Bec's nay: the baby won't say her name!

Sam's yay: the baby only says 'dada'

Sam's nay: traveling for work when you have kids is hard

Then Sam shares a dad joke that unintentionally gets him signed up for a tens machine birth experience! Make sure you comment if you want to see this happen!

We move to the confessional for a good laugh at some of the things parents have had thrown at them lately including:

    - sleep-deprived yelling at babies

    - things you don't want to hear coming from the bathroom and

    - a really intuitive question we'd have no idea how to answer

Then we are sharing all the creepy things people sent in that their kids have said and done. We are talking creepy comments, talking to things we can't see, weird night time movements and knowing things they shouldn't!

If you're not a big Halloween lover - that's okay cos we manage to laugh about a lot of these (and as Australians don't go too hard on Halloween) - but that doesn't make some of these stories any less creepy! Some of these parents must be sleeping with one eye open!!

Send us your stories, show us some love on socials and come back next week for some more laughs!

  • This week we are talking white lies, some bigger than others and a few hilarious backfires and parent fails. We've also got some great confessions, and a dad joke or two thrown in!

Starting off, we catch up with our weekly yay and nay - but Sam is captain negative and accidentally planned two nays and no yays!

Bec is yaying: Facebook memories of the kids and funny moments from Sam hurting himself while she was in labour.

Bec is naying: the silly sounds and songs we make up to keep the baby awake in the car when they're trying to go to sleep minutes from home!

Sam's nay #1: waking up to a three year old wanting to play and punching him in the face.

Sam's nay #2: is the kids birthday party chaos and sensory overload!

Catch a bad dad joke or three before we head into the confessional where we have:

    - kids cutting their hair

    - parents hitting their kids heads putting them in the car

    - sending your kids to school when school isn't on!

Then we are right into all the white lie stories that were sent in -with bonus points for the ones that backfired!

We've got the usual Santa, Toothy Fair and Easter white lies, and then 'spicy' food, reverse psychology and mummy and daddy 'wrestling', just to name a few!

Laugh with us, subscribe and share this with someone who you think would love to laugh along too!

Come back next week and send us your stories as we ask the question: what's the creepiest thing your kid has said or done?

  • Strap in for some eye watering parenting confessions and the hilarious kids quotes parents sent in! #kidssaythedarndestthings

We kick of with our yays and nays, celebrating the wins and fails of our past week.

Bec’s nay: having the baby sync up with the podcast, giving us severe sleep deprivation the day of the last episode release!

Bec’s yay: the validation of watching Sam flounder to get the kids to school while she was unexpectedly out of action (he did great though!).

Sam’s nay: trying to find everything without Bec for school run (and another round of sickness!).

Sam’s yay: the birds on our family trip over the weekend. But more than that, seeing our kid’s personality come through, facing their fears to hold the birds too.

There’s no bird-themed dad jokes however, just some good old fashioned eye rolling jokes to take us into the parenting confessional.

This week the confessional is back, starting with a personal one with our daughter misunderstanding the stern warning from daddy after losing her last waterbottle, and thinking now she lost another that she wouldn’t be allowed to drink water!!

We had a single parent reach out to share their confession and co-parenting struggles, with a dad who will buy allllll the toys.

Then there’s THE biter story that will have all the dad’s eyes watering and legs crossed. We then close out the confessional with a parent rewarded with farts to the face for delaying the toilet training process.

    ENTER THE FUNNY KIDS QUOTES!

From hilarious reactions to messed up words and repeating all the secrets and things you don’t want them to say, listen along to hear the funny things kids say – and send us yours for next time cos this segment is a keeper that we return to regularly!

  • In this episode of the Unhelpful Parenting Podcast, we dive into the chaotic world of sleep-deprived parenting, and trust me, it’s a wild ride!

We share some hilarious stories you sent in —like that time a mum accidentally poured water into the toaster or another tried to crack eggs back into the carton. We also chat about the serious side of sleep deprivation, including dodgy driving and those emotional meltdowns that hit us out of nowhere.

With plenty of laughs and a few heartfelt moments, we want you to know you’re not alone in this chaos.

  • Sam is running the show today – so look out! We are talking dad jokes, washing machines, single parent shoutouts, hilarious kid mispronunciations, ‘cool’ parent attempts, and a never have I ever parenting edition.

Kicking off with our weekly ‘yays’ and ‘nays’…

Bec’s yay: her washing machine. Other mums often ask what to buy before having kids – Bec says buy a big washing machine so all the bedding can go in at once! Her

Bec’s nay: her latest nickname from the 3yo who is learning he is a ‘big boy’ so she is a ‘big mummy’ to him.

Sam’s yay: having school back, not cos he hates the holidays but because he loves the routine.

Sam’s nay: is our latest wave of all-over-the-place weather, bringing a new wave of bugs and viruses.

We do a special shoutout to the single parents. We recognise a lot of our banter and experience is around parenting as a married couple, and wanted to take a moment to appreciate that single parents have an added complexity to an already complex part of life – so to all the single parents – we salute you!

INTO THE CONFESSIONAL! This week we have 3 stories off the back of the one we got sent last episode. From the parent poorly explaining what a stripper was, and then having his daughter tell people that’s what she wanted to be (cos who wouldn’t want to dance for money?), we have… the boy who wanted to be a hooker (cos squirrels), the boy with the hooker truck (cos that makes so much more sense than a tow truck), and the kid who thought he was dressed as a ‘child predator’ for Halloween!

Finishing off with another parent story sent in, confessing to trying to be cool and using the latest slang the wrong way (who knew ‘skibbidy’ was an insult?!). We laugh about all the latest slang and how we already have no clue!

In the final segment of this parenting podcast, we play an extremely unhelpful (but fun!) round of ‘never have I ever’, parenting edition. Play along and see how many you get – have you dozed off on the toilet? Or ran an errand just to ‘get away’? We come close to almost ALL of them, but Sam wins out this round (just!). We do all the parent talk and laughs in this one!

Come back next week where we are talking sleep deprivation – and send us your funny stories of what you’ve done cos you were sleep deprived!

  • Get ready for the most mind-boggling confessional and dad fail we've been sent by a parent!

This episode we have 3 epic confession stories and are back with would you rather 2.0.

Starting with our yays or nays, Bec is yaying her reverse nesting doing the baby stuff chuck out (but the resulting chaotic mess is Sam's nay!). Bec is naying the insanity it is to juggle 3 kids' schedules plus her own, with a new appreciation for her own mum. Sam adds his yay that it's beach weather where we are, and for the first time in a long time we are getting to soak it up without morning sickness, being heavily pregnant or a teeny tiny baby keeping us indoors.

Sam then throws in his dad joke for the week that leaves us rolling our eyes into the confessional.

We hit the confessional with 3 hilarious and almost unbelievable parenting stories:

    1. The dad who explained things badly so their kid announced they wanted to be a stripper at school.

    2. The kid who took dad's 'special' magazines to school for show and tell and,

    3. The dad who played unconscious and went to hospital after sleeping through his school pickup responsibilities!!!

When we get done laughing at that, we go through another round of Sam's parenting would you rather - because the gastro vs lice debate continues in the TikTok comments.

We are comparing many awful realities like forever having Baby Shark stuck in your head or giving up wine, or being trapped all day in a room with a child learning the recorder or a room with some spiders in it...

Ending with a reminder to come back next week, subscribe and please share this with your mum and dad friends to lighten their parenting woes and let them know we are in this together!

  • Warning! By the end of this episode Bec almost wets herself laughing!

We are back with a whole lot of parent support through laughter! Whether you're looking for parent conversations or some solidarity through the stories we get sent in - we are here for you!

We start every episode catching up with our parenting yay or nay for the week. Bec is yaying celebrating their child's 1st birthday, surviving a year of 3 young kids, while managing to pull off a super last minute birthday party! The nay being the xylophone toy she asked family not to buy and then SAM DID!!

Sam is of course yaying the xylophone and how he still thinks it was a great present, and naying the way wives and partners will say no to food and then want to share yours later.

He gets a little dad joke in before we launch into the confessional!

This week's stories are branded 'the brutal things kids say', hearing stories about kids destroying their parents egos - starting with Bec experiencing our 5yo this week asking why she was getting so fat. There's kids insulting their parents' looks, age and then trying hard to be mean and failing (Cue: I'll put you in the trash!').

Then we are in with the helpful hacks sent in - but being the unhelpful parenting podcast we had to keep it fun and a little less helpful so Sam is tasked with inserting unhelpful parenting facts after each hack.

The mom hacks and parent hacks are extremely helpful, but the facts take a turn and Bec comments that they've likely managed to somehow offend everyone with the funny parent facts.

We end up in hysterics as Sam tries hard to back pedal from his hilariously bad facts - but they did the job and kept us laughing at funny and relatable parent feels.

Between laughs we manage to remind you to like, subscribe and share what we hope is the best parenting podcast (or at least the one that makes you laugh!) to show us the love and keep the stories flowing in!

  • We are back with the Unhelpful Parenting Podcast, this week with more confessions, funny stories, un-motivations and would you rathers.

Kick starting with the yays and nays, we catch you up on our highs and lows of parenting this week.

Sam is yaying the cute personalities coming out as each kid grows, but naying the way we sometimes just snap as parents (especially at 1am in the morning!!). Bec is yaying reaching the 1 year mark with baby number 3, but naying getting in trouble by the empathetic 5yo for killing a bug. She sneaks in an extra nay, feeling terrible for how poorly organised the first birthday if baby 3 is and how neglected the third child is in comparison to the first 😅

Sam gets his dad joke in and then we hit the parenting confessional with 4 hilarious stories sent in this week...

    1. A new mum getting a baby carrier cover and skirt mixed up.

    2. Siblings bribing each other to leave.

    3. Toddlers pulling on clothes and flashing mamma's boobs at the bank.

    4. Another dad who landed himself in ICU when he found out his wife was in labour (this time from a nut allergy and eating the wrong chocolate bar!).

We ask that you keep sending in your stories and funny kids quotes, but this week Bec has collated all the brutal things you've sent in that they've said. Sam cues the track and we have a beautiful un-motivational moment reading through some like 'you're ruining my life'. Just what every parent wants to hear.

This takes us to a deeper parenting discussion on failing as parents and modelling how to fail for our kids. We aren't meant to be perfect parents, but we are the best parents for our kids.

That's as close to helpful as you'll get as Sam finishes us off with a would you rather? We are talking gastro vs nits and head butts vs standing on Lego.

We finish with a call out for your helpful hacks. Send us the little things that make parenting just that slight bit easier for you! We are talking the tabs on juice boxes turning into handles, or oats to bulk up expensive breakfast cereal!

Share us with your friends and show us some love (while we contend with the nasty side of the internet comments on recent posts!) and come back next week for more!!!

  • It was our father’s day on the weekend so here are some hilarious dad fails and stories as we laugh together at the parent life realities!

But first, our *croaky* voices are back and still in recovery, just in time for our 11 month old baby to start teething. For obvious reasons, Bec’s yay is baby Panadol – cos what did parents do without it?! And her nay is the teething and how she forgot the molars are the worst. When the molars come through one cusp at a time, it’s like 4 different teeth! Sam starts with his nay, and the cost of renting with kids, and how your priorities shift from fun entertainment features to practical, toy storage requirements. But his yay is father’s day and getting some really quality time with the kids and how much it fills their cups.

Because it was father’s day, Bec promises no eye rolling or comments about how many dad jokes Sam is bringing this week, which she fails at straight away when he announces he has SIX! But they are quite funny so the eye rolling is replaced mostly with laughter.

Then we hit the dad-fessional. Funny stories, fails and laughs thanks to the dads. The stories include:

A personal one from a family member, with a dad promising a theme park visit but delivering with an at home DIY version. He meant well but the kids were devastated!

A dad thinking he was cool taking his daughter to get a nose piercing without talking to mom first. Not a good idea.

A dad who fell over and needed stitches in his head when his wife went into labour. Good news – he made the birth.

A dad who’s signature move is letting it rip during family photos and getting hilarious photo reactions.

A dad getting the pop culture references wrong trying to fit in with the kids.

A lego fanatic dad who got the surprise of his life finding out they were pregnant.

Then we follow Bec down a rabbit hole of lesser known facts and interesting things relating to parenting in this ‘Did you know?’ segment.

Share this with your mum friends and dad friends and help us spread the word that the tough times of parenting happen to everyone and it’s okay to laugh about it!

  • We are back from our completely unplanned 2 week sick break! We’ve got all the laughs and heaps of your stories built up and ready to go though!

There may still be a cough or two, but we share a small insight into the hell that parenting while sick is. Sam’s YAY for the week was spending some one-on-one time with the baby (which doesn’t happen often cos he’s #3!), and his NAY was WHAT THE *F*LU?! Being sick with kids was actually a nightmare. Bec tags on her NAY of parents not having sick days – we could literally be on fire and the kids would still ask for snacks. But her YAY was the incredible family support network that we know we are very blessed and grateful to have.

Before we get to the dad jokes, Sam has to give an APOLOGY! A few episodes ago he had a rant about American Hershey’s chocolate and how gross it makes the KitKat in comparison to what we get in Australia. We aren’t sorry for that (unless you’re in the States and have to eat that…), but he did say KitKat was a Mars product, when it is actually made by Nestle! We wouldn’t normally correct a mistake in such detail, but more than one of our devoted listeners were appalled, and so were we because we know chocolate is critical for parenting through some days! 😉

Bec gives Sam’s dad jokes and obligatory eye roll and laugh – which means they’re actually quite good dad jokes, and then we head to the parenting confessional.

We start by sharing the top 6 follow up stories that came in off the back of the dad being questioned by a security guard for carrying out his screaming child from the shops. It turns out that that dad was not alone at all – and there are lots of stories of kids chucking tantrums or screaming about being kidnapped and getting their parents in trouble!

Then we share the story of a kid who went ‘missing’ trying to lie as flat as they could in bed, and hear the story of an incredibly entitled mum who expected the school teachers to throw her child’s birthday party during class – and didn’t even stick around to set up!

After, we do a quick catch up on a few incredibly surreal parenting moments Bec has had since we’ve been away. From being mistakenly asked if she was pregnant, to inappropriate and unhelpful comments travelling solo with a baby on the plane, and then being unsure whether to call the police or knock on the neighbours door at 4am – A LOT has happened!

As always, we wrap up sharing that you are not alone in this parenting journey – even at the worst moments – because they clearly happen to all of us!

Before you leave, make sure you send us your Father’s Day stories for the next episode, and share this with your mum friends and your dad friends.

  • Well we aren’t really back this week! We are down, out and feeling rubbish. Baby, toddler and 5 yo down with the flu bug – IYKYK!

Rather than leave you hanging (especially if you’re new here!), we’ve pieced together some of the best parenting stories and confessions we’ve been sent since we started earlier in the year.

This is only a few favourites – comment and tell us which is your favourite! We think Bec saved the best for last 😉

Enjoy and send us your funny stories and fails for the confessional in future…

  • Welcome to this week’s Unhelpful Parenting Podcast with an Olympic twist!

To start we are doing our Yays and Nays, talking school drop-offs, getting kids to focus on any activity for more than 5 minutes, our love for the tuckshop apps and frustration at gold coin collections (because who has cash on hand these days?!).

Before we get to talking parents at the Olympics, parenting and the Olympics and parent Olympic moments, we have four hilarious parenting moments in the confessional this week!

Whether you’re a mum who’s bragged about their kid, only to have them go insane when you hoped they’d show off, or a dad who’s had to convince security that your tantrum-ing child IS yours (or maybe you’ve dropped a phone on your newborn) – you’ll be able to relate quite well to these funny parent stories!

Then we get to the Olympics chat and talking about it from the parenting perspective. We talk about how it hits different as you get older, and you move from watching thinking ‘I could do that’ to ‘I wonder if my kid could do that’.

We talk about some Olympic stories that have come through, with parents wearing heart rate monitors while watching their kids compete and the absolute boss mode of the Turkish man who got silver in the shooting events.

Then we turn to the relatable parent Olympic events. Backstroke but with a 3yo sitting on top, or cycling with smudgy fingerprints and toys all over the track! Comment to tell us what your relatable event would be!

The call out this week is for all the dads as we start to prepare for our Father’s Day episode – send us your dad fails and your dad brag moments. Have you gone boss mode and had an awesome moment? Or do you have a funny dad fail to admit to? Send us your stories and join the fun! (Mums – you can still send yours to the confessional too of course!)

  • Welcome back to the unhelpful parenting podcast where we are laughing through another week of parent fails, funny kid moments and a this or that quiz from SAM instead of Bec for a change.

We kick the episode off with our Yays and Nays (highs and lows if you’re new!). Bec braved the grocery shop with all three kids for the first time this week – something she’s been putting off for a long time but decided to suck it up and do. She survived but was left with the ‘nay’ and dilemma of how to get the kids back in the car in the most safe way. Do you leave the mobile 5yo out in the busy carpark while you put the baby in, or leave the baby and 3yo in the trolley with $300 worth of shopping while you put the mobile 5yo in first?!

Sam’s yay was finally getting to sleep without the kids in the bed, but it has meant using the parent hack of putting mattresses on the floor – so the nay is still not having space. He also nay’s the nappy stage of life and is itching for the 3yo to be toilet trained – even though Bec reminds him that we are past halfway through our nappy years!

We reflect on last week’s conversation and are reminded again of our age as someone sent in that their friends kid didn’t know what a USB is! Sam is in denial but Bec says it’s inevitable that USBs are something we are going to have to explain to our children because they’ve got the cloud.

Sam’s back with his dad jokes and memes he’s found on social media and we are Olympics themed and talking about our wardrobes and how we hold onto the ‘just in case’ clothes we might fit again.

The confessional is wild this week, with 3 new stories. We have:

    - A mum who’s kid throws her under the bus and tells her friend what she says about her messy house in private.

-A toilet training boy who was sure everyone at the zoo needed to see his willy and

-A son who made a scene at the shops and gave everyone the wrong impression that he didn’t have his own toothbrush and had to share!

Then Sam takes over and does his first go at wish or want, which is a this or that, that he ends up calling real or fake (you’ll have to watch and listen for that to make sense!). He’s got a list of baby products that are so wild, but half are real-life products and half are ones he made up (with a few potential mum business ideas thrown in!). Bec gets most of them right, but it’s still full of laughs as we can’t believe some of these products exist!

  • Get ready for the laughs as we head into episode 21 of the Unhelpful Parenting Podcast!

Sam and Bec say hi in their unintentionally matched outfits, talking their yay and nays for the week. Bec is yaying insulated cups that are the ONLY way mums get to drink tea or coffee hot and naying the fact that you can drive thru alcohol but not bread, milk, eggs and bananas! Sam is naying his top golf experience because he didn’t get any points, but yaying it because he had fun, kid-free time.

Sam then starts us off with another of his dad joke/meme moments to make sure the laughs start rolling in.

We head to the confessional, where we share a real one of Bec’s where she admits to her naive aspirations of how she would deal with tantrums falling apart. Who knew young kids and toddlers who can’t communicate yet can’t be talked through them?! We also had a babysitter send in her confession that she put too much effort into encouraging the kid she was looking after to be friends with their bully (which she didn’t know about!) and someone who’s kid thought the old school pencil sharpener at the thrift shop was a fishing reel (we feel old!!!!!).

From the mouth of babes is ready to have you cackling at all the funny things kids say. Starting with their own kids’ monkey poo bums and meltdowns because ‘I DON’T HAVE ANY MONEY!’, Sam and Bec laugh their way through the funny stories you sent in. There’s the brutal insults, the awkward mispronunciations, and all things cute, hilarious and funny. ‘Bye mum, hope you don’t die today’…

Laugh along with us, like this video and share it with your mum and dad friends!

  • Today we are laughing our way through parenting even when the wheels fall off and the rollercoaster is on fire!

We say hello with our yay and nay's for the week - Sam talking all about his amazing weekend with the kids, but the killer cost of living as a parent. Bec is also talking the parent wins of happy kids with her dinosaur birthday cake, while nay-ing the winter clothing debacle of baby vomit and nappy blowouts that make packing for an afternoon a whole suitcase ordeal!

Sam keeps us laughing with his usual jokes and memes - a dad joke too many if you ask Bec - but she was laughing all the more!

The confessional has 5 different stories this week - and keep sending them in! We've got the...

    - kindergartener bathing with her uncle (turns out, he's 2!),

    - screen time confessions that we can all sympathise with,

    - a sleep-deprived groceries whoopsie that could have looked like a child abduction,

    - a lost pea up a nose and,

    - a brutally honest primary school card for a teacher.

The brutal honest comment leads us to our call out for this week - SEND US THE FUNNY THINGS YOUR KIDS SAY! We are back to the mouth of babes next week and want to hear all the hilarious comments, questions and perfectly (or un-perfectly) timed moments that make you think 'WHAT?!'

We finish the episode with a game of This or That. Is it an Ikea baby product, or is it a Swedish footballer. Play along and see if you're as good as Sam who got them all right! Bec admits she probably got ALL the pronunciations wrong too - so that's an added laugh along the way.

Click the like button, subscribe and listen along for more laughs coming to you next week!

  • Welcome to the unhelpful parenting podcast episode that was so good we had to do it twice! Just kidding… Sam forgot to hit record the first time so you’ll get to laugh with us about an extra fail this week XD

We are coming for the Bluey minisodes this week, and Sam has a good soul cleansing whinge about Australian food after a weekend at a French festival eating real pastry (not quite parenting we know – but it was clearly a life changing pastry…). But at the heart of the laughs are two more parenting confessionals (one of them Becs which she doesn’t like to admit!) and then we are in to the dad jokes you sent in.

When you listen to the last parenting confessional – make sure you pick a team. Does it sound like a mom fail or a dad fail? Comment who you think got it right (aka Bec of course…) – or if you sent us the story – tell us! It was anonymous so we don’t know!!

Dads – it’s up to you if we do the dad jokes as a whole segment again. If you send us the jokes it’ll be back by popular demand! Moms – if you roll your eyes as hard as Bec, let her know she’s not the only one!

In fact, that’s what we are here for. We may not be the best parenting podcast or the best parenting channel for advice – but we are here to encourage you that in the pits of parenting fail moments you aren’t alone. The wheels fall off for all of us at one point or another, you aren’t the only one who struggles, and you are going to be okay. We hope this makes you laugh and feel some joy in your parenting journey!
