Louise's story is a mixture of creative talent, hard work and... well, chance.
Because although she carved out her own successful career prior to the world of reclamation, it was a chance meeting and a chance friendship (that later became a romantic relationship) that ultimately brought her to where she is today.
And even though she joined her (now) husband's successful reclamation business later on in life (10-years ago), Louise brought with her a wealth of creative talent and retail experience that has enabled the business to evolve and further flourish... And is enabling them to now build their dream home, which will be (as far as possibly) built and made entirely out of reclaimed materials.
Please meet Louise.

Judging by the smells in Katie's home kitchen when we podded her, it's no wonder Katie is so busy with her catering business.
A catering business which to this day makes her family laugh, because as a child, and a young teen, Katie had no interest in food or cooking. Her parents also aren't caterers, so this whole career path came out of the blue.
... Although not entirely. Katie talks about being creative as a child, particularly with textiles, and so whether she realised it or not, she was always going to end up thriving in a role that allowed her to express the creative part of herself.
But it didn't happen quickly, and it didn't happen overnight... Quite a few 'normal' jobs went through Katie's path before she ended up catering for big events and booked-up months in advance.
Please meet Katie.

Kerry's products and her approach are highly sought after. They're beautifully unique and beautifully executed... Hence why she ships them all over the world.
She refused to follow the traditional 'upholstering' path - despite being advised by MANY people to do that - and instead she's carved out her own path, and stayed true to it. And it's now paying dividends, because as well as custom upholstery, she's getting asked for collaborations and home styling advice... and much more.
As Kerry says in the chat, she's worked hard to create a 'brand', and now where that brand takes her is an open road.
Please meet Kerry.

Laura & Andy are just BRILLIANT people inside and out; oozing positivity and 'doing good' as a way of life, not just as a way of doing business. It was a real privilege to spend a couple of hours with them, and as Chops said to them afterwards, she felt like a better person for just spending those two hours with them... That's how impactful they are.
Their coffee business is also brilliant, to the extent that they've outgrown their current premises. What started out as just the two of them, is now seven of them, all working to deliver exceptional products, with exceptional customer service, and underlined with an exceptional ethos and approach to the world.
Good in = Good out.
Please meet Laura and Andy.

Knowing the first pod as TWWork needed to be 'different', it didn't take Chops's brain long to think of Simon; because she has always wanted to pod him. She just didn't know how or when.
It's the reason a year down the line she hadn't (yet) podded a female hairdresser, despite LOTS of recommendations and requests for female hairdressers to be podded.
Simon's story is brilliant, irrelevant of the rebrand. He's a work-hard-play-hard talented hairdresser with nearly 30 years of experience. He's also a proud, but reserved gay man, and he talks through his gay journey candidly and eloquently during the chat.
The fact that he's also Chops' hairdresser is almost irrelevant... She's simply lucky enough to be in his stratosphere.
Please meet Simon.

There is so much good stuff in Jody's chat... About childhood influences, terrible school career advice, sibling influences; how significant motherhood demands affect career prospects, and about completely re-starting your career in your 40s.
... And that's before we've even got to the world of Herbalism and the role it can play in all of our lives, but particularly the complimentary role it can play alongside conventional medicine; which is something Jody is HUGELY passionate about, along with debunking silly myths and stigmas.
Please meet Jody.

Bryony is now in her late thirties, has 3 kids still in primary school, and is FINALLY stepping into her true self. She's combining her deep love and passion for music with her work and career, and she is literally glowing from it.
And it's all come at exactly the right time for her, because even though she's got a long way to go before she's 'in demand' writing for NME and Rolling Stone, she's now mature and wise enough to know what she needs to do/what she needs to work on to get better, and she is VERY determined to be better. She'll be writing for those big music titles in no time!
Bryony is proof that even later on (not that she's old at all), you can start again, and you can land that dream.
Please meet Bryony.

Katie's had a pretty tough time of it. From struggling at school, to her mum becoming terminally ill, and then having her own fertility struggles in her 30s... It's been a lot.
So it's perhaps no surprise that Katie has looked for answers beyond the conventional, and that she's drawn to 'heal' at a root cause level.
In this chat we cover off reflexology for (peri)menopause, for fertility, and indeed what it can do to lower stress and anxiety, which in turn means lowering cortisol levels; and if you're on social media at all, you'll know that Cortisone is a hot topic right now, not least because of how much it ages us prematurely.
Please meet Katie.

Ally is everything you think she'll be, in so far as she's beautiful, strong and a fierce empower-er of women... However, she's also vulnerable and aware of how much she (over) works.
... Because she does work hard. Yes she has a great team of instructors, and a fab family (and dad) that support her, but The Pole Room is her business and the hard work and the risk are hers alone.
Ally's studio is amazing, and if you check out her socials, you'll find lots of content proudly shared by her students. They're (mostly) not skinny fitness fanatics; instead they're normal women who are using Ally's studio, and her classes, for both physical and mental health fitness... And it works.
Please meet Ally.

Nicki has worked in recruitment for many years, and she has seen A LOT of changes in that time.
In this Break Room chat, Nicki and Chops talk through a lot (whilst also barely scratching the surface); not least 'age', and how it can be tough as an 'older' person applying for jobs and going up against not only people in their thirties, but twenty somethings as well... Because young people are smart and they play the progression game way better than older generations ever have.
The ladies also chat AI, part-time vs hybrid and indeed employer reticence to ever look beyond their industry lane.
Please meet Nicki.

Even though Helen did an Art History degree when she was younger, it wasn't what she went on to pursue as a career. Why? Lots of reasons, but the main one being that she simply didn't think she could, either due to societal perceptions, and/or financial restrictions... It wasn't a job she thought someone like her could do back then.
But now that she's in her 40s and has bossed a successful marketing career for nearly 20-years, it's a different ball-game. That youthful fear has been replaced by an innate belief in her own ability.
Helen's goal and her plan is simple: To make art accessible to all, not just the elite. Everyone and anyone that would love to find affordable (to them), meaningful pieces to hang and have at their homes or places of work. 'The Art Buyer's' ethos is about helping anyone find and buy artwork - and to help more artists sell artwork, irrelevant of their background.
Please meet Helen.

It's really difficult to describe/articulate how beautiful Meg's flowers are - and how crazy realistic they are.
It's also really difficult to articulate how brilliant it is as a business... Because it's so utterly unique. There's no world in which - prior to this pod, perhaps - you'd leave college and go: 'Right, I'm going to become a paper-flower artist and make money that way'.
And yet you can.
Meg is.
And she LOVES it!
Please meet Meg.

Katie owns and runs an estate agency, and has been bossing it in the property world for years, but, that's not all she's about.
Katie is not one thing; she never has been, and she never will be; and that's just fine. Yes it means a squiggly career/life journey (as we see with lots of our TWW pods), but it's an evolving journey with one firm goal: To find true happiness and peace in whatever she does.
So when we tell you that alongside her very 'straight' property business, she's also a reiki master and healer, it shouldn't be too much of a surprise 😉
Please meet Katie.
PS. The background noise you can hear is from Katie's garden... It was a glorious, sunny day, so we sat outside to chat; which meant, bugs, dogs and neighbourhood strimmers. But as always, we're good with that :-)

Hearing Nicola's story, and hearing how she put her own career on hold in support of her partner's (who went on to be her husband), and then in support of her kids, will resonate with A LOT of women.
But hearing how she then reclaimed her career - her sense of self - as soon as the kids were a bit older, was equally joyous to hear.
Because there is no 'right' way to build a career - no 'right' timeline to follow - and successful relationships/successful marriages are all about 'partnership' (in my view, at least). Nicola took the early sacrifice for the greater good, and her husband later sacrificed and supported her for the greater good. And Nicola is good; her whole persona exudes calmness and peace, which is why she's a great natural healer. She lives and breathes physical and energetic healing... which is why she really very good at it!
Please meet Nicola.

Like LOTS of the women, Lisa has very much taken the long way to get to where she is today, which is following her true passion in fashion design and dress-making. A passion she had as a young 16-year-old (if not younger), but somehow got distracted from.
... A distraction that has seen her do some mad jobs/roles along the way, whilst having and raising two amazing daughters near enough on her own.
Thankfully the years between then and now have not gone to waste, and she's now combining her dress-making passion with with her years of teaching in adult education, and runs sold-out courses and programmes for anyone that wants to learn how to do what Lisa does... Which is to create amazing new garments (from old/existing clothing and rags) that will fit your shape perfectly.
Please meet Lisa.

Jo's journey and career story articulates 'change' brilliantly.
She made changes to suit her family - her children's - needs at the time, or at least what she thought they were. She left big pharma and re-trained became a teacher so that she could have matching holidays with her children, and (as she thought beforehand), similar working/school hours to them.
But what she didn't factor in, was her own fundamental ambition, coupled with her innate need to go that extra mile; which in the end meant she worked even crazier hours teaching than she had in big pharma (feeling the full responsibility of the role)?! She then got (as she had in pharma) multiple, quick promotions, which duly put extra responsibility on her shoulders... And gave her even more 'extra' miles to go.
The result? When her children were a bit older, she left teaching and went back to her previous role (even though people told her she couldn't, because 'she'd been out of it for too long'), and was quickly, and is still, bossing it all over again.
Please meet Jo.

What's great about Sophie's pod, is that like Leah, Sophie has bossed her teaching career thus far. But in addition, 4-years ago she scratched an itch she'd had for a long time, and went to teach abroad. Moved her whole family to Thailand!
And when we say teach, she did teach, and was a Head of department (here in the UK and out in Thailand), but was quickly bossing it so much (in Thailand) that she got promoted to an even bigger Head, so in fact now doesn't teach much at all.
Sophie has LOTS of great intel about working abroad; what's it's like and what the packages you get are, so if you're a teacher that's got the same itch, do give Sophie a listen. And if you're currently doing something else altogether, but have always fancied teacher, please do give both pods a listen... and indeed our teacher-esque Break Room chat, which goes live on Sunday.
Please meet Sophie.

Very much a good-time girl when she was younger, and in lots of respects unsure what she wanted to do 'career-wise' post gap-year'ing and uni - other than use her languages, which Leah was/is excellent at - it's almost chance that took her into teaching.
... Because she isn't a qualified teacher!
And yet Leah is a teacher... Well, she was... She's now flourished so much that she's a Head of Lower School for a very prestigious private school in Surrey. Interesting, right?
Please meet Leah.

Henna gives lots of great advice and intel about the highs and lows of dentistry, and is honest about what was and wasn't 'for her' within the field; but perhaps the most poignant topics covered, were about the current craze for fillers and veneers; and (not only what that fundamentally does to your teeth, but), the fact that any work is final?! Something lots of, particularly young people, don't consider.
... Teeth NEVER grow back, so whatever cosmetic work you do, is done for life. The consequences of it are a lifetime of upkeep, dental bills and... quite frankly... paranoia.
Please meet Henna.

Emma also exudes positivity, so it's no surprise to hear that opportunities have naturally found her, rather than her seeking them out. Good energy attracts good energy, and Emma is FULL of good energy.
It's also no surprise that she's doing a role that she absolutely loves... She literally picks dogs up and takes them out to play, and she gets paid to do it... Come on, name us a better job?
Interestingly, we chat to Emma as she is beginning her 'what's next'; whereby she and her husband have sold up and bought a field that they can turn into the next phase of 'Oodles'. Exciting times are truly ahead for them both.
Please meet Emma.
