* ERRATA CORRIGE: La cifra de medios confiscados y cerrados aumentó a 46 “entre” 2018 y 2022, not “en” 2018 y 2022
We should have said “Ministerio de Salud”, not “Ministerio de Sanidad”

Editorial cartoonists often make us laugh. But at what cost? Sometimes there is a price to pay, and a high one, for holding power accountable with satire.
A cartoonist is fired because of a drawing. A cartoonist is forced to flee the country, after receiving multiple death threats. A cartoonist is arrested and, while in custody, is tortured. A cartoonist disappears. A cartoonist is killed.
Tough Laugh is a new podcast project produced by Emanuele Del Rosso, and Federica Testi. It is dedicated to the profession of editorial cartoonist and how difficult it can be: on the economic hardship, the harassment, the threats, and the physical violence cartoonists face because of the job they do.
