As important as allopathic medicine is to alleviating sicknesses, we cannot deny that our own mental state and environment aren't important factors in the healing process. Integrative medicine has been put on the back burner, oftentimes as a last resort when really it deserves so much more attention earlier on in the healing process.

In this episode, I have Dr. Suzanne Hackenmiller, an OBGYN who discovered the wonderful world of integrative medicine and forest bathing, also known as forest therapy which aims to heal in the presence of clean and pure nature.

Her extensive studies in various physical therapy techniques, Chinese medicine’s 5 Element Theory, and the Polyvagal Theory allows her to evolve her clinical practice to newer heights. This has led her to become the founder of Gratitude Arts Healing where she works with the goal to facilitate and support her patients’ well-being and healing.

Join us to learn how Nicole creates the intersection between modern Western and traditional Chinese medicine, and how we can use it to help us better understand our bodies in these stressful times!

Sleep deprivation is a state we’ve all experienced. Whether it be from trying to cram that 5-page essay at 3 AM or staying up all night due to insomnia. It’s a struggle that’s been aggravated by the modern age, where work hours are getting increasingly longer and busier and we’re constantly surrounded by attention-grabbing stimuli. Sleep is, unfortunately, turning into a luxury rather than a crucial aspect of our health.

Our guest for this week is Dr. Meredith Broderick, a triple board-certified neurologist with specializations in sleep medicine and behavioral sleep medicine. She’ll discuss with us various topics related to sleep such as the science behind it, common sleep problems and issues, and methods we can improve our sleep health.

When it comes to health and nutrition, the topics people would usually think of are foods, exercise, and medicines. We put so much focus on what we put into our body, we end up overlooking what comes out of it. Today’s guest is passionate about educating others on gut health and helping her patients in what she considers an understudied field of medicine.

Dr. Kumkum Sarkar Patel is a practicing gastroenterologist who specializes in irritable bowel syndrome, swallowing disorders, and pelvic floor disorders. She’ll be sitting down with us to discuss the science behind gut health, how it impacts our mental health, and vice versa. Our digestive system doesn’t end at the mouth or stomach, and we need to remember just how interconnected our body actually is.

How Kabbalah Can Help Change Our Perspectives

Kabbalah, oftentimes misconceived as a religion or stemming from religion-- is actually far from that. In today's episode, I’m joined by Daniel Naor, a long time practitioner and teacher of Kabbalah, to talk about what it is at its core and it’s fundamental ideologies.

I’ve personally been studying Kabbalah for a few years, and I can say with a hundred percent certainty that it’s absolutely changed my life and how I view particular topics! It’s expanded my consciousness in ways I didn’t think it would, and I’d love for you to listen in and hear what Daniel has to say!

There’s definitely nuggets of wisdom to be learned from this episode today!

    Quote: 2:08

    “What is Kabbalah?

It's a very ancient wisdom. It's not something new or invented. It's universal. And I think this is the biggest misconception that people believe that it belongs to a certain religion, maybe to Judaism. And while many of the capitalists were Jewish, and definitely has its heritage, by itself, Kabbalah precedes religion and existed way before religion came to existence. “

There have been a plethora of fad diets that have come and gone these years, all with different promises of lasting effects that will help you slim down fast. Sure, some of them can work for you, but it doesn’t mean the root cause is addressed.

Today I’m joined by Verneri Jaamuru, the Co-Founder and Head of Product at Veri Stable, a continuous glucose monitor to better watch over your metabolic health and stabilise your glucose levels. • Well Balanced 360 Ep 05: How to improve your health with Ashwagandha, Ghee, & Shilajit

    Uma Naralkar

    Overview

“Adaptogens are like the perfect pair of earrings,” says nutritionist Uma Naralkar. In the same way that earrings complete a beautiful outfit, adaptogens compliment and boost a healthy lifestyle, to help your body stay in balance.

Uma grew up in India with a passion for nutrition, but it wasn’t until she started working a corporate job in Hollywood that she realized the impact of nutrition on her life. When she got married and tried to conceive in her 20s, the late nights, alcohol, and lack of exercise from her job made it almost impossible. Uma started studying nutrition, got healthier, conceived her kids, and soon found a new calling -- helping other women balance their hormones and maintain a healthy lifestyle so they feel better (and, often, lose weight!).

In this episode of the Well Balanced 360 podcast, Uma and host Dr. Shivani talk about three popular adaptogens to support healthy cortisol levels, balance your hormones, and improve energy and sleep: Ashwagandha, Ghee, & Shilajit. Tune in to learn more about how these ancient Indian supplements can support a healthier, happier lifestyle.

    Quotes

“You have to remember that the foundation of your health still lies in nutrition, and what you’re consuming through whole food, as well as how active your lifestyle is, as well as your mindset and stress management. And once you are doing that, that’s where I like to throw adaptogens in, because they seal the deal. ”
