In 2019, a story broke that an astronaut at the International Space Station was involved in what could have been the first space crime. The astronaut was subsequently found to be the victim of slander and their accuser was charged with lying to federal investigators. As such, we will not be mentioning the astronaut's name, which country they hailed from, or what was the alleged crime.
This incident was quickly billed among many newspapers as the “first space crime,” and this episode will explore what the first space crime may be, and will be excluding nation versus nation. How will the crimes be prosecuted and how will criminals be treated?

With the election over, we are finally going to explore a topic that we’ve wanted to discuss since the first episode.
Should the promise of renewed space exploration be a focus of political campaigns?
Back in 1960, John Fitzgerald Kennedy promised to make space exploration a main point of his presidency; LBJ and Nixon both carried this goal through the rest of the 1960s, leading mankind to the Moon. As the United States enters a period of renewed excitement for manned spaceflight, will and should presidential candidates promote their views on space exploration; and do the American people want to hear this position?

In this episode, Hugh and Eric discuss space tourism and how risk acceptance will play a huge role in the development of space tourism as an industry.

In episode 3, Hugh and I discussed currency in space. One of the underlying economic phenomenons often talked about, relative to currencies is inflation. In this episode of the satellite, we’re going to discuss how inflation may work when humans begin permanent settlements on Mars.
-
Economies need a medium to facilitate trade. On earth, we have currencies which fills that role. As we as a species journey into space and establish permit settlements, we will need to have a way to trade, and currency will be vital to this. So today, we’re going to explore what forces are going to impact the future of currency.

Hi Everyone,
I want to introduce a new mini-show called Satellite, which "revolves" around Astro-nomics. It is a short format, single host show that covers one very specific topic.
This week we're talking about the near term prospect of economic space development, particularly the barriers of entry surround space development and the different impact of these barriers between the private sector and the public sector.
New episodes every Thursday at 8 am est!
Thanks for listening!

In this week's episode, we talk about how space trade may work and how NASA's mission to an asteroid helps us understand scarcity in space...and possibly space pirates make it into the discussion.
-
In the first episode, Hugh and Eric cover a wide array of Earth-bound space topics that will help to set the launchpad for future episodes.
-
An introduction into what we are going to cover in Astro-nomics!
