  • This episode is a quick one, but it's packed with some powerful stuff about confidence that's been on my mind lately.

This week, I'm in the middle of some big meetings, and though I can’t spill all the tea just yet, the opportunities are huge! Reflecting on my journey, I’ve realized how investing in myself has led to phenomenal growth. I’ll be sharing an eye-opening exercise that could shift your perspective on confidence and inspire new strategies.

Now, let’s touch on a crucial aspect of our industry: selling confidence, because that's what we do in the beauty industry. Here's the truth - you can't sell what you don't have. If you're not feeling confident internally, it's going to be really hard to sell confidence to others. It shows in everything - how you generate leads, talk to clients, even your tone of voice.

So, I challenge you to think about this: If you had 10 times more confidence, what would you do differently in your business? What's stopping you from having that confidence now?

Today we're talking about something that might surprise you - why social media might not be the best way to grow your business. I know, I know, it sounds crazy, but hear me out.

    In this episode, I'm sharing:

Why I've been pulling back from social media latelyWhy Google ads might be more effective for our industry than social mediaThe importance of making sure your online presence matches your brand

I'm also sharing some real numbers from my own experience, like how we spend about $1000 a month on advertising and how that compares to the cost of our services. I'll explain why I think it's worth the investment.

Remember, this is based on my experience, and it's all about finding what works for your specific business.

  • Do you still find yourself thinking about getting into this industry at least once a week? Are you researching the internet endlessly at night? Feeling overwhelmed, unsure or even scared - not knowing if you could really make a career out of this?

    Then…THIS episode is for you!

Before you take a huge leap in faith, ask yourself these 5 powerful questions, first.

In the past 6 years, I’ve had the opportunity to train, mentor and coach new artists like you with zero tattooing and entrepreneurial experience, and have seen them grow wildly successful and fulfilling careers in the paramedical tattoo space.

I believe these 5 questions, when answered honestly, can truly set you up to be a successful technician and business owner:

    1. Are you 100% comfortable with nudity and physical touch? This industry requires a high level of intimacy with clients.

    2. Do you truly have a passion for helping people? Paramedical tattooing is about so much more than just the technical skills.

    3. Are you coachable and eager to constantly learn? This field is ever-evolving, and you need to be adaptable.

    4. Can you take full accountability when things don't go as planned? You'll face challenges, and you need to be able to own them.

    5. Are you willing to put yourself out there and overcome the fear of judgment? Stepping into this niche takes courage.

By the end of this episode, you'll have a crystal clear sense of whether you've got what it takes to not just survive, but thrive, as a paramedical tattoo entrepreneur. Believe me, I've seen so much talent get discouraged and give up because they simply weren't prepared.

I don't want that to happen to you. My goal is to save you from investing time and money into training, only to realize this career path isn't the right fit. Instead, you can use this episode to get laser-focused on whether you have the mindset, skills, and unshakable passion to make it in this industry.

Trust me, if you do, the rewards are unlike anything else. This career has the power to transform lives in the most profound way.

It changed my life in so many ways, and I'm confident it can do the same for you. Tune in to the full episode now to see if you've got what it takes to be a successful paramedical tattoo artist and change lives!

  • Welcome back to another episode of the Beauty Expanded Podcast. Today, we're diving into the powerful connection between valuing your time, self-worth, and success in your business. Get ready because this one's going to hit deep.

Lately, I've been in a bit of a funk when it comes to social media. You know how it goes—one minute you're just mindlessly scrolling, and the next you're trapped in the vortex, jumping from trend to trend, feeling like you just can't keep up anymore.

But then I tuned into this podcast from one of my mentors, and it was exactly what my soul needed to hear! He said something that resonated deeply—highly successful people tend to do things differently than the mainstream and so it was a great reminder to not feel obligated to follow trends and be a “follower” but a pioneer.

I also share a little story about pancakes (yes, really!) that perfectly illustrates how prioritizing myself is leading to a life filled with freedom and joy. And hey, if you have your own "pancake story" about prioritizing yourself, I'd love to hear it!

  • In this episode, I answer a question submitted by a listener named Maria from @inkedbyflawless.ego on Instagram who asked, what artists should do when a client comes in with a botched camouflage tattoo. This is an important issue to discuss as more and more people get into camouflage tattooing without proper training and inevitably mistakes happen.

    Key Takeaways:

Evaluate if modifications are possible or if referral to non-laser removal is bestResearch artist integrity and training thoroughly beforehandDon't automatically choose the cheapest or fastest option

My closing piece of wisdom is that while no industry is perfect, we must direct our energy toward supporting the ethical side - the trainers and artists who are helping clients and students for the right reasons.

  • As humans, we crave that real, authentic interaction. And guess what? Your voice is like a window to your soul. It tells people who you are and whether they can trust you.

In today's episode, we have a special guest, Tracy Goodwin, the founder of Captivate the Room and a voice coach. Tracy teaches people how to transform their lives and captivate their listeners with their voice. She uses a unique approach called the Psychology of the Voice to uncover the root issues that hold people back from sounding like an expert and authority in their field.

Often, we wear masks to shield ourselves from vulnerability. While understandable, these masks inadvertently create barriers, hindering connection. Tracy emphasizes the importance of shedding these masks and embracing your authentic voice.

Don't miss Tracy's last free live training of the year on December 19th at 2 PM EDT. Learn more about the psychology of voice and how to use it to connect with your audience and increase sales.

  • In this episode, I wanted to share my coolest experience at this spoon-bending workshop I recently did during a business mentorship program I attended. I know it sounds weird, but just listen and I promise you’re gonna be intrigued by how this workshop served as the ultimate metaphor for bending reality and overcoming limitations.

So we were guided through this meditation where we tapped into the power of energy and intention. And you guys, I actually bent a solid metal spoon as if it was rubber! My mind is still blown that I was able to physically bend my reality.

While spoon bending may seem fringe, I share how this experience revealed so much about my self-limitations and ability to create what I want. Our thoughts and stories shape our results more than we realize. My hope is that my spoon-bending experience motivates you to question your own beliefs about what’s possible!

  • Wondering if training is the only path to success in the Permanent Makeup (PMU) industry? You're not alone! Recently, I received a voice note from Tumi, one of our listeners, in which she asked, "Do I need to train others to make it big?" It's a question that many of us grapple with. What if you're content being an exceptional technician and don't want to delve into teaching? Can you still make a lucrative career?

In this episode, I'll share some key takeaways that might shift your perspective on scaling your business and boosting your income:

Defining Personal Success: Does it look like a fully booked week of appointments, or just a couple of days so you can hit the beach? The Currency of Time: Why I'm prioritizing it over money and how it's transforming my business.Scaling without Training: Yes, it's possible! Embracing and Owning: My personal motto this year, "The less I do, the more I make," and how it might resonate with many of you.

Success isn't one-size-fits-all; it's what YOU define it to be. Whether you're looking to make a significant income, want to make a difference, or both, there are countless ways to achieve it in the PMU industry. This episode could be your game-changer. Tune in!

  • In this episode, we delve into the heart of entrepreneurship and the mental hurdles that often stand in the way of business growth. The inspiration for this discussion came from a fellow paramedical tattooist who reached out to me, expressing her desire to grow her business but also her fear of the increased responsibilities that come with it.

This led me to a profound realization: Your business can only grow to the level of problems you're willing to handle.

Remember, as entrepreneurs, we start our businesses because we have a passion to solve problems and improve the lives of others. If we let fear stop us before we even begin, we're limiting our potential for growth and success.

  • S2E43: When Business is Slow, My Top 5 Things I Focus On

Welcome to the Beauty Expanded Podcast! I’m back from a much-needed vacation, fully recharged, and excited to dive into our podcast again. In today's episode, we're addressing something every business owner has experienced: the slow season.

But here's the catch - we're not going to shy away from it, we're going to embrace it, learn from it, and turn it into a gold mine of opportunities.

Here are the top 5 things I focus on when business is slow:

    1. Content Creation: When things are slow, it's a perfect time to focus on creating content. Use these slow periods as content days. Remember, every business starts slow, but consistency and commitment can change that.

    2. Consistent Lead Generation: In order to keep business flowing, it's crucial to figure out ways to bring consistent leads. One effective way to do this is by creating lead magnets. These can be free or paid, like our State Tattooing Licensing guide. These lead magnets help in building our database of email addresses and potential clients.

    3. Building Your Email List: Owning your email list is so much more valuable than just having followers on social media. If a social media platform were to shut down, you could lose all your followers, but your email list is yours forever. It's a reliable way to keep in touch with your clients and inform them about new services, products, webinars, podcast episodes, etc.

    4. Online Networking: If in-person networking isn't your cup of tea, try online networking. Joining Facebook groups can be a great way to promote your business. Check your local neighborhood groups or specific interest groups that align with your business.

    5. Invest in Ads: Advertising doesn't have to break the bank. Investing in boosting posts or running ads, especially during slow seasons can make your business stand out from the competition. Ads can help you to build your email list and also attract potential clients.

Please, don't let slow periods discourage you. Instead, view them as opportunities to grow and expand your business in ways you might not have time to when business is booming.

  • Welcome to another exciting episode of the Beauty Expanded podcast! Today I want to dive deep into a topic that's close to my heart: imposter syndrome. If you've ever felt like you're not good enough, like you're just faking it and waiting to be exposed, then this pep talk is for you.

    Storytime:

Recently, I spent an incredible weekend with my best girlfriends in Colorado. We always find ourselves having deep conversations about life, and during one of those chats, a particular topic resonated with me: "You just don't know what you don't know." It instantly reminded me of a valuable lesson my mentor once taught me—the Dunning-Kruger effect.

Here are some of the key takeaways from this episode:

The Dunning Kruger effect: People with lower abilities tend to overestimate their expertise, while those with more experience often have lower confidence in their abilities and knowledge. The Paradox of Expertise: The more experienced and knowledgeable you become, the more you realize how much more there is to learn.Embrace Lifelong Learning: Embrace the paradox of expertise and continuously strive for self-improvement.Conquer Imposter Syndrome: Overcome self-doubt, and recognize your worth as an expert in your field.Shifting Perspectives: Rather than seeing yourself as a newcomer or questioning your investment in training, adopt the mindset of an experienced professional. Embrace your expertise and unleash your full potential.

Remember where you are right now is exactly where you should be. Embrace the gift of not knowing everything in advance. It allows room for growth, learning, and the opportunity to help others along the way. Even if you impact just one person's life, it's all worth it. So, step into your expertise, trust yourself, and let your light shine!
