Jeremy Buendia returned to the Olympia stage this year after a prolonged break, showcasing an impressive blend of conditioning and structure. Despite his commendable performance, he fell short of securing the Men's Physique title. Following the conclusion of the 2023 Mr. Olympia, Buendia reflected on the competition and outlined his plans for 2024 in a recent YouTube video.
After losing to Brandon Hendrickson in 2018, Buendia took a hiatus from the sport. Fans were thrilled when the four-time Men's Physique champion announced his comeback to the Olympia stage late last year.
In the 2023 competition, Buendia faced tough opponents in Hendrickson and the then-Olympia champion, Erin Banks. Despite sharing his physique updates and a full day of eating, Buendia seemed poised to contend for the top spot or secure a position within the top five.

Derek Lunsford was crowned the 2023 Mr. Olympia during the Saturday night event at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, marking his victory in bodybuilding's most prestigious competition. Following his second-place finish in 2022, Lunsford found himself once again in a two-person showdown, this time against Hadi Choopan, the previous year's champion known as "The Persian Wolf," who made history as the first Iranian to win this event. Both Lunsford and Choopan were part of the top three athletes during the pre-judging round. It's worth noting that Lunsford also holds the title of Olympia 212 winner from 2021 and received the 2023 People's Olympia Champ award.As for the 2023 Classic Physique Olympia, the first round featured a familiar scenario, with four-time defending champion Chris Bumstead standing alongside 2022 runner-up and 2023 Arnold Classic Physique winner Ramon Rocha Queiroz. They posed enthusiastically on stage, cheered on by the audience. The top 10 competitors from the pre-judging round gathered at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL, to determine who would be interviewed by Bob Cicherillo as the 2023 Olympia champion. The final stage of the contest commenced with the last comparisons, leading to Chris Bumstead securing his fifth consecutive Classic Physique Olympia title.

The 2023 Mr. Olympia contest's prejudging round marked the traditional conclusion of the Olympia Friday night festivities in Orlando, FL, commencing on November 3, 2023.
Amidst speculations and concerns about his health, Brandon Curry, the 2019 Mr. Olympia winner, used Instagram to confirm his participation after an ulcer scare had cast doubt on his eligibility. He stands as the sole former Mr. Olympia contestant in this year's lineup.
Hadi Choopan, the reigning champion, aimed to defend his title, while several strong contenders vied for the championship, including Derek Lunsford, the runner-up in the 2022 Mr. Olympia, and Samson Dauda, the 2023 Arnold Classic champion.
Once each competitor was introduced, head judge Steve Weinberger and the panel of judges began the process of narrowing down the field to identify the top contenders vying for the prestigious Sandow Trophy.

Brandon Curry has reportedly received the necessary clearance to compete this weekend. According to sources, after being initially announced as out of the Olympia due to an illness, Brandon Curry has received clearance from doctors and will participate this weekend. Initially, it was stated that Brandon Curry would not be able to participate in the 2023 Olympia due to his illness. Bob Cicherillo announced his withdrawal at the onset of the Live Olympia Press Conference on Thursday afternoon. Brandon Curry was brought to the hospital for treatment related to his illness. Further information regarding his stay at the hospital is not yet released but will be provided once available. It is said that Brandon Curry will compete this weekend if his doctors approve. Cicherillo stated on Thursday that "he was unsure if he was going to be able to compete. It doesn't look like that will happen this year, but we wish Brandon a speedy recovery. Additionally, he will be present this weekend, so make sure to visit him as you explore the expo."

Nick Walker explains to his followers the reason for withdrawing from the show. He expressed his reluctance, stating that due to unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances, he won't be participating in this year's event. He acknowledged that despite his and his team's diligent efforts to prepare for the competition, they couldn't overcome the challenges, and withdrawing was the best decision for his overall well-being.
Walker is already in Orlando, Florida, for the contest scheduled from November 2 to 5, but he will now be an observer. He concluded his post by expressing gratitude to those who have believed in and supported him from the beginning, promising a return in the future.
Walker's absence creates an opportunity for a new contender to rise to the top three in this year's Mr. Olympia. Earlier this month, Olympia owner Jake Wood announced that only the top three contestants in this year's event would earn an automatic qualification for the 60th Mr. Olympia in 2024. Notable contenders for this weekend's competition include the defending champion Hadi Choopan, the 2022 runner-up Derek Lunsford, the 2019 Mr. Olympia Brandon Curry, and the 2023 Arnold Classic winner Samson Dauda.
Additionally, this situation means that if Walker recovers and is given clearance to compete, he will need to participate in at least one other competition in the 2024 season to earn a qualification for next year's Olympia.
