Moores reveals how McCartney’s reputation began to be perceived more generously by the public, and he argues that his output and activities in the ’90s would uncover more about the person behind them than in any other decade.

Author Don Klees is on the podcast to talk about his new book David Bowie: 1983-2016 Every Album, Every Song. It's part of Sonicbond Publishing’s On Track series.
In a career full of twists and turns, none was as sharp as the one David Bowie experienced after his 1983 album Let's Dance. The record gave Bowie the hit that he wanted but completely altered his artistic standing in the process. Instead of an innovator who pushed rock music forward, the singer found himself a global superstar with a mass audience whose tastes he didn't understand and who reciprocated this feeling as the 1980s unfolded.
After immersing himself in the band project Tin Machine, Bowie spent the 1990s embracing reinvention and experimentation with mixed but often fascinating results, leading to a full-fledged renaissance early in the 21st century. From there, his story only got stranger; 2013's The Next Day was a triumphant comeback after years of self-imposed silence. Meanwhile, 2016's Blackstar stood among his most challenging albums and became the final release of his lifetime. One constant is that the records David Bowie released during this time were ultimately the result of his artistic vision, wherever it took him. This book considers all those releases on their own merits, away from the shadow of his 1970s landmarks. Even if Bowie himself didn't always appreciate the results, every album featured songs worthy of his reputation.

Laurie Kaye is the last-ever reporter to interview John Lennon before his assassination. In fact, she was with John and Yoko just hours before his death. She’s on the podcast to talk about that fateful day and her book Confessions of a Rock 'n' Roll Name-Dropper: My Life Leading up to John Lennon's Last Interview.
Kaye is a writer and producer, and this book is her long-awaited memoir. In it, we read about Kaye's music-related early life wrapped around that day in December 1980 which Kaye spent with John Lennon and Yoko Ono at the legendary Dakota apartment building on Manhattan's Upper West Side. On December 8, 1980, while working for RKO Radio, Kaye, a then twenty-something rock journalist, co-conducted an interview with her longtime idol, John Lennon. It was to become Lennon's final interview on what tragically turned out to be his last day on the planet. That evening, John Lennon was gunned down by a man Kaye had encountered just hours before.

Our guest is John Lee Hooker Jr. who has a new book out titled From The Shadow Of The Blues: My Story of Music, Addiction, and Redemption. The son of blues legend John Lee Hooker—best known for hit songs like “Boogie Chillun,” “I’m in the Mood,” and “Boom Boom”—John Lee Hooker Jr. was born in Detroit and exposed to the music world from an early age, singing as a featured attraction in his father’s shows as a teenager. In 1972, he and his father performed live and recorded an album in Soledad Prison. Junior seemed to have a golden ticket to a successful music career, but trouble brewed. His father’s marriage was in trouble, and the family was ripped apart.
Drug addiction and a series of related crimes, including as a con player, landed Junior in and out of jails and prisons—including the infamous San Quentin—for three decades. Shot, stabbed, and convicted multiple times, Junior was at his lowest point doing time at a Santa Rita jail. Still, he emerged clean and sober and began a successful career as a blues singer, earning two Grammy nominations and even opening for the Rolling Stones.
The life of a blues musician had its rewards but also its perils, and in 2019 Junior decided to devote himself fully to his faith. Today, Reverend John Lee Hooker Jr. testifies, preaches, and performs gospel music in churches and prisons across the U.S. and Germany. This is an amazing, inspiring story.
