This episode contains the introduction to the book (a message of hope) and a message specifically to the carers of those with a brain injury. I hope it helps you and your loved ones.
Welcome to Growth Happens in the Dirt, I’m Katie Jolly, a Dr Amen Elite Brain Health trainer and Naturopath, and this is my story of brain injury and a pathway to heal which will hopefully help you and your loved ones.
I wrote the book for survivors and their families, and then realized I couldn’t actually read or tolerate screens for several months after my concussion. So if this is where you are, this is for you.
Each week, I will read a few pages of the book, now available on Amazon, which along with my story, contains clinically proven tools and methods to heal.
Growth Happens in the dirt is a story of Katie's brain injury and healing. Designed for survivors and families. Now available on Amazon globally.
Katie Jolly lives with her husband and two children in New Zealand. Katie is a natural health practitioner, author, brain health educator, public speaker, and an advocate for mental (brain) health.

Why would you put on paper the darkest moments of your life for the whole world to read? Pretty vulnerable, pretty scary, you'd have to be a little crazy to do it? Well, what I've realized after years of working in the health industry and battling mental health issues, is that this book represents the common human experiences of mental health. But it also shows a clinically proven pathway to heal.
You see concussion is like the human experience of anxiety, depression, rage, grief, broken relationships and lost identity put into one person. Not all people with brain injuries suffer as I did, but many do.
So the book has become about more than me. It has become about helping the one person, or the one family to learn about how to grow through all of these difficulties.
Launching on the 10th March on Amazon, let's grow in the dirt together. Please share if you know someone who needs help growing in the dirt today.
