The Duke Basketball Roundup rarely tries to break news but when our sources told us about this piece of info, we just had to share it. It is not yet confirmed yet, but we have learned that Tyler Thornton is joining the Duke staff as an assistant coach. It is so exciting to be bringing a former captain back and to get a guy who gave it 100% every single time he stepped on the floor. Time to cue up that Kansas game tape!
After the break, Jason and Donald dive into the ACC's schedule release. Duke is taking on all comers in the non-conference and now it seems they will face the toughest schedule the ACC could give them. Bring it on!

With the addition of Sebastian Wilkins, it would appear Duke's 2025-26 roster is firmly in place. Guys are expected to start arriving on campus for summer workouts in the next few weeks.
In this episode of the Duke Basketball Roundup we break down the addition of Sebastian Wilkins and get into what role he will play this upcoming season (and beyond).
After the break, we briefly lament the fact that Cedric Coward is staying in the NBA draft, though we wish this honorary Dukie well in his pro career. After that, Jason and Scott dive into one of the big offseason questions -- who will be the offensive creators for this Duke team? The podcast gang have a lot of answers!

Dame Sarr has committed to Duke, so Jason and Donald jump on quickly with Scott Rich to discuss it on a quick DBR Bites!
Sarr’s commitment is a big one and we take a few minutes to herald Jon Scheyer and the staff for landing Another One. Sarr’s defense is exciting as well as his upside. We also quickly discuss what it means for the rotation and who could be the #2 option on offense after Cam Boozer.
After the break, we discuss Duke scheduling Texas Tech for a game at Madison Square Garden on December 20th. The game will be 7 years to the day since the two teams faced each other in a non-conference game also at the Garden. It’s a loaded schedule for the Blue Devils, and they will be ducking no one next season.

We’re talking recruiting news on Episode 729!
Duke is waiting to hear word this week from several guys who they have been targeting recently to round out next season’s roster. Jason and Donald get the party started by discussing Dame Sarr, a young Italian who is visiting Duke right now and could make a decision soon. He has a ton of upside and a lot of people will be happy should he decide to go to Duke.
After the break, there are two other players who will be making their decisions soon on where they will play college ball: Braydon Hawthorn and Sebastian Wilkins. Both have some different qualities, and we discuss the chances that each end up at Duke and how they would fit into next season’s roster.

And the winner of the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes is... the Dallas Mavericks. The Duke Basketball Roundup breaks down what it means for Flagg to be heading the Kyrie and Lively's team. Jason and Donald both think it is a pretty good fit for the guy who seems poised to be a budding superstar in the league.
After the break, the podcast guys dive into what they are hearing about Cedric Coward, the Duke transfer portal prospect who is testing the NBA Draft waters. The good news is that Cedric a stud with testing measurements and scores that at the NBA combine that are wowing everyone. The bad news is, that makes it much more likely that he stays in the draft and never makes it to Durham. That could mean that Jon Scheyer needs to explore backup plans to fill out Duke's 25-26 roster.

A flurry of news on Duke hit the feed today so Donald and Jason jumped on the Duke Basketball Roundup to chat about it.
First up, we have another member of the 20226 team as Jack Scott, a wing from Princeton has committed to play at Duke. Jack figures to be a deep bench/practice player for the most part but the podcast gang have plenty of thoughts about how he fits and what he does for Duke.
After the break, there is a ton of news coming out of the NBA Draft combine. Isaiah Evans isn't there (someone remind Jason that we need to talk about that), Tyrese Proctor isn't player, and we are getting measurements on Cooper, Kon, and Manman.
The DBR Podcast has all the Duke news you could want as we await the lottery and learn where Copper will be planting his Flagg next season.

We got a flurry of news on Wednesday about Duke 2025-26 season. First of all, the roster is expanding. Duke is getting 6-11 big man Ifeanyi Ufochukwu from Rice. He doesn't figure to be a regular part of the rotation, but as 3rd string backup centers go, he's a very nice fit and will be an important practice player.
After the break, Jason and Donald dive into everything we know about Duke's schedule, starting with the news that the ACC is cutting the sked back to 18 total games and then going through each of the non-conference opponents who have been revealed. There is plenty to know about these teams and about how Jon Scheyer will use this schedule to build another national title contender.

A new name has been added to the Duke coaching staff as Jon Scheyer has brought Celtic/Jazz assistant coach Evan Bradds on board. On the latest edition of the DBR Podcast, Donald and Jason (back from vacation) have nothing but praise for Duke hiring one of the best young minds in the game to join the bench.
After the break, the guys get into a conversation about where Duke goes next in terms of building the 2025-26 roster. And yes, we get into what could... could happen if Isaiah Evans or Cedric Coward decide to stay in the NBA Draft.

We’re back with Episode 725, as Scott Rich joins Donald and we get a brief report from Jason live from Japan!
Cedric Coward has committed to the Duke Blue Devils via the transfer portal, and we’re very excited about all the possibilities. We give a rundown of some of his game and what he could bring to the Blue Devils. He’s still navigating a shoulder injury and the NBA Draft process, but should he come back to college, it could be as a 2nd or 3rd scoring option for Duke.
We then get into Khaman Maluach declaring for the NBA Draft, and Scott and Donald take the time to discuss how much fun it was to watch him develop this year. He brought some exciting moments and he will be someone that can do very well at the next level. We cloes out with a report that the ACC has decided to go from 20 conference games to 18 in order to give teams more opportunities to schedule marquee non-conference schedules. We think that the ACC is not addressing the issues it faced this season in the right way.

We’re back with Episode 724, and Scott Rich is back to join Donald as they discuss the close of the transfer portal entry deadline!
The portal is closed to new entrants, and Jon Scheyer has successfully kept some continuity on the roster. Isaiah Evans, Maliq Brown, Darren Harris, and Patrick Ngongba will all be back with the Duke Blue Devils next season, and we discuss how welcome a sight that is. In a world where the portal affects everyone, Duke is one of the few power conference teams to not lose any of their main rotation players to the portal. While Duke could look to add a final piece or two, the certain thing is that Scheyer wanted continuity...and he got it.
After the break, the two men from Michigan discuss the report that Duke could be playing Michigan in February 2026 in DC. Of course, Donald is happy about the Blue Devils being down the street from him, but we look at the potential matchup and how Jon Scheyer is trying to test his guys with these marquee games. We close with a salute to the life of Mike Patrick, who passed away at age 80 a few days ago.

Episode 723 is a sad one as we say goodbye to three Duke Blue Devils who are either headed to the NBA or entering the transfer portal as a grad transfer. Jordan Brenner from the Underdogs Podcast joins Donald with Jason still out on international duty.
The big story is Cooper Flagg officially announcing that he is leaving Duke for the NBA, where he will presumably be the #1 pick in the NBA Draft in June. We look back at his historic year where he was the best player in college basketball and was just a ton of fun to watch. Jordan and Donald discuss which teams could be a good or intriguing fit for Cooper as he heads to the next level.
We also touch on Tyrese Proctor declaring for the NBA Draft. He had a monster year for Duke, a redemption year for the Aussie assassin. He is a player who NBA teams really do need and we look forward to seeing who decides to take him. The 3 and D attributes only tell some of the tale about how he can impact a franchise.
Finally, Stanley Borden will graduate from Duke next month, and he has decided to take a graduate year somewhere else. Despite not scoring a point for Duke, he was a fan favorite, and we show him some love as he departs the program to try and get some playing time in his final year of eligibility.

We’re back with Episode 722 as we learned the other day that Caleb Foster will be back with the Duke Blue Devils next season!
Caleb Foster announcement that he is coming back for his junior season at Duke has everyone excited. Donald is once again joined by Scott Rich to discuss what it means for next year’s team, and we hear from Jason as he’s on his travels through Japan. We get into his struggles this season and how he can use a full offseason to improve and have a terrific junior season.
After the break, we get to the sad as Shelton Henderson announced late Thursday night that he will decommit from Duke. Donald and Scott discuss what it could mean in the form of what’s coming and also dispel some of the rumors out there about why Shelton ultimately decided to go in a different direction.

We return with Episode 721 as we discuss Kon Knueppel declaring for the NBA Draft and Sion James’ academic honors.
With Jason flying the friendly skies, Scott Rich is back to join Donald as they take a look back at Kon II’s incredible season in a Duke uniform. The kid that was very much overlooked by many is set to be a likely top 10 pick when the NBA Draft takes place in June. We’re so excited for him and so proud at how he left a legacy in his one season in Durham.
After the break, we turn to Sion James, who was named an Academic All-American the other day. We’re just so lucky to have had Sion James at Duke, and he (along with Kon) will be the part of the blueprint of the program for years to come. He was a star on the court, but he was even better off the court and in the community.

The Duke Basketball Roundup wants to be very, very clear -- we do not have any inside intel to think this is real but...
What if Cooper and Kon decided the loss to Houston just left such a bad taste in their mouth that they wanted to come back for another year? The Athletic's Jordan Brenner joins us for a chat about the kind of thought process that could be happening here for the Duke superstars. Why haven't they declared for the NBA Draft yet and what dominoes would fall into place if they did the unthinkable and decided to run it back for another year?
This episode could be dated at any moment. It probably has not basis in reality... but it sure is fun to think about, isn't it?

We are back with Episode 720 as we recap the Nike Hoops Summit that took place this weekend in Portland!
Cameron Boozer, Cayden Boozer, and Nik Khamenia (last name pronounced with a silent K) played on Team USA in the men’s game, and each of them shined thoughout the week. The biggest star was Cameron Boozer, who lit up the stat sheet and dominated throughout the game. We get into each of the players and how they did and how excited we are to see them in Duke Blue. We also give some updates on Nate Ament’s recruitment and some of the rumblings we’ve heard about what could be affecting his announcement. Of course, we also discuss Emilee Skinner’s performance in the women’s game and how she fits into Kara Lawson’s squad for next year.
After the break, we take a look at Vegas, where Duke is the early favorite to win it all in 2026. We discuss some of the other teams, including a couple in the ACC, who are getting some buzz.

Longtime podcast friend Sam Klein once again joins Jason and Donald on the Duke Basketball Roundup for the annual stats game recap. Listen in as the guys reflect on the predictions they made at the start of the year to find out who was best at figuring out how the season would go. It all starts with some stunning reveals about how little we all trusted Cooper Flagg. By the end, the winner of the contest comes down to a crazy tiebreaker!
It is a great way to look back on a wildly successful year of Duke hoops... with some little hints and comments about what is to come next.

It is with a heavy heart that the Duke Basketball Roundup bids farewell to the 2024-25 Blue Devil team. A stunning 70-67 loss to Houston has all of us in a funk it not outright depressed. A team that seemed fated to cut down the nets on Monday instead finds itself wondering what went wrong in the fateful final few minutes where a sizeable lead evaporated.
Jason and Donald try to make sense of all of it. They talk about what happened and what the causes of it may have been; they remind us all that the journey is more than the destination; and they reflect on the many great moments of joy this team brought us. Still it all just feels wrong, it feels unfair. Join the DBR Podcast as they try to process the end of a very special season.

Well, we didn't expect this to happen on the evening of the eve of the Final Four! Kon Knueppel's mother, Chari Nordgaard Knueppel, took a moment away from packing her bags to chat with Jason and Donald about the amazing ride her family is taking as they join Duke at the Final Four in San Antonio. Chari talks about the strong bond that has formed among all the families of the current Duke team and she reveals the one thing Kon 2 asked her to bring him from the family home for this big weekend.
After the break, Jason and Donald also briefly get into a couple amazing awards... one for Jon Scheyer and one for a beloved former Dukie.

It's finally time. Our Duke Blue Devils play tomorrow in the national semifinal. Donald and Jason give their full preview of the Houston Cougars on Episode 717.
This Houston team is strong, with lot of returning guys, a ton of experience, and an elite defense. They have played a schedule of tough teams and emerged as one of the top teams in the country. We take you through the offense, the defense, the players, and what needs to happen in order for Duke to win this game. While Houston is a tough opponent, they're not unbeatable. And Duke is a tough team too...we give our final word on the game and what it will take for Duke to move on.

As "Firehose Week" (because trying to keep up with all the DBR podcast content is like drinking from a firehose) marches on, the Duke Basketball Roundup welcomes back one of our favorite guests of the season, sportswriter Jordan Brenner who is also the host of The Underdogs podcast. Jordan was with the team in Newark last weekend and we get his reflections on what happened there. And, of course, we look ahead to the Final Four to hear from Jordan what it will take for Duke to cut down the nets.
