    NOTE ABOUT PRONUNCIATION OF "SLOUGH"

A number of helpful people have gotten in touch to tell me I should have pronounced "slough" as "slew" as that is how it is pronounced in that part of the world. However, it was not a word known to me (not used much in British English, at least not in the sense meant in this story) so I referred to Merriam-Webster dictionary which suggested US speakers (except in New England) would pronounce the word "slew" or "sloo", but added that British English speakers would usually say "slau" (like the English town) even if they were refererring to an American swamp. As a British English speaker myself that was what I went with.

As I'm rather tired of people assuming I don't do any research when I record these damn stories, I thought I'd set the record straight. No need for anyone else to tell me it should be "slew". Any issues, take it up with the dictionary people.💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀If you like, you can donate in the following ways:Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/encryptedpodYouTube channel membership: https://www.youtube.com/c/EnCryptedClassicHorror/joinOne-off donation: https://ko-fi.com/encryptedpodcastYou can now also say THANKS (on YouTube) with a SUPER THANKS!LIKE, COMMENT, SHARE - it all helps the show survive and prosper! If you want to discuss the show, talk business, or have any ideas for stories you'd like to hear in future episodes, contact me: [email protected]💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀About the story:"Fish Head” by Irvin S. • Invited to share his story at Saunderson’s Round Table, a golfer provides a terrifying account of an old fisherman, a vengeful curse, and the mystery of The Fifteenth Green…
This original recording is an audio presentation by Jasper L'Estrange for EnCrypted Horror. “The Fifteenth Green” by Margery Lawrence (from “Nights of the Round Table”, first published 1926).

You can hear me discuss this story by becoming a channel member and listening to a forthcoming episode of The EnCrypted Postmortem (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7JYpOrSDoCfvPbjBn6DZGIXDlK-eOzpR).

CREATOR’S NOTE: My recordings contain a mixture of audio narration, sound effects, and music…because that’s what I like to make and listen to. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea or coffee, but luckily we exist in a world of almost limitless choice, so if it hurts your ears or makes you nauseous, feel free to move on to something else, no need to leave a comment. I try and do voices and accents to distinguish between characters as it can help the listener, but I’m not Meryl Streep, nor have I ever claimed to be. Wish I had her money though. I do a wide variety of mostly vintage (early 20th century) stories on this channel. Naturally, the stories reflect the attitudes and language of the time. They didn’t know any better. But they did dress smarter and look good in hats. Sometimes pet animals die in these stories (though not in this one). When it happens, try not to weep, just hold your own pet animal a little tighter (but not too tightly).
