Event Horizon 2019 has just taken place.
The theme of this year’s conference was #MakeYourMove. If we’re going to have a hope of dealing with issues like #ClimateChange, then we have to accelerate the pace of the Energy Transition. One key takeaway from this year’s event is that blockchain enabled solutions that help accelerate the Energy Transition are viable today and are being commercially deployed.
So for the final few episodes in this series, we’re going to hear from a number of Energy Companies who have already Made a Move.
Join me, Kevin O'Donovan for Episode 8, Making a Move, where I chat with Etienne Gehain, Digital Innovation Officer at Engie. -
In the past two episodes, we have heard from Maria McKavanagh at Verv and Dave Marion from Power on what they see out there today as they build their businesses in the energy industry and how they see blockchain as an enabling technology for their solutions.
And we wanted to hear from such visionaries as, given the dose of realism we’ve been dishing out so far, some people might be starting to wonder if there was any future for blockchain in the energy industry. There certainly is …
And for episode 7, I’d like to welcome JoJo Hubbard, Co-Founder and CEO of Electron. -
In the series so far, we looked at the overall state of blockchain in the Energy Industry, the technology, the impact of Energy Policy & Regulation and many of the elephants in the room got called out.
Now given the dose of realism we’ve been dishing out so far, you might be starting to wonder if there is any future for blockchain in the energy industry. There is. And to prove it, in episodes 5, 6 & 7 we’re going to hear directly from people who are out there today, building businesses in the energy industry, using blockchain as a key enabling technology for their solutions.
For episode 6 join me, Kevin O'Donovan, as I chat with Dave Martin, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Power Ledger to hear what's going on in the real world ... -

In the warm up for this year’s EventHorizon, in order to keep we wanted to continue
In order to continue making progress and change, we need to identify and tackle the current problems in our community. We wanted to initiate the conversation about so called elephants in the (energy blockchain) room.
As we are warming up for this year’s EventHorizon, we wanted to start preparing and talk about the state of the global energy blockchain sector. In order to continue making progress and change, we need to identify and tackle the current problems in our community. We wanted to initiate the conversation about so called elephants in the (energy blockchain) room.
What is happening and we are not talking about it? And why? Here are just some of the topics we are planning to cover:
Regulation – everyone is complaining about impediments in the regulation, but what is the real problem here?
Peer to peer? What do companies mean when they say they are doing peer to peer?
Disruptors? Really? So many are here to “disrupt” the energy sector? Not going anywhere anytime soon.
Business models? Commercialization strategy?
Why are utilities moving so slowly?
Sometimes it just feels good to rant about the problems and it brings us closer to the solution.
